Recruiting Story

As if from seemingly out of nowhere in the early summer, Michigan started to connect with the four-star receiver. In a big win for Ron Bellamy, Marsh ended up choosing the Wolverines on his departed father’s birthday, and then became a vocal recruiter for the maize and blue.

INTERVIEW: Elite 2025 WR Andrew Marsh breaks down Michigan football official visit

Marsh is the highest-rated wide receiver to sign with Michigan since Donovan Peoples-Jones in 2017.

Readiness Level

Though freshman receivers tend to take a year before they become factors, with Michigan’s need along with Marsh’s talent, he could be a starter or a high-impact reserve in his first year.

Notes

  • Committed Aug. 20, 2024
  • Also runs track with a 50.50 400-meter dash time.

Scouting report

The scouting report according to On3:

Strong-handed receiver with high-end ball skills. Measured in at 6-foot-0.5, 175 pounds prior to his senior season. Lines up all over the formation for his high school, working both outside and in the slot. A natural plucker, consistently catching the ball away from his frame. Has very large hands and plays with strength at the catch point. Makes one-handed snags with ease. Shows the ability to time his jumps and come down with high-point grabs in traffic. Registers as a good athlete, particularly in the jumps. Posted a 6-2 foot high jump as a sophomore. Will need to continue improving his burst, top end speed and route-running.

Michigan football putting on an even bigger full-court press on Bryce Underwood

They’re really working it! #GoBlue

Michigan football fans might not want to be hurt again, but that doesn’t mean the program isn’t putting on the full-court press to lure the nation’s top prospect to Ann Arbor.

Not only did Michigan general manager Sean Magee show up to the MHSAA playoff game between Howell and Belleville on Friday, but it appears a certain Wolverines commit made it, too. Now, why is that important? Because the quarterback from Belleville is five-star Bryce Underwood and the maize and blue are in full pursuit working to flip his commitment from LSU.

Per The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb, not only did Magee make it to Underwood’s game, so did four-star Michigan wide receiver commit Andrew Marsh.

Of course, it’s going to take more than simply showing up to his games and giving him a max name, image and likeness licensing deal to pry Underwood from LSU. But the Michigan contingent certainly isn’t going to let him go to Baton Rouge without a fight, and this is at least progress.

USC loses to Michigan in battle for top receiver

USC will hope to beat Michigan on the field in September after losing a recruitment in August.

USC football lost a recruiting battle for 2025 Fulshear (Texas) native Andrew Marsh from Katy Jordan High School. Michigan won this particular recruitment.

The four-star wide receiver’s final list included Colorado, USC, Michigan, Texas and Washington.

Last year in his junior season he totaled 65 receptions, 1,158 yards, 17.8 yards per catch, and 15 touchdowns.

Marsh is the nation’s No. 62 overall prospect, No. 11 wide receiver and No. 13 recruit from the state of Texas in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking

Marsh said this on his visit to USC: “Great visit, coaches and atmosphere. To top it off, I got a chance to experience it with my family. I like the whole vibe my family and I got hanging out with the coaches and their families. My mom and sisters said they we very welcoming to them plus my nieces had fun with their kids.”

Michigan was trending to land Marsh’s commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). That prediction proved to be accurate. Wolverines Wire has more on this story.

Where Michigan football ranks after Andrew Marsh committed

Moving on up! #GoBlue

Michigan football just got its highest-rated wide receiver commit since the 2017 recruiting cycle with four-star Andrew Marsh pledging to the Wolverines. As the 17th commit in the 2025 class, long gone are the days where rival fans are able to point to the maize and blue’s recruiting ranking as being way behind the pack.

With the addition of Marsh, Michigan once again has two wide receiver commits (the Wolverines lost three-star Phillip Wright, who flipped to LSU) in the 2025 class as he joins Louisiana four-star Jacob Washington — another four-star.

Here is where Michigan now ranks with 17 commitments in 2025.

Looking specifically at 247Sports, the Wolverines moved up three spots from No. 15 to No. 12. With a 92.01 player average ranking, the maize and blue are No. 9 in the country behind teams like Oregon (1), Alabama (2), Ohio State (3), Clemson (4), Florida State (5), Georgia (6), LSU (7), and Auburn (8), but is also ahead of Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Miami, USC, Oklahoma, and Penn State.

