The 2024 AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway will forever live in NASCAR history. On Sunday night, Kyle Larson beat Chris Buescher by 0.001 seconds in the closest NASCAR Cup Series finish ever. This came after great racing throughout the evening and into the night. In fact, the racing and finish has broken a record in a weekly poll on X.
The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck puts out a poll every week asking if the latest Cup Series event was a good race. For the 2024 AdventHealth 400, it has broken a record. The Cup Series event at Kansas is the new No. 1 race in poll history out of 312 races polled in the last eight-plus years. Kansas beat Bristol Motor Speedway’s playoff race in 2021 by 0.1%, which is ironic considering the new closest finish record.
Was Kansas a good race? Well, for the first time since 2021……….
🚨 It's A NEW. POLL. RECORRRRRRRRRD 🚨
Kansas got 95.8% Yes, making it the No. 1 race in poll history (312 races polled over eight-plus years).
An ultra-close finish (go figure) over 2021 Bristol (95.7%).

It has only been a few days since NASCAR’s record-breaking night, but people will reflect on the 2024 AdventHealth 400 and what they witnessed. Ricky Craven held the record for the closest Cup Series victory for 21 years, but Larson has taken the honor. The AdventHealth 400 is now the closest Cup Series finish ever and the best race in a poll that ranges over the last eight-plus seasons.
