The 2011 season for LSU was a memorable one. The blowout win over the Florida Gators showed the country that the Tigers were a true national championship contender.

LSU entered the game ranked No. 1 with a 5-0 record, while the Gators were No. 21 and held a 4-1 record entering Baton Rouge.

Tigers running back Spencer Ware torched the Gators defense for 109 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, quarterback Jarrett Lee went 7-of-10 for 154 yards and one touchdown.

For the Gators, quarterback Jacoby Brissett finished 8-of-14 passing for 94 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Florida accounted for 213 total yards of offense in the 41-11 loss.

LSU totaled 453 yards on offense and the defense was equally productive, forcing two turnovers.

The Tigers opened the game with a quick score as Lee completed a 46-yard pass to wide receiver Rueben Randle to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead. Ware scored on a two yard touchdown run with 6:40 left in the first quarter to put LSU up 14-0.

In the second quarter, LSU went up 17-0 on a 35-yard field goal by kicker Drew Alleman. With 6:50 left before the half, Ware ran an eight yard rush for another touchdown as the Tigers took a 24-0 lead.

Florida would add their first points of the game just before halftime as Caleb Sturgis sent a 34-yard field goal through the uprights with eight seconds left in the quarter.

6 running backs the Seattle Seahawks could sign for Week 17

The Seattle Seahawks are already flying Marshawn Lynch in for a visit. Here are six other options they could look to sign as replacements.

Things went from bad to worse for the Seattle Seahawks after Sunday’s backbreaking 27-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, when it was announced postgame that both Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (broken arm) are expected to miss the rest of the season.

With Rashaad Penny (ACL) already on the shelf, the Seahawks are down to just one healthy running back, rookie Travis Homer, on the active roster.

The team does have Xavier Turner, who played quite a bit with Seattle during the preseason, on the practice squad, but it’s pretty clear this team will need to find some veteran help on the free-agent market to help get them through their crucial Week 17 matchup with the 49ers, as well as their playoff games.

“We have to get to scrambling, Johnny’s [Schneider] got to get to work and figure out what we’re doing next,” coach Pete Carroll said immediately after the game. “That’s a lot of game for Homer to have to play by himself. So, obviously, we will make some moves here, and figure some stuff out.”

The Seahawks are flying former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch into town on Monday to visit. If he is healthy, both sides are interested in a reunion and an agreement could come together in short order.

However, Lynch may not be the only signing the team makes (if they sign him at all) and there are still plenty of other options the team could bring in alongside, or instead of, Beast Mode.

Here are six veteran free agent running backs, not including Lynch, who I believe will hear from Pete Carroll and/or John Schneider this week – and my opinion on why they would or wouldn’t be a good fit to sign with the team.

Will the Seattle Seahawks pursue a reunion with Robert Turbin?

The Seattle Seahawks, who have an open roster spot, reportedly hosted running backs Robert Turbin and Alfred Blue for workouts on Tuesday.

The Seattle Seahawks have an open spot on the 53-man roster following Josh Gordon’s indefinite suspension, and while they haven’t filled it just yet – they did bring in a pair of potential options on Tuesday.

Veteran running backs Robert Turbin and Alfred Blue were both reported to be at Seattle’s practice facility on Tuesday for a team workout, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

The Seahawks are likely looking for a veteran back to help ease the loss of Rashaad Penny. The team is currently relying on C.J. Prosise and rookie Travis Homer to fill that role. Prosise did not record a carry after a bad fumble (that ended up getting overturned) late in the first half against Carolina, and Homer only has three career carries.

Turbin would certainly have the advantage of coming in and knowing the playbook, having been with the Seahawks from 2012-2014, serving primarily as the team’s change-of-pace back behind Marshawn Lynch.

He was part of Seattle’s excellent 2012 draft class, coming to Seattle along with Bobby Wagner from Utah State.

He’s rushed for 1,354 yards and nine touchdowns in 81 career games, with his last action coming in 2018 with the Colts, appearing in two games.

Blue spent five years with the Texans from 2014-2018, recording 2,407 yards and eight touchdowns along with 69 receptions for 470 yards and two touchdowns out of the backfield.