Michigan still is looking to add to the class, with the big fish being five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola and four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng. The Wolverines had been looking to add another receiver in four-star Jerome Myles, but he recently eliminated the maize and blue from his top contenders and Utah looks to be his favorite.

This is HUGE! #GoBlue

Wide receiver recruiting for Michigan football might be its biggest weakness over the years, at least compared to other position groups.

Though there have been some good receivers to come through the program — such a five-star Donovan Peoples-Jones and four-stars Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, Nico Collins, and others — getting elite pass catchers to Ann Arbor has been a bit more of a challenge than that of defensive players, offensive linemen, running backs, and quarterbacks.

So it was something of a surprise when perceived favorite Oklahoma saw 2025 Fulshear (Tx.) Katy Jordan four-star wideout Andrew Marsh cancel his official visit in favor of going to Michigan for the final recruiting weekend in June.

Eventually, Marsh narrowed his list and Washington made a late run, but the maize and blue did enough as he committed to Michigan football to close out his recruitment.

Marsh was also considering Kentucky, Texas, USC, and Washington and had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

He is listed at 6-foot-1, 173 pounds and also is an avid track runner.

Longhorns recruiting target WR Andrew Marsh sets commitment date

One of the top recruits in the 2025 class, wide receiver Andrew Marsh, has set his commitment date for August 20th

One of the top recruits in the 2025 class, wide receiver Andrew Marsh, has set his commitment date for August 20th. His list has been trimmed down to Michigan, USC, Colorado, Washington, and Texas.

As Texas looks to improve its 2025 class, Marsh would be a welcome addition. He is a four-star recruit and ranked as the 13th best prospect in Texas. The Katy Jordan High School product would be joining a 2025 class that includes Kaliq Lockett. On Aug. 7, Lockett committed to Texas over Florida State and Alabama.

During his high school career, Marsh has been a human highlight reel. As a sophomore, he caught 53 passes for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. A year later, he made history in the playoffs against Morton Ranch when he caught eight passes for 240 yards and five touchdowns. Scouts nationwide see Marsh as a player who could make an impact in any offense.

Over the next 11 days, Marsh will be a player to watch. He has shown that he can thrive under pressure, which will be critical at the next level. As the Longhorns look to build one of the top offenses in the country, Marsh would be a key addition.

The Longhorns are also targeting five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, who is scheduled to announce on Aug. 30. A wide receiver group of Lockett, Marsh, and French would be a hard trio to stop.

Michigan football gets a prediction for an elite 2025 WR

The trend is towards the good guys here. #GoBlue

Michigan football’s 2025 class is starting to fill out nicely, with June being kind to the Wolverines and July off to a mixed-bag start, with some high-end targets going elsewhere before the maize and blue brought in two top 100 prospects within an hour of each other last week.

It may be some time before Michigan adds to the list (outside of the predicted pledge of Destrehan (La.) three-star receiver Phillip Wright III) with much of the rest of the board looking to commit in August or beyond.

One of the Wolverines’ top prospects left on the board is 2025 Fulshear (Tx.) Katy Jordan four-star wide receiver Andrew Marsh. Marsh wasn’t expected in the class but things turned around when he canceled his Oklahoma official visit and came to Ann Arbor instead on June 21.

Already with one 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction in from Sam Webb, Brice Marich joined him this week.

Marsh also has three predictions courtesy of On3. Here’s how he ranks according to the recruiting services:

Michigan football trending for elite 2025 four-star WR

This is huge news. #GoBlue

It’s been a long time since Michigan football has had a truly elite receiver come to the program straight out of high school. The Wolverines have had luck in terms of developing elite receivers, but when it’s come to the upper echelon of pass catchers, recruits have usually chosen other schools.

That may be changing in a hurry.

2025 Fulshear (Tx.) Katy Jordan four-star wideout Andrew Marsh was among the visitors to Ann Arbor this past week and Michigan football made a big move for him. So big that he’s since gotten three predictions that he’ll be a Wolverine from On3 (Steve Wiltfong, EJ Holland, and Josh McCuistion).

