Postgame Twitter Bonanza: OMG! Finally, Arkansas fans let out sigh of relief

Arkansas fans are excited and relieved with the win over Florida on Saturday.

Not only is the excitement evident, but the sigh of relief is even bigger, for Arkansas fans after the Razorbacks went into the daunted Swamp on Saturday and defeated the Florida Gators 39-36 in overtime, thus snapping a miserable six-game losing streak.

There were still many doubters in Razorback-land coming into the game, despite the Hogs being only a 3-point underdog. And although it looked at times like the streak would move to seven, KJ Jefferson hit Tyrone Broden for a 4-yard touchdown pass in the extra period to stop the skid.

Fans and others took to Twitter … err, X … following the game to finally display their cheer for the Razorbacks.

Here is what was being posted:

What Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said after Hogs win over Florida

Sam Pittman said he had a feeling on Wednesday his team would beat the Gators. He was right.

Sam Pittman said he had a feeling Wednesday his team would snap its losing streak Saturday.

He was right.

Arkansas beat Florida, 39-36, in overtime in Gainesville, the program’s first victory in the Swamp, to snap a six-game skid and give the Razorbacks their SEC win of the season. It also kept alive the possibility for a bowl with three games left in the season.

Pittman was glowing after the game, proud of his team, proud of his coaches and mostly proud of the return to form for a group that some predicted could win eight games this season.

The eight are out of reach, but if Arkansas continues playing like it did against the Gators, goals are still reachable.

Here’s what the Arkansas head coach had to say after the game.

Players of the Game: Jefferson, Little headline Arkansas’ best in Hogs win

It’s safe to say Kenny Guiton’s first game as Arkansas’ offensive coordinator was a success.

KJ Jefferson had the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime. Cam Little kicked four field goals.

Arkansas’ quarterback and kicker were, accordingly, easy choices as RazorbacksWire Players of the Game in Arkansas’ 39-36 win over Florida on Saturday. A win, by the way, that snapped a six-game losing streak and gave the program its first-ever victory in Gainesville.

Jefferson and Little were hardly the only players that shined, though. New offensive coordinator Kenny Guiton’s offense was dynamic througout, especially as it had a healthy Rocket Sanders at running back.

On defense, Arkansas has had better games this year, but the defensive backs were especially aggressive, providing a showcase for Dwight McGlothern, Jaylen Braxton and Snaxx Johnson.

In all, we have five Players of the Game, but on a day like Saturday, to say it was a team effort is wholly accurate.

Arkansas beats Florida in overtime, snaps six-game skid

Arkansas picked up its first-ever win in Gainesville and looked pretty good doing it.

KJ Jefferson to Tyrone Broden.

The connection from the Arkansas quarterback to the Arkansas wide receiver on the Razorbacks’ first possession of overtime resulted in a four-yard touchdown and gave the Hogs a 39-36 win over Florida.

The victory snapped a six-game losing streak, provided Arkansas with its first SEC win of the year and its first ever win in Gainesville.

Jefferson was excellent in perhaps his best game of the season. He went 20 of 31 passing for 255 yards and two scores. He ran for another 92 yards and a touchdown.

He was helped by Rocket Sanders, the preseason All-American who had more yards against Florida than he had in his three games entering the season. Sanders went for 103 on the ground on 18 carries.

And then there was Cam Little. Arkansas’ kicker. He went 4 for 5 on field-goal attempts in offensive coordinator Kenny Guiton’s first game in the role.

Arkansas’ offense showed out for Guiton, registering 481 yards, a season high.

Florida went 54 yards in 44 seconds on its final drive of regulation, giving kicker Trey Smack a potential game-winning field-goal attempt from 44 yards with eight seconds left. His kick went wide right and the teams went to overtime.

Before that, Florida scored a touchdown with 3:02 left in the fourth quarter, countering Arkansas’ score on the previous drive, to re-take the lead, 33-30, and the Gators held the Hogs’ final drive at bay, sending the Razorbacks to a seventh straight loss this season and keeping Arkansas winless all time in Gainesville.

Cam Little made a 49-yarder tie things back up, leading to Florida’s final drive of regulation.

WATCH: KJ Jefferson looks like old self, gives Arkansas late lead against Florida

Jefferson kept Arkansas in the game against Florida, but needed even more later.

KJ Jefferson was the preseason second-team All-SEC quarterback for a reason.

Saturday, late in Arkansas’ game against Florida, he showed why.

Jefferson led Arkansas on a 10-play, 84-yard drive that spanned 3:27 and gave the Razorbacks a 30-26 lead over the Gators with 4:26 left.

The senior quarterback ran for 55 of those 84 yards on the go-ahead drive, practically willing Arkansas along the way by converting both third downs. Isaiah Sategna helped, too, as the redshirt freshman caught three balls on the series.

