49ers have 2 unanimous First-Team All-Pros

Seven members of the San Francisco 49ers were represented on the 2023 AP All-Pro team.

After securing the No. 1 overall seed with the best overall record in the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers’ star-studded roster is already being decorated with individual accolades.

While multiple players have been voted to participate in the Pro Bowl, the 49ers will also be well-represented on the Associated Press All-Pro team for 2023.

Seven total players from the 49ers were included on the All-Pro team, including two unanimous First-Team All-Pros. Only three players receivined unanimous nods for the All-Pro First-Team, and two of them were members of the 49ers.

Running back Christian McCaffrey and linebacker Fred Warner were unanimous First-Team All-Pros. Miami Dolphins pass catcher Tyreek Hill also received a unanimous vote.

Antoine Winfield Jr. named AP First Team All-Pro

Winfield Jr. may have been snubbed for the Pro Bowl, but he got the one that matters — he’s a First Team All-Pro!

Bucs safety Antoine Winfield Jr. was one of the best safeties in the league, and now, he’s been officially recognized.

The Associated Press released their list of All-Pros on Friday, and the award is generally considered the most prestigious one can earn outside of individual awards such as MVP and the Player of the Year awards. Winfield Jr. was named as one of the two best safeties in the NFL with a First Team nod, next to the Baltimore Ravens’ Kyle Hamilton.

Winfield Jr. was not only one of the best safeties in the league, but one of the best defensive players in the league period. He finished his year with 76 solo tackles, six forced fumbles, three interceptions and six sacks. Winfield Jr. has been a chess piece on defense all year, and he has quite literally saved numerous games perhaps on his own — two of those forced fumbles were punched out of the end zone for touchbacks from players that would have netted six points.

Winfield Jr. is the ninth defensive player and second safety to be named First Team All-Pro in franchise history, the first being Bucs safety and current 49ers general manager John Lynch (who won it twice). The accolade comes during a contract year, so it stands to reason that he should get a pretty big payday this offseason in free agency.

He’ll have ample opportunity to continue a stellar campaign on Monday when the Bucs play the Eagles in the Wild Card Round at 8 p.m.

Davante Adams says Raiders teammate Maxx Crosby ‘brutally snubbed’ for All-Pro

Maxx Crosby ‘brutally snubbed’ for All-Pro as Davante Adams put it. And he’s absolutely right.

When is three All-Pros not enough? When a fourth was warranted.

On Friday, the Associated Press put out their All-Pro first and second teams. Among them, the Raiders had three first-teamers. That’s great and all, but it’s hard not to think about the one who was left off both teams.

One Maxx Crosby.

The three who made the first team were RB Josh Jacobs, WR Davante Adams, and K Daniel Carlson.

All were deserving to be certain. But so too was Crosby. If not for the first team, then at least for the second team.

Adams took to Twitter to voice his displeasure that his elite defensive teammate did not join him among the All-Pro honors.

“Brutally snubbed” are strong words. But accurate. Though I don’t know how can be held accountable for the snubbing.

How is it that Crosby was snubbed? Almost certainly because the voters haven’t been paying attention and just looked at which players had the most sacks and at nothing else. Because had they looked at anything else, there’s simply no way they’d come away not casting a vote for Crosby.

The first team edge rushers were Nick Bosa and Micah Parsons. Second team was Myles Garrett and Haason Reddick.

Bosa led the league with 16.5 sacks while Garrett and Reddick tied for second with 16 apiece. Parsons was seventh with 13.5 sacks. Just ahead of Crosby who had 12.5.

Other than that, the only player among them who even shows up even in Crosby’s orbit was Bosa who was the only player to have more QB hits (48) than Crosby (35) and was second (19) behind Crosby (22) in tackles for loss.

And we haven’t even mentioned his overall tackle numbers. Crosby absolutely destroyed the field in that area.

Crosby’s 88 combined tackles led all defensive ends by a wide margin. There isn’t an edge rusher in the league who came within even 20 tackles of that. And there isn’t a player in the NFL with over five sacks who had more run stops than the 44 Crosby had.

It’s utterly absurd the think there are four players more deserving of being an All-Pro than Crosby.

Brutally snubbed is pretty accurate.

3 Raiders named AP First Team All-Pro

Davante Adams, Josh Jacobs, and Daniel Carlson are AP First Team All-Pro. Maxx Crosby snubbed.

