Ex-Chiefs WR arrested on suspicion of DUI, head coach to issue statement

An ex-#Chiefs wide receiver was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Monday morning. His head coach will issue a statement on Tuesday.

According to a release by NFL Media, former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Demarcus Robinson was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated on Monday morning after the Los Angeles Rams’ Week 12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on ‘Sunday Night Football.’

Robinson played for Kansas City from 2016 through 2021 and was part of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV roster in 2019.

After his time in Kansas City ended, Robinson signed contracts with the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens in 2022 before joining Los Angeles last season.

Details about his arrest on Monday night remain murky, but Rams head coach Sean McVay is expected to address Robinson’s situation on Tuesday.

Los Angeles holds a 5-6 record after their primetime defeat at the hands of the Eagles, and the Rams’ offense will need to make some serious adjustments if Robinson has to miss time, especially if injuries play a factor at the position later this season.

Wisconsin staffer stepping down from Badgers coaching staff after OWI arrest

Wisconsin staffer stepping down from Badgers coaching staff after OWI arrest

Jack Del Rio is stepping down from the Wisconsin coaching staff following his recent OWI arrest, according to Badgers head coach Luke Fickell.

Fickell opened his Monday press conference with a statement on the situation:

“Obviously we take everything incredibly seriously that happens, with our student-athletes or our staff,” Fickell began. “We had an issue this weekend that I think our administration has released a statement already. That happened with Jack Del Rio on Thursday. I’ve been in communication on Friday with our administration, and have had some communication with Jack, have sat down with him. He’ll be releasing a statement here I would imagine shortly after the press conference. That he’s going to move forward, he’s going to resign and move on. It’s a tough situation, decisions that all of us have to be able to take full responsibility for. So that’s what Jack will do and we’ll continue to move forward.”

Del Rio then released the following:

“I’m grateful to Coach Fickell and the University of Wisconsin for the opportunity to work with such a talented coaching and support staff and some of the best young football players in the country. I have decided to step away from my position with the team, so they can focus all their attention on the remainder of the season.”

Here are further details of the incident, as first reported by BadgerExtra’s Colten Bartholomew.

Del Rio originally joined the Badgers staff over the summer after a long coaching tenure in the NFL, including as defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders (2020-23), head coach for the then-Oakland Raiders (2015-17), defensive coordinator for Denver Broncos (2012-14) and head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2003-11).

Wisconsin (5-4, 3-3 Big Ten) is back on the field on Saturday, Nov. 16 against the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks, needing just one more win to clinch bowl eligibility.

Denver Police arrest two men connected to Josh Reynolds shooting

Denver Police arrested two men who are under investigation for attempted first-degree murder following the Josh Reynolds shooting.

Denver Police have arrested two men in connection to the Josh Reynolds shooting last week.

Police arrested Burr Charlesworth, 42, on Oct. 19 and Luis Mendoza, 35, on Oct. 22, less than a week after the Oct. 18 shooting. The two suspects “are being held for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault,” according to KDVR’s Heather Willard.

Further suspects may be identified later.

Reynolds and two other men were followed after they left a club early in the morning of Oct. 18. Two of them suffered non-life-threatening injuries when shot. Reynolds was shot in his arm and the back of his head, but the Denver Broncos said in a statement that his injuries were “minor.”

Reynolds, 29, was already back at practice this week working on a side field with other injured players. Reynolds is currently on injured reserve while recovering from a finger injury.

“Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries,” the team said in a statement. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

Reynolds hauled in 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games this season before being placed on IR.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was arrested by police after a traffic misunderstanding ahead of his second round at the 2024 PGA Championship. Scheffler was booked at 7:28 a.m ET, according to online records accessed by Golfweek. ESPN was first to report.

He has retained local attorneys for the case and has an arraignment scheduled for 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday, May 21.

Scheffler was released from custody at 8:40 a.m. ET and arrived at the golf course at 9:15 a.m. ET. According to a PGA of America source on site, Scheffler was personally escorted to the club by an owner of Valhalla and made his 10:08 a.m. ET tee time.

Jeff Darlington reported early Friday morning that Scheffler attempted to drive past a police officer into Valhalla Golf Club and that officer attempted to “attach himself to Scheffler’s car, and Scheffler then stopped his vehicle at the entrance to Valhalla.” The officer reportedly began to scream at Scheffler to get out of the car, and when the 27-year-old exited the car, he was shoved against the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. He was then detained in the back of a police car.

“They told him to stop,” Darlington said in an appearance on ESPN. “When he didn’t stop, the police officer attached himself to the vehicle. Scheffler then traveled another 10 yards before stopping the car. The police officer then grabbed at his arm attempting to pull him out of the car before Scheffler eventually opened the door, at which point the police officer pulled Scheffler out of the car, pushed him up against the car and immediately placed him in handcuffs.”

In a statement provided to ESPN.com, Scheffler called it a “very chaotic situation” and said there was a “big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do. I never intended to disregard any of the instructions.”

After a brief hiatus for the birth of his child, Scheffler returned to competition this week with a 4-under 67 on Thursday and sat T-12 on the leaderboard after the first round. So far this season Scheffler has four wins at the Masters, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship and RBC Heritage. In 10 starts this season, he has nine top 10s, with a worst finish of T-17.

Doctor who was allegedly beaten with golf club, spit on by dentist while on Florida course files lawsuit

Deputies noted blood and injuries on Sivak and blood on the golf clubs.

