Madden 24 ratings for every Patriots tight end

Here’s how the Patriots’ tight ends rated in the upcoming “Madden NFL 24” video game.

The New England Patriots haven’t given up on their pursuit of reviving the tight end position. So they ditched the Jonnu Smith bandwagon and attached themselves to a new wagon altogether.

“Madden NFL 24” will feature Hunter Henry and newly-signed Patriots tight end Mike Gesicki. The hope is that the two form the sort of one-two punch that Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez created on the field back in 2011.

Gesicki doesn’t provide much in the way of blocking, but he basically acts as another wide receiver on the field, which is exactly what the Patriots need after failing to land a big, elite outside target. The combination of Henry and Gesicki should be able to mask the other issues to some degree.

Here’s a look at the ratings for every Patriots tight end in the upcoming Madden 24 video game:

Reading the room: Evaluating tight ends on Patriots’ roster

It’ll be the Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki Show at tight end, but others could contribute at the position for the Patriots.

The New England Patriots have always loved their tight ends, and they doubled down at the position in 2021 by signing Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith at the same time.

Fast forward to 2023, and Smith is in Atlanta, while the Patriots brought in Mike Gesicki as a replacement.

Offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien pioneered 12 personnel for the Patriots in his first stint with the team. He brought in Will Lawing, who has followed him in his previous stints, to coach the tight end position. There’s hope the two can work together to create a new gold standard at the position.

For now, here’s what things look like for the Patriots’ 2023 tight end group:

Patriots TE Anthony Firkser’s contract details revealed

Here’s what Anthony Firkser’s new contract with the Patriots looks like.

The contract details for New England Patriots tight end Anthony Firkser were released on Tuesday.

According to KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson, Firkser signed a one-year, $1.08 million deal with the Patriots.

He comes to New England by way of the Atlanta Falcons. The Harvard product caught nine passes for 100 yards with Atlanta last season. His best season came with the Tennessee Titans in 2020, when he caught 39 passes for 387 yards and a touchdown.

New England has a crowded tight end room, headlined by Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki. Nevertheless, Firkser should help provide depth at the position, which could be important in Bill O’Brien’s offense.

Former Titans TE Anthony Firkser agrees to terms with Patriots

Former Titans TE Anthony Firkser has reportedly landed with the Patriots.

Former Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons tight end Anthony Firkser has reportedly agreed to terms on a deal with the New England Patriots.

The news comes from ESPN’s Mike Reiss, who notes that Firkser will be competing for the No. 3 tight end role. The length and financial terms of Firkser’s deal were not disclosed.

An undrafted free agent out of Harvard, Firkser spent his first four seasons with the Titans, where he proved to be a solid pass-catcher and compiled 1,107 yards and five touchdowns in that span.

Firkser was expected to take on a bigger role in 2021 but that never panned out, leading to his exit from Nashville the following offseason.

The 28-year-old landed with his former Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Atlanta in 2022, appearing in 11 games and tallying 100 yards and zero touchdowns before not being brought back this offseason.

Firkser will now look to get his career back on track in New England.

Report: Veteran TE Anthony Firkser agrees to deal with Patriots

The Patriots are reportedly adding to their tight end room.

Things just got deeper at the tight end position for the New England Patriots with the team reportedly agreeing to terms on a deal with veteran Anthony Firkser.

Historians likely remember Firkser helping drive a stake into the hearts of Patriots fans in Tom Brady’s final game with the team in the wild card round of the playoffs in the 2019 season. He hauled in two receptions for 23 yards and one of only two touchdowns scored by the Titans in that game.

Those numbers won’t necessarily blow anyone away, but Firkser has a tendency to show up when it counts.

He’s also capable of lining up in the backfield. So don’t sleep on the possibility of him getting in on a little fullback action for a Patriots team that’ll be hell-bent on running the ball down their opponent’s throat.

He played in 11 games last season for the Atlanta Falcons and hauled in nine receptions for 100 yards.

The Patriots already have Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki as their top-two options at the tight end position. That means Firkser might have to compete with the likes of Matt Sokol, Johnny Lumpkin and Scotty Washington for that third tight end spot.

Ex-Titans TE Anthony Firkser will still host football camp in Nashville

Unlike A.J. Brown, Anthony Firkser will still host his football camp in Tennessee.

Former Tennessee Titans tight end Anthony Firkser, who now plays for the Atlanta Falcons, will keep his football camp in Nashville.

It’s the second camp Firkser has hosted during his career. It’ll take place on June 5 at D1 Training Cool Springs and all proceeds will go to charity.

Firkser has enlisted the help of four current Titans, including wide receivers Mason Kinsey and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, tight end Tommy Hudson, and quarterback Logan Woodside.

