Big Ten sees six teams in latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll

The Big Ten Conference sees six teams in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.

It has been a fun start to the College Football season. Through two weeks, we have seen some great games, some crazy results, and some wild upsets. Through that, the Big Ten Conference has been very strong with 29 wins in 34 games. With that, they were rewarded with six teams in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.

New Addition in for Iowa

The Nebraska Cornhuskers took over the spot for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa lost at home to Iowa State, and Nebraska beat up Colorado at home. The Cornhuskers were one of four new teams in the Top 25. Clemson, Boston College, and Northern Illinois were the others. Northern Illinois, of course, won on the road at Notre Dame.

Three in the Top 10

The Big Ten Conference has three in the Top 10. Last week, they had four. The Michigan Wolverines, of course, fell out of the Top 10 and dropped down to 17th overall. They are the fifth team in the poll. The three teams in the Top 10 are the Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Oregon Ducks.

Ohio State is third, just behind Georgia and Texas. Penn State comes in at 8th. They are behind Alabama, Ole Miss, Missouri, and Tennessee. The Oregon Ducks dropped to 9th, just behind Penn State. The Miami Hurricanes round out the Top 10.

Trojans on the Verge

It has been a solid start for Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans. They are coming off a shut-out win over Utah State. The Trojans have moved up to 11th in the latest poll.

No Big Ten teams are playing a ranked team in Week 3. The lone conference game is the Indiana Hoosiers at UCLA Bruins.

Auburn in middle of the pack in the year’s final Associated Press Poll

Following the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament, the final Associated Press Poll puts Auburn basketball in the middle of the pack.

The college basketball season has come to an end with the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament. Now, teams begin preparation for the 2024-25 campaign in the offseason.

It is also time for the nation to see how their favorite team stacked up in the final polls of the year. For Auburn fans, after it fell to Yale in the first round of the tournament, it made the largest drop in the Associated Press Poll to No. 18.

The Tigers lost to the Bulldogs 78-76 in heartbreaking fashion in Spokane, Washington. They were unable to stop a potent attack from 3-point land while also not being able to stay out of foul trouble.

The Alabama Crimson Tide finish as the highest-ranked SEC team in the rankings after their run to the Final Four for the first time in school history, coming in at No. 3. Tennessee finished just behind them in the No. 5 spot after its loss in the Elite Eight to Purdue. Behind Auburn, Kentucky comes in at No. 20 after its shocking first round exit to Oakland, while South Carolina finishes at No. 25 following its loss to Oregon.

As Auburn prepares for next season, [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] will look to make improvements and work in the recruiting battle for the nation’s top players.

Auburn basketball sits at No. 12 in Associated Press Poll ahead of SEC Tournament

Heading into this week’s SEC Tournament, Auburn basketball sits at No. 12 in the last Associated Press Poll before “Selection Sunday.”

The SEC Tournament is set to start this week in Nashville, with many teams in the league looking to make their final statements for an NCAA Tournament bid. Auburn basketball is off to a good start in its efforts after it won its final two games, boosting them in the Associated Press Poll.

The Tigers made their final road appearance on Tuesday night at Missouri, a game in which they won handily 101-74. They channeled that momentum into their senior day matchup with Georgia on Saturday, beating the Bulldogs 92-78. Following the two victories, Auburn moved up one spot to No. 12 in the rankings.

The Tennessee Volunteers, who finished as regular season champions of the SEC, dropped one spot to No. 5 after splitting its final two games, including a loss to Kentucky. The Wildcats, who are currently one of the hottest teams in the country, rose six spots to No. 9. Auburn’s potential quarterfinal opponent in South Carolina comes in at No. 15 after splitting its last two games of the season as well. Alabama dropped down to No. 19 after a close win over Arkansas and a loss to Florida.

The Tigers look to make one final rise in their tournament stock with a good performance in the SEC Tournament this week. Their first game will be on Friday afternoon, playing against either Vanderbilt, Arkansas or South Carolina.

Auburn falls in Associated Press Poll in week before SEC Tournament

As the final week of the regular season gets underway, Auburn basketball drops to No. 13 in the latest Associated Press Poll.

As many conferences enter their final week of regular season play, rankings are starting to become more and more important. Auburn basketball has two games left to improve its stock after falling in the Associated Press Poll.

The Tigers hit the road for a Wednesday night, top-15 game against the Tennessee Volunteers in which they lost by eight in a tightly contested matchup. They managed to turn it around though on Saturday, getting revenge on Mississippi State at home by 15 points. As a result, Auburn dropped to No. 13 in the latest rankings.

Tennessee remains at the No. 4 spot despite its two huge wins over both the Tigers and Alabama, but it has cemented its spot at first place in the SEC, being one full game ahead. The Crimson Tide, however, dropped two spots to No. 16 this week after the loss. Kentucky jumped over Alabama to No. 15 after its buzzer-beater win over Mississippi State and a 111-point showing against Arkansas. South Carolina is the only other SEC team left in the poll at No. 17 after Florida dropped out.

Auburn is still fighting amidst a tight race for a spot in the top four of the conference heading into the final two games of the regular season. It will need a little bit of help, but it needs to handle business this week against both Missouri and Georgia in order to have a better opportunity.

Auburn continues to drop in Associated Press Poll

As postseason draws closer, Auburn basketball has now dropped for the second straight week in the Associated Press Poll.

Auburn basketball is continuing to drop in the standings with the newest addition of the Associated Press Poll.

The Tigers played in two top 25 games this week inside Neville Arena, to which many may be surprised, they split. They annihilated South Carolina by 40 on Wednesday, but then dropped its weekend game to Kentucky on Saturday. It would eventually drop them one spot to No. 14 in the rankings.

