1 pending free agent Dolphins should avoid from each AFC East team

With so much cap space, the Dolphins need to be selective with who they pursue in free agency. Here’s who they should skip in the AFC East.

The Miami Dolphins roster rebuild isn’t just about the players added to the roster via the draft and free agency. No, some of the most important moves are the ones that the Dolphins decide not to make. Because one wrong decision can hinder on the field play, it could hinder the team’s salary cap situation, it could sour the chemistry in the locker room and more. The Dolphins have an embarrassment of assets at their disposal, but that doesn’t mean the team should spend like gangbusters and sign anyone that moves to a deal.

Looking across the NFL landscape, there’s a ton of potential contributors set to hit the market. The Dolphins will need to choose their spots wisely. Here’s one pending free agent from each team in the AFC East that the Dolphins should pass on calling:

New England Patriots – Quarterback Tom Brady

Thanks but no thanks. When the prospect of Ryan Fitzpatrick’s return was unsettled and the Dolphins still had an offensive coaching staff filled with former Patriot assistants, that was one thing. But with the offensive coordinator change and the confirmed return of Fitzpatrick, signing Tom Brady to play in Miami for a few years as a 43-year old quarterback doesn’t make a lot of sense for the Dolphins.

It was a fun idea — and for a few weeks there it at least made you stop and think. But the Dolphins, despite their seemingly endless cap space, would be unwise to invest in Brady while they’re still looking to build for the future.

We’d still like to see Tom somewhere other than New England next year. You know, just to mix it up a little bit.

1 pending free agent Chargers should target: AFC East Edition

Chargers Wire lists one pending free agent from each team in the AFC East that the Los Angeles Chargers could target.

The Los Angeles Chargers are set to enter free agency with the most salary cap available since Tom Telesco took over as general manager in 2013.

Even though the franchise has some in-house players that will need to get paid, there’s a great chance that Telesco and company will be aggressive in signing other soon-to-be free agents to bolster an already talented roster, with the hopes of making a quick turnaround after finishing 5-11 in 2019.

With that being said, we are going to list one pending free agent from each team in the NFL that could be a realistic target for L.A. Next up is the AFC East.

Buffalo Bills – G Quinton Spain

The Chargers could be looking to find starters at both guard spots this offseason. Michael Schofield is a pending free agent. Forrest Lamp hasn’t been able to stay healthy, and Dan Feeney’s play has been a mixed bag of results.

Spain joined the Bills this past year after spending his first four seasons in the league with the Titans. He became a key piece of the Bills remodeled offensive line, playing every snap (1,063) while not allowing a sack during the entire 2019 regular season.

Spain signed with Buffalo on a one-year, “prove-it” deal, but after proving his worth, he will require a little bit more. A three-year deal worth $21 million would be reasonable to acquire the 28-year old.

Look: Aqib Talib and John Johnson reunite to give kids shopping spree

Aqib Talib returned to Los Angeles to make good on his holiday promise.

Aqib Talib is no longer a member of the Rams after the team traded him to the Dolphins in October, but he hasn’t completely abandoned Southern California. He previously made a commitment to take the Watts Rams football team on a shopping spree in Inglewood this holiday season and on Tuesday, he kept his word.

He flew back out to Los Angeles to make good on his promise to take them shopping, with John Johnson joining him.

Talib is on injured reserve and won’t play for the Dolphins this season, so he didn’t see a reason why he couldn’t fly out to the West Coast for a little while to support the community after making a commitment earlier.

Talib and Johnson weren’t the only ones doing good in the community on their days off, either. Michael Brockers, Sebastian Joseph-Day and Tanzel Smart also took a group of kids from the Boys & Girls Club shopping at Target.

Why do the Rams forget about RB Todd Gurley and other questions for Rams Wire in Week 12

The Baltimore Ravens get to prove themselves once again in front of a national audience, this time on “Monday Night Football” against the Los Angeles Rams. The Ravens have been playing great football but haven’t seen a defense as physically talented as what the Rams have, making it a tough test for Week 12.

With so much change coming for Los Angeles, even during the season itself, I sat down with Cameron DaSilva to get the inside scoop on what the Rams have going for them right now. Take a look at the five questions this week, including why running back Todd Gurley seems to be an afterthought at times.

1) Jared Goff has not played well this season. Why has he struggled so much?

The offensive line has played a huge part in his struggles. He’s not getting much time in the pocket and has been hit 31 times – tied for the seventh-most in the league. As a result of the constant pressure he’s been under, he’s also struggled when given a clean pocket. It’s almost as if he’s expecting pressure, panicking and throwing the ball earlier than he needs to.

He was such a good play-action passer last season and the year before, but that hasn’t been the case this year. He has zero touchdown passes and five interceptions off of play-action after being one of the best play-action QBs in the NFL last season.
