4-star LB Tavion Wallace signs with SEC program

Four-star in-state linebacker recruit Tavion Wallace has signed with Arkansas despite a late push from UGA and FSU

Four-star linebacker recruit Tavion Wallace has signed with the Arkansas Razorbacks despite a late push from the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida State Seminoles.

Wallace’s signing is a huge win for the Razorbacks, who have struggled to recruit in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Wallace is easily the Razorbacks’ best commitment in the class of 2025. Arkansas does not have any other four-star recruits according to 247Sports’ rankings.

The Razorbacks have the No. 32 recruiting class in the country. Arkansas has 22 total commitments.

Tavion Wallace plays high school football for Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound defender is the No. 13 ranked linebacker in the country. Wallace is ranked as the No. 124 recruit in the nation and the No. 15 prospect in Georgia, per 247Sports.

Wallace runs track and has elite speed (10.9 seconds in the 100 meters). Wallace has NFL bloodlines and a high level of potential. The Carolina Panthers drafted his brother, Trevin Wallace, in the third-round of the 2024 NFL draft. Trevin Wallace played college football at Kentucky.

Despite Wallace’s signing, Georgia still has an elite recruiting class at linebacker. UGA has signed the nation’s top linebacker in five-star Zayden Walker. Co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann has recruited linebackers better than any other coach in the country.

Where do the Oklahoma Sooners fall in USA Today Sports’ 1-134 rankings?

OU enters a bye week after dropping again in USA TODAY Sports’ 1-134 list.

The Oklahoma Sooners are now 5-5 overall on the nightmarish 2024 season. They’re just 1-5 in Southeastern Conference play, which isn’t the mark anyone around the program expected.

Despite going 4-0 in non-conference games, OU has been one of the worst teams in all of the Power Four this year. They have proven that they are far from being ready for the [autotag]SEC[/autotag] and Saturday’s embarrassing loss against Missouri only served to beat a dead horse.

We’re eleven weeks into this college football season, so we have a pretty good idea of where most teams stand with just three weeks left in the regular season. USA TODAY Sports takes on the weekly challenge of ranking all 134 teams that play at the FBS level, and their placement of [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag] team shows how far the once-proud program has fallen under his leadership.

Staff writer Paul Myerberg ranks Oklahoma, once a staple of the top 10, or at least the top 25, at No. 45 heading into week 12. It’s a six-spot drop from this time last week.

It’s an eye-opening position for Sooner Nation to find themselves in, and Myerberg’s ranking might actually be too generous to OU. The Sooners are sandwiched in-between Cincinnati at No. 44 and Arkansas at No. 46, both teams that would likely beat Oklahoma if they played this week.

No offense to the Bearcats or Razorbacks, but that’s not where a program like Oklahoma belongs in the pecking order of college football. It’ll take some soul-searching from everyone involved with the sinking program, from the top all the way to the bottom, if this thing is going to get turned back in the right direction.

Best Photos from Texas A&M’s 21-17 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks

Here are the best photos from Texas A&M’s 21-17 win over Arkansas

Texas A&M (4-1, 2-0 SEC) is now in first place in the SEC after defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks 21-17 on Saturday afternoon, as the Aggies defense came through late to seal the victory.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed, who made his third consecutive start, finished the game 11/22 for 163 yards and two touchdowns through the air while accounting for another score on the ground. However, Reed’s accuracy issues hindered OC Collin Klein’s play calling, opting to run the ball more than needed.

Defensively, junior defensive end Nic Scourton finished the game with four tackles, two sacks, and four tackles for loss in his best game of the year thus far. In contrast, the rest of the defensive line and secondary stepped up when needed, allowing just three points off a late Arkansas field goal in the second half.

Next Saturday, Texas A&M will return to Kyle Field to face an undefeated Missouri Tigers team coming off a bye week, as the Aggies hope to continue the momentum ride against one of the best offensive teams in the country.

Instant reactions to No. 24 Texas A&M football team win over Arkansas

The Aggies concluded the Southwest Classic era at AT&T Stadium on Saturday with a gritty conference win vs. Arkansas on national television.

The Texas A&M football team concluded the Southwest Classic era at AT&T Stadium this weekend with a gritty conference victory versus Arkansas on national television.

On Saturday afternoon at Jerry’s World in Arlington, the No. 24 Aggies (4-1, 1-0 SEC) won their fourth consecutive game with a 21-17 win against the Razorbacks (3-2, 1-1) on ESPN. The victory is Texas A&M’s 12th in the last 13 meetings versus Arkansas.

The conference contest looked like it would be a shootout initially as both teams scored on quick, three-play possessions to tie the score at 7-7 in the first quarter. The Aggies scored on a 58-yard touchdown pass from redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed to junior wide receiver Noah Thomas.

Texas A&M knotted the score 14-14 early in the second period with a 5-yard rushing score from Reed that was set up with a forced fumble in the red zone by junior defensive lineman Shemar Stewart. In the final quarter, Reed threw a go-ahead 5-yard tuddy to senior tight end Tre Watson.

Next up for the Aggies is a challenging SEC morning matchup against No. 11 Missouri. Texas A&M hosts the Tigers at Kyle Field on Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. on ABC.