The Tennessee Volunteers stay put as the top-ranked SEC team in the poll in week 16, moving back up to No. 5 after wins over Arkansas and Vanderbilt. Alabama also moves ahead of Auburn after hitting the century mark twice last week in its victories over LSU and Texas A&M. No. 17 Kentucky, No. 20 South Carolina and newcomer No. 24 Florida put the conference as having six representatives.

The Tigers have a light week this week, but head on the road for another tough test in Athens when they take on Georgia on Saturday. Auburn needs all of the success it can get to make a big impression for the selection committee as postseason play nears.

Auburn stays in comfortable spot in latest Associated Press Poll

After splitting a pair of Quad 1 games last week, Auburn basketball dropped one spot to No. 13 in the latest version of the Associated Press Poll.

Auburn basketball finds itself in a similar position as it was last week in the newest Associated Press Poll.

The Tigers split a pair of quad 1 games this past week, defeating archrival Alabama on Wednesday but then losing on the road at Florida on Saturday. As a result, they dropped one spot to No. 13 in the rankings.

Tennessee is the top-ranked SEC team in the poll, falling to No. 8 after beating LSU and losing to Texas A&M, while South Carolina moved up four spots to No. 11 after extending its winning streak to seven games. Those teams, along with No. 15 Alabama and No. 22 Kentucky, make up the five SEC teams in this week’s standings.

Auburn will look to create some major momentum this week, hosting South Carolina on Wednesday and Kentucky on Saturday for ESPN’s College Gameday. Wins in both games would be a good resume builder come Selection Sunday.

Where Auburn stands in the Associated Press poll ahead of SEC opener at Texas A&M

Six teams from the SEC make up this week’s Associated Press poll. Is Auburn one of them?

Week three of the college football season is behind us, and teams around the country are beginning to show their identities.

For Auburn, the Tigers are 3-0 for the first time since 2019 after knocking off Samford at home last Saturday, 45-13. How much did that win affect its place in the Associated Press poll? As the Tigers prepare to travel to Texas A&M for the SEC opener, they remain on the outside of the poll. However, they are inching closer to earning a place in the poll, as they received one vote in the poll released Sunday afternoon.

A total of six SEC teams found their way onto this week’s poll, with Georgia leading the way at the No. 1 spot after coming from behind to defeat South Carolina. LSU and Alabama are next in line at No. 12 and No. 13 respectively. Ole Miss checks in at No. 15 ahead of their showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. Tennessee‘s loss to Florida drops them to No. 23, the win bumps Florida up to No. 25.

Auburn’s next opponent, Texas A&M, failed to receive votes in this week’s AP poll. The Tigers and Aggies face off on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.

The latest Associated Press poll is out. Did Auburn make the cut?

How impressive was Auburn’s 14-10 win over California in the eyes of the AP voters?

After a wild weekend of college football action, several SEC teams find themselves in the Associated Press top 25 poll.

Auburn, however, is not one of them.

The Tigers earned a sloppy win over the California Golden Bears last Saturday at California Memorial Stadium to move to 2-0 on the season. Auburn gained just 230 yards of offense and committed four turnovers in the win. Unfortunately, the performance kicked Auburn out of the “receiving votes” category heading into week three’s action.

Georgia remains in the top spot of this week’s poll after knocking off Ball State, 45-3, on Saturday. The biggest mover this week is the Texas Longhorns, who advanced seven spots to No. 4 after taking down Alabama, 34-24 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Five SEC teams make up this week’s AP poll, with Arkansas and Mississippi State knocking on the door.

Auburn will have the opportunity to return to AP poll consideration next Saturday when it hosts Samford at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Tigers will need a strong showing in order to build confidence ahead of their trip to Texas A&M on Sept. 23.

USC football ranked No. 6 in Associated Press preseason poll

#USC is No. 6 in each of the two main preseason polls.

The USC Trojans are ranked No. 6 in the preseason edition of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

The Trojans’ ranking matches the No. 6 spot they gained in the preseason USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

In the AP poll, Ohio State is No. 3 and Alabama is No. 4. That is different from the coaches’ poll, in which Bama was No. 3 and Ohio State was No. 4.

Both polls have Georgia at No. 1, Michigan at No. 2, and LSU at No. 5 in front of the sixth-rated Trojans.

Washington is the other Pac-12 team to join USC in the top 10. The Huskies checked in at No. 10 in the AP poll. Utah was No. 14 and Oregon No. 15 in the poll, giving the Pac-12 four teams in the top 15.

Three SEC teams and two Big Ten teams are ranked ahead of USC in both preseason polls. Obviously, it will be hard for all three SEC teams and both Ohio State and Michigan in the Big Ten to retain their positions, given that those teams will have to play each other head-to-head at some point. USC’s No. 6 ranking means that if the Trojans do go 12-1, they will have a very strong chance of making the College Football Playoff.

USC’s first game of the 2023 season is on August 26 against San Jose State.

Arkansas slides 10 spots in latest AP Poll

Arkansas’ 23-21 loss to Texas A&M slides them out of the AP top ten.

The voters weren’t too considerate to the Razorbacks in the latest AP polls.

Arkansas went from No. 10 to No. 20 after suffering their first loss of the season to No. 17 Texas A&M, 23-21. Arkansas replaces Texas A&M as the lowest ranked SEC school in the AP polls.

Arkansas opponent next week, No. 2 Alabama, sits behind top-ranked Georgia with four place votes, followed by Ohio State in third. Georgia remains the country’s most dominant team, with 55 first-place votes.

Tennessee rose three in the poll to eighth marking their first Top 10 ranking since 2016. Kentucky leaped one spot to No. 7.

Arkansas can make a giant leap next week, but they must take down Alabama. That game comes with pressure because another loss drowns out their chances to be in the College Football Playoff conversation.