The Associated Press put out their 2022 All Pro first team today. Making the team was three standout Raiders — RB Josh Jacobs, WR Davante Adams, and K Daniel Carlson.

Jacobs led the league in rushing (1653) by a pretty safe margin. He also scored 12 touchdowns.

Adams led the league in receiving touchdowns (14) and was third in receiving yards (1516).

Carlson set a new NFL record with 11 made field goals from 50 yards or more and was tied for second in the league with 34 made field goals.

Maxx Crosby was not only snubbed from the first team, but he didn’t make second team either.

49ers Nick Bosa says he and Maxx Crosby are best edge rushers in NFL

Nick Bosa says he and Maxx Crosby are best edge rushers in NFL. No lies detected.

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”vKK5Kd2RcU-2449444-7498″]

With just over a week left in the NFL regular season, we will soon find out who the Associated Press has named All-Pro for the 2022 season. It could be that two of this year’s All-Pro edge rushers will be playing on opposite sides of the field on Sunday.

At least that’s what Nick Bosa believes.

No lies detected.

In fact, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said the same of Crosby this week.

Bosa is a three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher and a frontrunner for being named All-Pro for the first time in his career. He and Crosby entered the league in the same 2019 draft. Though quite a few picks apart from each other. Bosa was the 2nd overall pick and Crosby was selected in the 4th round.

Yet, the two find themselves on similar footing atop the league with two games remaining.

Bosa leads the league with 17.5 sacks. That’s usually a recipe for being named an All-Pro at his position.

Meanwhile, Crosby leads the league in several other categories that can often go unnoticed considering the importance placed on sacks (of which he has 11.5 this season)

Crosby’s 19 tackles for loss leads the league, while his 81 combined tackles leads all defensive linemen. And his 33 QB hits are second behind only Bosa (42).

Raiders DE Maxx Crosby, K Daniel Carlson named AP 2nd Team All-Pro

Raiders land two on All-Pro 2nd Team

Just one Raiders player was named First Team All-Pro. That’s punter AJ Cole who got it with 21 votes. But he wasn’t alone in the voting. Two other Raiders got enough votes to earn themselves a place on the Second Team.

DE Maxx Crosby got six All-Pro votes, which landed him on the second team along with Robert Quinn. TJ Watt and Myles Garrett made the First Team. Crosby led the NFL with 101 pressures, but his eight sacks weren’t enough to compete with Garrett’s 16 and certainly not Watt’s new NFL record 22.5 sacks.

K Daniel Carlson had a tremendous season, but found himself behind Justin Tucker in the voting. Carlson received eight votes and was named to the Second Team.

Just missing the cut was Cole and Carlson’s long snapper Trent Sieg whose four votes was tied for third.

Also receiving votes was LB Denzel Perryman (2) putting him tied for ninth in the voting. Perryman made his first ever Pro Bowl this year after leading the NFL in tackles much of the season.

Chiefs players snubbed from AP First-Team All-Pro selections

No #Chiefs players were voted as a First-Team All-Pro by the Associated Press this season.

The Kansas City Chiefs won’t have AP First-Team All-Pro selection for the first time since 2017.

The Associated Press announced their annual All-Pro Teams on Friday, with a panel of 50 NFL writers and broadcasters coming together to vote on a team of the best-of-the-best NFL players. Only six Chiefs players received All-Pro votes this year, and none were voted First-Team All-Pro and only two players (Travis Kelce and Chris Jones) were voted Second-Team All-Pro.

Here is a breakdown of the votes that Chiefs players received:

Noticeably absent is Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes, who finished fourth in the NFL in passing yardage and tied for fourth in the league in passing touchdowns. He didn’t receive a single All-Pro vote with Aaron Rodgers (34) and Tom Brady (16) as the only two quarterbacks receiving recognition from All-Pro voters.

Also absent is WR Tyreek Hill, who was a First-Team All-Pro in 2020 and had the sixth-most receiving yards among his position group this season. Only five receivers got votes this time around, with Cooper Kupp (50) and Davante Adams (50).

While AP All-Pro awards aren’t handed out by the NFL, these are the ones that count most toward a player’s legacy. They are included in the NFL record and fact book, and always carry weight when it comes to future selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Needless to say, the lack of recognition should be a huge motivator for this Chiefs team heading into the playoffs. They’re looking to reach a third consecutive Super Bowl and prove they remain the team to beat in the AFC conference.
