Rutgers basketball lands impressive forward Antonio Chol

Antonio Chol commits to Rutgers basketball.

It is either a late addition to the class of 2022 or an early committmentfor next season’s recruiting class. Either way, Rutgers basketball is adding an intriguing and talented piece in Antonio Chol.

A bit under-the-radar, Chol is a 6-foot-8 forward from Minnesota Prepatory Academy (Minneapolis, MN). He is reclassifying to the class of 2022 according to Jerry Carino.

He was the fifth-best player in New York according to 247Sports before his move to Minnesota. Chol was a three-star recruit according to their rankings.

He held offers from Akron, Buffalo, Loyola-Marymount, New Mexico and St. Bonaventure among others according to Rivals.

He announced his commitment late on Friday:

Chol has tremendous length and his defending on and off the ball is impressive. He is a good rebounder and shot blocker. But he has some nice savvy offensively.

Three-star Antonio Chol offered by Rutgers basketball

Antonio Chol gets an offer from Rutgers basketball this week.

Rutgers basketball offered Antonio Chol this week. For the Scarlet Knights, they are getting involved with a player whose skillset definitely fits a need on their roster.

A 6-foot-8 forward from Minnesota Prepatory Academy, Chol holds offers from Loyola Marymount and New Mexico in addition to his most recent offer from the Scarlet Knights. He is a three-star according to 247Sports and the third-best player in New York (Chol originally hails from Buffalo).

Chol reclassified back to the 2023 class.

Chol has tremendous length and is an explosive athlete. He defends and rebound well, certainly checking off two important attributes for head coach Steve Pikiell. He also runs the court well and is a solid inside presence.

Chol tweeted about the offer on April 11:

Rutgers is certainly looking to add length and size in this current class as well as the transfer portal. Earlier this week, the Scarlet Knights lost out on center Neal Quinn, who was a target in the transfer portal.

He committed to Richmond.

Quinn hails from Ramapo, N.J. and played three seasons as Lafayette. Rutgers had brought in Quinn in late March for a visit.
