Auburn in tight battle with USC for four-star safety Anquon Fegans

USC remains the favorite to sign the talented DB from Thompson High School, but Auburn is gaining ground quickly.

The Thompson Warriors have become the state of Alabama’s powerhouse by winning four of the last five Class 7A state championships. Safety [autotag]Anquon Fegans[/autotag] has been a major reason why.

Fegans, a four-star safety, has recorded 176 tackles in three seasons as a varsity player for the Warriors, with five tackles for loss and 18 interceptions. He is one of the most sought-after recruits for the 2025 cycle, and it is easy to see why Auburn is working to keep him within the state’s borders.

Auburn is trending upward in Fegans’ recruitment, and one recruiting expert is ready to throw in his prediction. Cole Pinkston of Auburn Live has logged an “expert pick” for Auburn to land Fegans, joining Jeffrey Lee in doing so.

Fegans visited Auburn last month, where he spent time with defensive backs coaches [autotag]Charles Kelly[/autotag] and [autotag]Wesley McGriff[/autotag]. Fegans also mentioned to On3 that defensive backs [autotag]Antonio Kite[/autotag] and former Thompson teammate [autotag]Kaleb Harris[/autotag] are joining Auburn’s coaches in his recruiting efforts.

USC remains the favorite to land Fegans with a 50.1% forecast from On3, but Auburn is next at 41.8%. Fegans is a four-star safety according to all four major recruiting outlets. By On3’s standards, Fegans is the nation’s No. 4 safety for the 2025 cycle and is the No. 3 overall recruit from the state of Alabama.

Four-star safety Anquon Fegans predicted to land at Auburn

Amidst the tight race for four-star safety Anquan Fegans, Auburn insider Jeffrey Lee has made an expert prediction for him landing at Auburn

[autotag]Anquon Fegans[/autotag] has easily made himself known as one of the best safeties in the nation in the 2025 class, and the race for college programs to land him is getting tighter by the day.

Playing for one of the top programs in the nation, Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, Fegans has national attention surrounding him every time he takes the field.

The four-star prospect is the No. 53 overall player and No. 4 safety in the nation according to the On3 industry ranking. He is also the No. 3 player in the state of Alabama. Jeffery Lee of On3 recently placed in an expert prediction for the Tigers to land the standout, marking the first prediction to the Plains. On3’s recruiting prediction machine currently gives Auburn the second-best chance to land Fegans.

The Tigers’ 2025 class is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation, but they are looking to land some big targets to improve their stock. Fegans would certainly help that cause. Auburn is currently in a tight race with USC to land the Thompson product, but Georgia, Alabama and LSU are also in the midst of this tight race.

Fegans would be the first safety in the Tigers’ 2025 class but would join Buford High School (Ga.) cornerback [autotag]Devin Williams[/autotag] in the secondary group.

Alabama a finalist to land 2025 safety Anquon Fegans

2025 safety Anquon Fegans narrowed his list of finalists down to 12 schools. Alabama made the cut among other programs.

Alabama has already had one player on their roster with the last name Fegans. Now, Alabama is pushing to have another one. 2025 safety Anquon Fegans narrowed his list of finalists down to 12 schools. One of the programs that was listed was Alabama.

In the past, Alabama signed Anquon’s brother, Tre’Quon. He was a member of Alabama’s 2022 recruiting class. During the offseason, he elected to transfer to USC. Interestingly enough, that is where Anquon was committed for several months. However, he backed off of his commitment and is now re-exploring his options.

Fegans transferred to Thompson High School from Oxford High School several years ago. He has been an important member of Thompson’s defense over the last few seasons. Fegans mans the secondary alongside 2024 safety and Auburn commit Kaleb Harris.

Fegans has been relatively high on the Crimson Tide despite his brother’s decision to transfer. He made a trip to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama-Texas game.

It will be interesting to see which schools he decides to visit in the future. Alabama will be a program that is in the mix to land his commitment until the end, however.

With only one 2025 commit thus far, Fisher and his staff have a ton of work ahead of them to continue creating relationships ahead of next summer, as future visits will begin to take shape.

Vols’ 2025 target Anquon Fegans decommits from USC

Tennessee four-star target Anquon Fegans decommits from USC.