TAVARES, Florida — A man who said he was beaten with a golf club in a dispute over use of a golf cart path has sued the man who struck him. The defendant in the lawsuit was arrested after the violent encounter and charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

Dr. Joseph Sivak’s lawsuit against Leesburg dentist Eddie Orobitg in Lake County Circuit Court seeks more than $50,000 in damages, including medical and related expenses.

The suit says Sivak suffered “great physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent injury within a reasonable degree of medical probability,” lost income and capacity for enjoyment of life.

The April 30 incident at Harbor Hills Country Club made national headlines, including Fox News, some of which noted Orobitg’s advertising claim of having “a light touch.”

Lake County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call by Sivak’s wife, according to court records.

Sivak told deputies that he and his wife were walking on the golf cart path at Harbor Hills when Orobitg told him that he was breaking country club rules because the path was reserved for golf carts only.

The men began arguing. “He (Sivak) said at some point the defendant (Orobitg) struck him with a golf club on the side of his head from behind and that during the altercation he defended himself by striking the defendant with his water bottle,” the arrest affidavit says.

Sivak said Orobitg struck him several times with the golf club.

Deputies noted that Sivak had several cuts and a “ripped” ear lobe. They said Sivak was taken to the hospital by ambulance “for further evaluation due to potentially having broken ribs, potentially having a traumatic brain injury, as well as potentially having a broken jaw.”

According to the arrest affidavit, Orobitg told deputies he was golfing with his son when Sivak and his wife walked onto the course, and that he asked them to get out of the way. He said Sivak “got into his face and shoved him.”

He said Sivak then spit on him. That’s when the dispute became physical. Orobitg said Sivak threw a water bottle at him and he thought he was trying to reach one of his golf clubs.

Orobitg said he kept hitting Sivak to keep him from taking his clubs.

Deputies interviewed Orobitg’s juvenile son, who said his father spit in Sivak’s face and that Sivak retaliated by spitting on his father. He said Sivak pushed his dad. He said his father “accidentally” struck Sivak with his golf club while falling.

“He then stated that his father and the victim began physically fighting and his father began to strike the victim several times, even when the victim was on the ground,” the affidavit says.

Deputies noted blood and injuries on Sivak and blood on the golf clubs. The only injury to Orobitg was a cut on his hands, according to the arrest affidavit.

Sivak’s wife said Orobitg spit in her husband’s face first.

Orobitg was arrested and booked into jail, with bail set at $5,000. He has pleaded not guilty and his criminal case remains ongoing.

His lawyer, Nicholas Stack, filed a motion in court asking for the release of Sivak’s medical records. Those records were released, but the court ruled that they were not to be released publicly.

Orobitg practices general family dentistry at his Leesburg office, performs cosmetic dentistry, does implants, and periodontics, according to his website.

Sivak is a telepsychiatrist with MindCare Solutions. He was director of Behavioral Health with The Villages Health Systems LLC from 2016 to 2020.

So far, there is no legal challenge to the lawsuit. No trial date has been set in the criminal case. Orobitg faces a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Von Miller’s alleged victim: ‘No one assaulted anyone’

“No one assaulted anyone,” Von Miller’s alleged victim wrote in a text message to WFAA.

Von Miller turned himself in to police in Texas on Thursday and was released after posting bond. The Dallas Police Department had previously issued a warrant for Miller’s arrest on a charge of assaulting a pregnant person.

Miller’s longtime girlfriend accused him of domestic violence on Wednesday. According to the affidavit for the arrest warrant, the alleged victim told police that Miller’s abuse included placing a hand on her neck during an argument and applying pressure.

The affidavit says police officers arrived at the scene later and observed “minor abrasions” on her left hand, plus bruising on her neck, abdomen and left biceps. She was treated for minor injuries but not taken to a hospital.

Despite her initial allegations and the police observations, the accuser has now downplayed the incident in text messages to WFAA in Dallas. She called it “a huge misunderstanding” and described the incident as “a verbal disagreement.”

“We’re fine,” she wrote in a message to WFAA. “Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous!”

In a big contradiction to the initial story, she went on to say that there was no assault.

“No one assaulted anyone,” she wrote. “This is insane. And sad.”

Miller plays for the Buffalo Bills, who have a bye this week. He previously played for the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.

Von Miller turned himself in and was released after posting bond

Von Miller was booked into the DeSoto Tri-City Jail in Texas on Thursday and was later released after posting bond.

Von Miller turned himself in to police in Glenn Heights, Texas and was booked into the DeSoto Tri-City Jail on Thursday, according to a report from ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg.

The Dallas Police Department had issued a warrant for Miller’s arrest on a charge of assaulting a pregnant person. After being booked on Thursday, Miller posted bond and was released.

Miller has been accused by his longtime girlfriend of assault. From ESPN:

Per the affidavit, Miller stepped on her feet as he pushed her, which caused her to fall into a chair, and then using one hand, he applied pressure to her neck for three to five seconds, which caused pain, but not difficulty breathing, per the affidavit.

As she continued to try and gather her belongings, Miller grabbed her phone and threw her laptop on the floor and stomped on it. When she tried to retrieve it, he pulled her hair and caused her to fall to the ground and a chunk of her hair to come out. When she got up to leave and get her belongings, she started recording on a phone in her pocket, per the affidavit, and was grabbed again by Miller and pushed onto the couch and placed pressure on her neck with both hands, causing pain.

Miller, 34, plays for the Buffalo Bills, who have a bye this week. He previously played for the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.
