How many games will the Arizona Diamondbacks win in the 60-game 2020 MLB season? We look at the Diamondbacks MLB futures odds, including their projected 2020 win total and Over/Under odds at BetMGM, and make our best bet.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2019 recap

The Diamondbacks had a solid 2019 going 85-77, but fell short of the postseason, four games out of the wild card. They were, however, the second-best NL team and fourth best in the majors vs. the run line, posting a 90-72 record. They were dead even vs. the Over/Under, going 76-76-10. In the NL West, they were an even 38-38 straight up and 41-35 against the run line.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ offseason

They made a splash, adding SP Madison Bumgarner. They also signed C Stephen Vogt, OF Kole Calhoun and RP Hector Rondon, and acquired OF Starling Marte in a trade. SP Mike Leake, added at last year’s trade deadline, has opted out of the 60-game season, while OF Steven Souza Jr., SP Taijuan Walker, RP Yoshihisa Hirano and C Alex Avila signed free-agent deals with other clubs.

How many games will the Arizona Diamondbacks win in 2020?

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday, July 2 at 8 a.m. ET.

The D-Backs’ win total is just over .500 at 30.5, with the Over at -120 and the Under at +100. They definitely should be improved with the additions of Bumgarner and Marte. The starting rotation is not spectacular, but it is deep and they don’t have problems scoring runs. They will be in the mix in the NL West. Take the OVER (-120) 30.5 WINS.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ World Series odds

At +5000, the D-Backs are a long shot to win the World Series. They have a tough road with the Los Angeles Dodgers in their division. Arizona is talented, but will need lot of things to go right at the right time to be considered a good bet for the title. AVOID.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ playoff odds

In terms of winning the NL pennant, they are +2500. That is NOT WORTH a bet. They are +1000 to win the NL West, but having to beat out the Dodgers is just about impossible. AVOID making any futures bet on the Diamondbacks.

WATCH: MLB confirms considering self-contained season, but ‘has not settled on that option’

Arizona could become home base for all 30 MLB teams this summer.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported late Monday night that Arizona could become home base for all 30 MLB teams this summer, using the Diamondbacks’ Chase Field and spring training facilities throughout the Phoenix metro area to play a sequestered season of sorts.

Passan’s report indicates that players, coaching staff and essential personnel for all 30 teams would stay isolated in local hotels, leaving only to go to and from baseball games.

Major League Baseball confirmed on Tuesday that the league is looking into playing its 2020 season in a single location, but says it has not settled on any decisions just yet.

Here’s the complete statement from the league:

“MLB has been actively considering numerous contingency plans that would allow play to commence once the public health situation has improved to the point that it is safe to do so. While we have discussed the idea of staging games at one location as one potential option, we have not settled on that option or developed a detailed plan. While we continue to interact regularly with governmental and public health officials, we have not sought or received approval of any plan from federal, state and local officials, or the Players Association. The health and safety of our employees, players, fans and the public at large are paramount, and we are not ready at this time to endorse any particular format for staging games in light of the rapidly changing public health situation caused by the coronavirus.”

WATCH: MLB cancels London series between Cubs and Cardinals

Major League Baseball has canceled its two-game London Series between the Cubs and the Cardinals.

Major League Baseball has canceled the two-game London series between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, which was set to be played at Olympic Stadium June 13-14.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told MLB employees of the cancellation through a memo sent on Wednesday.

“We made the decision because it was unlikely the events would go forward, and timely cancellation allowed us to preserve important financial resources.”

The league had already canceled its Mexico City and Puerto Rico series in March. The Diamondbacks and Padres were set to play the first-ever regular-season games in Mexico City April 18-19. The Miami Marlins and New York Mets were scheduled to play in San Juan, Puerto Rico, April 28-30.

The D-backs had no idea that Madison Bumgarner secretly competed in rodeo events

Secret’s out.

Madison Bumgarner’s cover as a successful rodeo and team-roping competitor named “Mason Saunders” was blown on Sunday when The Athletic reported that the newly acquired Diamondbacks pitcher had been competing under an alias for years.

It wasn’t much of a secret around the rodeo and roping community — they all knew that “Mason Saunders” was really the three-time World Series champion. The Diamondbacks, though, were not privy to Bumgarner’s second (and secret) professional sports life.

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen spoke to reporters on Monday about the star pitcher’s rodeo career, and he said that the team wasn’t aware of it until The Athletic published its story.

Obviously, the Diamondbacks would have preferred to know about Bumgarner’s rodeo career before they gave him a five-year, $85 million contract. But Hazen wouldn’t go into details about what sort of activities Bumgarner’s contract prohibits. Sports contracts often prohibit high-risk activities like motorcycles, skydiving and horseback riding.

But it also doesn’t sound like the Diamondbacks will stop Bumgarner from participating in such events.

Yet with the secret out in the open, Mason Saunders’ time on the rodeo circuit could be over. It just won’t be the same for Bumgarner anymore.

Madison Bumgarner has been secretly competing in rodeos under a fake name

Mason Saunders?

MLB and major sports contracts often prohibit players from participating in dangerous activities. They’re usually not allowed to ride motorcycles. Patrick Mahomes isn’t allowed to play basketball. Some contracts even prohibit horseback riding.

Let’s hope that Madison Bumgarner is contractually in the clear because for the past few years, the newly acquired Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher has been secretly competing in rodeos.

The secret was out this weekend.

On Sunday, The Athletic came across a Facebook photo from December posted by Racho Rio — a Wickenburg, Arizona-based rodeo ranch. The photo was of a competitor named “Mason Saunders.”

Mason Saunders, though, was actually a four-time MLB All-Star and a three-time World Series champion.

There was another photo of Bumgarner competing on horseback while being called “Mason Saunders” in the caption.

But this wasn’t exactly a secret that Bumgarner was ashamed about or even diligently kept under wraps. He owned up to it right away. He said to The Athletic:

“Oh boy,” Bumgarner said Sunday when shown the photo. “This is ruining my alias.”

And he continued, explaining that he used the alias mostly to keep word of his participation within the rodeo world.

Why the alias then? That was to protect his adventures from garnering too much attention outside the insular world of roping. (“I’m nervous about this interview right now,” Bumgarner said through a smile to a pair of reporters from The Athletic at one point. “I’m upset with both you two.”) If he competed as Madison Bumgarner, every phone camera in the arena would be trained on him, he said.

But now that word is out, the baseball world needs to see MadBum in action. This story is too good.

How many games will the Arizona Diamondbacks win in 2020?

Analyzing the Arizona Diamondbacks projected win total for the 2020 MLB season, along with their odds to win the NL West and World Series.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming off a second-place finish in the National League West division in 2019 and look to return to the MLB playoffs this season for the first time since 2017. Today, we focus on the Diamondbacks’ 2020 regular-season win total and World Series odds. Do the Diamondbacks have what it takes? Let’s analyze:

Arizona Diamondbacks 2019 wins

The Diamondbacks went 85-77 last season but finished a resounding 21 games back of the NL West-champion Los Angeles Dodgers. They came up four games shy of a wild-card berth despite an impressive plus-70 run differential. It was Arizona’s third straight season finishing above .500.

Arizona Diamondbacks offseason

Free-agent LHP Madison Bumgarner was the Diamondbacks’ biggest catch of the offseason, luring him away from the division-rival San Francisco Giants. OF Starling Marte was also acquired via trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates to bolster the defense and offense. Manager Torey Lovullo returns for a fourth season in the desert.

Arizona Diamondbacks odds to win NL West division

The Diamondbacks (+1000) are the second favorite in what’s always a competitive NL West. They lead the San Diego Padres (+1200), Colorado Rockies (+5000) and Giants (+10000) in chasing the incumbent champion Dodgers (-1000).

With LA being far too chalky to warrant a bet within the division, the Diamondbacks are a strong value coming off a second-place finish in 2019. They’re worth a small wager to protect against injuries derailing the Dodgers’ season.

Arizona Diamondbacks World Series odds

The Diamondbacks and Padres share +4000 odds to win the World Series, despite Arizona having an edge in the division race. This makes the D-Backs the better bet to win it all in 2020.

While they haven’t won the World Series since 2001 (with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling sharing the World Series MVP) their offense is stacked with a mix of power and speed, and Bumgarner and Robbie Ray lead the rotation. They’re worth a look for a World Series futures bet without much reasonable value beyond the +4000 cut-off.

How many games will the Diamondbacks win in 2020?

The Diamondbacks’ 2020 win total has been set at 82.5 entering the season with the OVER (-120) being the play. The Under (+100) is offering even-money, but the D-Backs have topped this projection in two of the last three seasons and finished 82-80 in 2018.

The Dodgers won last season’s head-to-head series with the Diamondbacks 11-8. It was a respectable mark for Arizona, as it should be able to rack up the bulk of its wins against the weaker teams in the division and around the rest of the National League. Marte and Bumgarner alone should add about six wins to last season’s total of 85, according to Fangraphs‘ WAR (wins above replacement).