Four-star safety Anquon Fegans decommitted from USC on Thursday.

Fegans announced his commitment to the Trojans on May 7.

The 6-foot, 190-pound safety is from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama.

Fegans is the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the class of 2025. He ranks as the No. 1 safety and No. 4 player in Alabama, according to On3 industry rankings.

Fegans finished his sophomore season with 67 tackles, 11 pass breakups, nine interceptions and two forced fumbles. He earned first-team MaxPreps Sophomore All-American honors.

Fegans also earned Freshman All-American honors and was named a Preseason Junior All-American during the offseason.

The 2025 prospect unofficially visited Tennessee on April 1.

4-star USC decommit announces offer from Clemson

A 4-star safety in the 2025 class has announced an offer from Clemson.

There hasn’t been much news out of the 2025 recruiting class for Clemson of late until Thursday.

4-star safety Anquon Fegans recently decommitted from Southern Cal., and announced via Twitter/X that he has received an offer from Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. Clemson is making a move for a player who is from the same school as highly touted freshman defensive lineman Peter Woods.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, the Alabaster (Ala.) native is the No.3 safety nationally and the No.31 overall prospect in his class. Their site rankings have him higher, at No.22 overall and the No.2 safety.

Florida football offers this top 2025 safety committed to USC

The Gators are trying to pry this top safety from a west coast foe.

Billy Napier and the Florida football staff have been handing out scholarship offers like Oprah gives out hams of late as the program keeps an eye on the recruiting front while preparing for the coming season.

Among those bestowed with an offer from the Orange and Blue is four-star safety [autotag]Anquon Fegans[/autotag] out of Alabaster (Alabama) Thompson in the 2025 cycle. The 6-foot-1-inch, 180-pound defensive back is currently a hard commit to the USC Trojans, giving them his word back on May 7, but appears to still be open to offers.

Other schools that have been in play for the blue-chip defender are the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies and Tennessee Volunteers, among others.

Here is the full scouting report on Fegans from 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins.

A good-looking safety prospect that already has some valuable experience under his belt having gotten varsity snaps as a freshman for Alabama’s 7A state champs. Well-put together at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, but nowhere close to being maxed out, and could eventually push 200 pounds or more once lifting college.

Has been utilized mainly as a deep safety early on in the prep career, but has also doubled as a nickel defender in certain situations. Tends to hold his own in man-to-man coverage and has shown that he can jump routes during offseason 7-on-7 play. Rather serviceable as an open-field tackler and seems to understand that the lower man often wins more times than not.

Competitive on special teams and should offer value in both kick and punt coverage at the college of his choice. Must keep learning and evolving as a player, but the ability to quickly read and diagnose and then put himself in position to make a play is very promising. Could eventually move closer to the line of scrimmage depending on how his body fills out, but has most of the skills required to emerge as a multi-year contributor in the back seven at a top 25 program.

Fegans is ranked No. 31 overall and No. 3 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 30 and 2, respectively.

Anquon Fegans, No. 1 safety and top-10 2025 prospect, commits to USC

Landing the No. 1-ranked safety in the Class of 2025 is a pretty big splash for #USC and Donte Williams.

USC made another splash on the recruiting trail over the weekend, landing safety Anquon Fegans. The Trojans gained significant help for their secondary when they settle into the Big Ten Conference.

Anquon Fegans is ranked as the No. 1 safety in the class of 2025 and the No. 10 overall prospect by 247Sports. He chose USC from a list of offers that included some of the nation’s top programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Penn State and Texas A&M.

A native of Alabaster, Alabama, Fegans is the younger brother of former Alabama defensive back Trequon Fagans, who also committed to USC on Sunday as a transfer. The elder Fagans redshirted for the Crimson Tide this past season after ranking as a four-star prospect in the Class of 2022.

Anquon Fegans finished his sophomore season with 67 tackles, an eye-popping 9 interceptions, 11 passes defensed, and a pair of forced fumbles.

Feagans is the best safety to commit to USC in the history of the program and has a ton of talent. Feagans could go down as the best to ever do it at the safety position for the Trojans, yes he’s that good! We’re going to have to wait until 2025 to see the sophomore on the college football field, though.