Arkansas entered Saturday’s game in Gainesville not only winless all-time in the Swamp, but also winless on the season in the SEC. The Razorbacks need to win each of their remaining games to earn bowl eligibility.

Florida regained the lead on its ensuing drive.

The Arkansas Razorbacks got off to a quick start in the first half against Florida.

Their first offensive drive under [autotag]Kenny Guiton[/autotag] went 7 plays, for 75 yards and ended with a touchdown. On the first play from scrimmage for the Florida offense, Arkansas defensive back Jaylon Braxton stripped the ball from Ricky Pearsall and took it 34 yards for a touchdown.

Arkansas led 14-0 less than three minutes into the game, but it was rather ugly from that point on. Florida settled in and scored two touchdowns to the tie game back up. Meanwhile, the Razorback offensive line continued to struggle, which led to plays not being able to develop and drives ending very quickly.

The two teams traded field goals before halftime, and that’s where things stand now. Follow along below for live drive-by-drive and score-by-score updates from the second half in “The Swamp” in Gainesville.

Wow! Check out Jaylen Braxton’s strip-and-score for Arkansas on Florida

Arkansas scored on literal back-to-back plays in the first quarter, giving the Hogs their first 14-0 lead of the SEC season.

Something weird is happening in Florida.

Well, something weirder than normal.

Arkansas went ahead on the Gators, 14-0, less than three minutes into the game. The Razorbacks, losers of six straight games and with a brand-new offensive coordinator, have never won in Gainesville.

But after KJ Jefferson threw a touchdown pass to AJ Green on the team’s first drive, the Hogs would score on the very next play, too.

Florida quarterback Graham Mertz completed a pass to Ricky Pearsall near the sideline for about three yards before Arkansas began to swarm. Before Pearsall was truly tackled, cornerback Jaylen Braxton pulled the ball from Pearsall’s hands. Ripped, maybe, is more accurate.

The freshman corner took the ball back the other way 34 yards to provide Arkansasa with its first 14-point lead of its SEC season.

Watch: Arkansas absolutely marches down the field on first drive against Florida

The Kenny Guiton Effect is real for Arkansas. At least to start things against Florida.

Kenny Guiton’s start as Arkansas offensive coordinator could have been better.

In his first game calling plays after taking over for the now-fired Dan Enos, Guiton’s Razorbacks scored a touchdown on the first drive of the game against Florida. Running back AJ Green caught a touchdown pass in the flat from KJ Jefferson as Jefferson was perfect on the drive.

Enos was fired after Arkansas scored just three points against Mississippi State two weeks ago. Guiton was promoted from wide receivers coach. On his first play call, Green took a direct snap, handed the ball to Jefferson and the quarterback hooked up with Ty Washington for a gain of 25 yards.

Arkansas has never beaten Florida on the road in Gainesville.

Arkansas looks to end their six-game losing streak as they face Florida in “The Swamp.” Follow along for live updates from today’s game.

Arkansas is nursing a six-game losing streak enter Saturday’s game against the Florida Gators. Despite the season-long struggle, the Hogs are looking to get a jolt of energy on the offensive side of the ball.

Offensive coordinator Dan Enos was fired shortly after the Razorbacks’ 7-3 loss to Mississippi State two weeks ago, making way for wide receivers coach – and former Ohio State quarterback – Kenny Guiton to take the play-calling reins. Arkansas’s offense was ranked 120th out of 130 FBS programs, under Enos.

Surprisingly, the bettors in Vegas seem to have loaded up on the Hogs this week. The current line on the game has Arkansas getting 3.5 points, dropping two full points since Thursday.

Guiton spent four years working under former Razorback offensive coordinator Kendall Briles, who departed for TCU after last season. So, it can be expected that the Hogs will revert back to what they have done the previous three seasons, under Briles, which is a much faster pace of play with quarterback KJ Jefferson improvising outside of the pocket.

Arkansas (2-6, 0-5 SEC) was off last week, giving the Hogs’ extra time to get adjusted to a new offensive coordinator, and allowed them to get some guys healthy for the stretch run.

Here’s updates from the first half of today’s action from Gainesville.

Pregame Twitter buzz: New OC, new hope for struggling Hogs

New offensive coordinator gives Hogs new hope, with a trip to Gainesville to face the Florida Gators.

With new interim offensive coordinator Kenny Guiton in tow, Razorback fans are hopeful that a new spark will be brought to a currently down-trodden football team.

The Hogs are reeling with a six-game losing streak, as they take to the road to face the Florida Gators in the daunted Swamp – a place no Razorback team has ever won.

Although the switch from the ousted Dan Enos to Guiton, in the play-caller seat, has given some fans new hope for some sort of a turn-around, others are expecting the same outcome of the past month and a half.
