Alabama fans come together to help former softball player

Earlier this week, former Alabama softball player Lauren Sewell lost everything in a house fire in Northport, Alabama.

Earlier this week, former Alabama softball player Lauren Sewell lost everything in a house fire in Northport, Alabama.

Sewell was a pitcher for the Crimson Tide from 2010-13, and was a part of the 2012 national championship team.

Thankfully, Sewell wasn’t home, and her five animals survived. But unfortunately, she lost everything else.

Sewell’s former softball teammate, Jordan Patterson, created a GoFundMe that has already raised over $7,000 to help with the rebuilding process.

It’s an amazing start, and Alabama fans and other former teammates to Sewell should be proud to come to her aid during this difficult time. They have shown that softball is more than just a game; it means you’re a part of a family, forever.

College softball season is right around the corner and the Alabama Crimson Tide will open up the season as the No. 1 ranked team in the country.

Coach Patrick Murphy will look to take ‘Team 24’ back to to the Women’s College World Series and win it all this time.

His team is full of returning talent from the 2019 season, the only major loss for the team was catcher Reagan Dykes.

The team is set to be an all-around powerhouse on offense, defense and in the circle.

Three members of the 2020 team have received special recognition, however.

Senior power hitter and infield specialist, Bailey Hemphil; Senior speedster and outfielder, Elissa Brown and the Sophormore ace in the circle, Montana Fouts, were all selected to the preseason All-SEC softball team.

Having three players on the team makes Alabama the most represented team in the SEC. Arkansas, LSU and Tennessee each have two players each on the team.

After an impressive season in 2019, they’ll look to build off of what they started.

Their season begins on Feb. 7 as the Crimson Tide will take on UNC and Florida State in a double-header.