The scouting report from On3:

Strong-handed receiver with high-end ball skills. Measured in at 6-foot-0.5, 175 pounds prior to his senior season. Lines up all over the formation for his high school, working both outside and in the slot. A natural plucker, consistently catching the ball away from his frame. Marsh told WolverinesWire that he intends to make his commitment either in August or on Veterans Day, in honor of his father, a military veteran who passed away.

Rivals is the highest on Marsh having him at No. 41 overall, regardless of position. He’s rated at No. 48 overall on the 247Sports Composite and the seventh-best receiver nationally.

Elite 2025 WR Andrew Marsh breaks down Michigan football official visit

#Michigan hasn’t had a WR recruit as highly rated as he is since DPJ. #GoBlue

The last time Michigan football got a top-flight wide receiver in the top 50 of any recruiting ranking, it was all the way back in 2017 when the Wolverines got five-star Donovan Peoples-Jones and top 50 prospect Oliver Martin. So while the maize and blue’s credo under new head coach Sherrone Moore might be ‘SMASH!’ they’re certainly due to get some high-end talent at that position.

Michigan has had success at wideout, even if the recruiting rankings haven’t been on their side. Ronnie Bell, Roman Wilson, and Cornelius Johnson have all been stars in the past few seasons, and all three ended up in the NFL as a result. But the Wolverines are hoping to find more talent that can help take the top off a defense.

Enter Andrew Marsh, the 2025 Fulshear (Tx.) Katy Jordan four-star receiver, currently rated at No. 48 overall by the 247Sports Composite. Expected to visit presumed favorite Oklahoma this weekend, Marsh shifted gears and ended up in Ann Arbor for an official visit.

Much like fellow visitor, linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, the biggest takeaway for Marsh was ‘the people’ he encountered while on campus. The staff really made him feel at home and were the highlight of his last-minute jaunt to the University of Michigan.

“I’ve been up there a bunch, but I would really say what I liked was probably the attention to detail and really just the people there — like it’s always the people, really.” Marsh told WolverinesWire. “They’re really personable, they’re just easy to talk to. They just really feel personable, someone that you can trust. I was out golfing with Coach Campbell the other day. So I would just say really just the fact that you can trust them.”

Michigan has made it known that he’s highly coveted in that wide receiver room. There are other options that the Wolverines are looking at — from Taz Williams Jr. to Jacob Washington — but Marsh left Ann Arbor feeling like he was the top priority for the staff.

“I guess I just took away that I am a priority for them, you could say. Just someone that they’re looking for.”

One of the biggest things that Marsh is looking for at the next level is early playing time. At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, he has the ability to play inside or outside in the new-look Michigan defense, and the staff pitched him on utilizing his versatility at the next level — along with getting on the field as soon as he’s ready.

But he’s aware, while he does want to get early playing time, everything at Michigan is earned, not given. And that’s something he’s also looking for.

“They say they see me fitting in perfectly,” Marsh said. “They say that regardless I would have to come work. But they say that I could definitely get in there early, probably get on the field early, start playing.

“(They could see me) starting outside, (playing) in the slot and stuff like that.”

There’s still some time before Marsh makes his final decision. He intends to either commit to his school of choice in August or on Veteran’s Day in November. While he hasn’t decided which as of yet, he’s eyeing the latter as a tribute to his veteran father, who passed away when he was young.

Ultimately, Michigan has checked all of the boxes he’s looking for in his school of choice. The fact that the staff is so personable and relatable goes a long way towards fulfilling the items on his checklist. But other things such as education and growing into his role as a man also play a big factor.

“I would say, for me, is like the ability to play. I really want to play early and believe that I have a fair shot at that,” Marsh said. “I want to be taken care of, and really just know I’m good, that I can trust the people there. So you can say the people. And then getting the education, getting a good education, really. Just furthering myself in that aspect — really, really learning what to do with everything.”

Marsh has two predictions on On3 (EJ Holland and Steve Wiltfong) indicating he’ll choose Michigan once he does make a decision. He does not as of yet have any predictions on 247Sports.