This is a much different approach than the one former Titans and current Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown took after being traded.

Brown, who ended up moving his camp to his home town of Starkville, Mississippi, decided to not host his scheduled camp at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville.

Instead, Brown, who also managed to take a swipe at Titans fans, is working to get someone to replace him, which he hinted could be Derrick Henry.

A former undrafted free agent, Firkser spent four years in Tennessee before signing a one-year, $1.87 million deal with the Falcons earlier this offseason.

In Atlanta, Firkser joins his former quarterback, Marcus Mariota, who is projected to start, and former tight ends coach and offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, the Falcons’ head coach.

Falcons sign former Titans TE Anthony Firkser

Anthony Firkser is the latest former Titan to relocate to Atlanta.

Former Tennessee Titans tight end Anthony Firkser is officially no longer in Nashville after signing with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, the team announced on Tuesday.

Firsker will now reunite with Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, who coached him as the both a tight ends coach and offensive coordinator during his stint in Tennessee.

The Harvard product is the latest former Titan to relocate to Atlanta, joining quarterback Marcus Mariota, linebacker Rashaan Evans, and long snapper Beau Brinkley.

As a former undrafted free agent signing of Tennessee, Firkser did exceed what you’d expect out of a typical UDFA; however, his time with the Titans did end in disappointment.

After establishing himself as a solid weapon in Tennessee’s offense over his first three years in the NFL, it was thought Firkser would have a breakout year in 2021, but that did not come to fruition.

His blocking remained suspect at best, leading to his playing limited snaps, and he failed to make much of a dent in the passing game despite the Titans dealing with a slew of injuries to their receiving corps.

The writing was pretty much on the wall that Firkser would be done with the Titans after the season ended. Now, he’ll get a fresh start in Atlanta.

Falcons sign former Titans TE Anthony Firkser

In 58 career games with the Titans, Firsker had 106 catches for 1,107 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The Atlanta Falcons added some depth at tight end on Tuesday, signing former Tennessee Titan Anthony Firkser to a one-year deal.

Firkser, 27, played his college ball at Harvard before entering the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. In 2018, Firkser caught on in Tennessee where he spent the past four seasons as a reserve tight end.

Playing in 58 career games with the Titans, Firkser racked up 106 catches for 1,107 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Last season, Firkser had 34 catches for 291 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Atlanta drafted Kyle Pitts with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 draft, but lost tight end Hayden Hurst in free agency. Without much depth on the roster, Firkser, who has familiarity with both head coach Arthur Smith and quarterback Marcus Mariota, should slide into the team’s No. 2 tight end spot.

The Falcons also used a top-30 draft visit on UCLA tight end Greg Dulcich on Monday.

Titans’ top PFF grades and stats from Week 18 win over Texans

Anthony Firkser earned the Titans’ highest overall PFF grade in Week 18.

After the Tennessee Titans notched a huge win over the Houston Texans in Week 18 to secure the No. 1 seed and a first-round by, we’re taking a look at the team’s Pro Football Focus grades and stats from Sunday.

Taking the top spot in terms of overall grade on the entire team (minimum 10 snaps) is tight end Anthony Firkser, who scored an 87.8 after reeling in five catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.

The 56 yards were a season-high for Firsker, who has made some important catches in recent weeks after a mostly quiet 2021 campaign.

On defense, defensive lineman Denico Autry earned the top overall grade, notching a 78.2. Autry put together one hell of a regular season and has proven to be a crucial addition to the defense.

Now, let’s take a look at the top 10 overall Pro Football Focus grades for the Titans on both sides of the ball, as well as other key stats that give some insight into how the secondary and offensive line performed.

Fantasy start or sit Week 1: Ryan Tannehill, Anthony Firkser, Josh Reynolds

After finishing as QB7 in fantasy football in 2020, Ryan Tannehill is primed for yet another big season.

The Tennessee Titans will take the field for their first contest of 2021 against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 12, and quarterback Ryan Tannehill will look to continue what has been a productive run in Nashville the past two seasons.

In 2020, Tannehill finished as QB7, which might surprise you if you’ve bought into the hogwash narrative that he’s overrated and not that good.

In fact, Tannehill has been near-elite since taking over the Titans’ starting job in 2019 — and there’s reason to believe he’ll have his best season yet in 2021 (more on that shortly).

Two of the lesser-known fantasy options on Tennessee’s roster are tight end Anthony Firkser and wide receiver Josh Reynolds, both of whom could have decent or better fantasy value this coming season.

While we’re ready to roll out Tannehill on a weekly basis, we can’t say the same for Reynolds and Firkser at the moment. Here’s why that’s the case:
