Alabama Football: 5 names to watch for the remainder of fall camp

5 players Alabama football fans should watch for the remainder of fall camp!

In less than four weeks, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team will take the field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium to take on Middle Tennessee State to begin its 2023 season. Now that fall camp is underway, we are starting to get a better sense of what this version of the Crimson Tide might look like.

With Alabama still in the early stages of fall camp, I thought it would be a good time to take a look at a handful of players who are making some noise and should be closely watched for the remainder of fall practice.

Let’s roll through the list!

LOOK: Pete Rose spends time with the Alabama football team

Pete Rose visits with the Alabama football team during fall camp!

Fall camp 2023 is in full swing for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football. The Tide is nearly a week into its practice activities and that means it is time for Coach Saban to bring in famous guest speakers to talk to his team.

On Tuesday night, legendary baseball player Pete Rose spoke to the team in Tuscaloosa following its fifth practice of the fall.

Rose, 82 is arguably one of the greatest baseball players of all time and was known for his incredible hustle on the diamond. His play earned him the nickname “Charlie Hustle”.

Alabama shared a few pictures from Rose’s visit with the team on social media!

‘Relentless effort’ is the focus for Kevin Steele and the Alabama defense

Kevin Steele has the Alabama defense focusing on the little things in fall camp!

On Sunday, Alabama held its annual Media Day from the Mal Moore Athletic Facility where head coach Nick Saban, offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele each took turns in speaking to members of the media.

Coach Steele is a veteran coach in college football who is one of the most well-respected defensive coordinators in the country. Steele’s experience with Coach Saban and Alabama has made his move back to Tuscaloosa seamless.

In his opening remarks to the media on Sunday, Steele laid out the focus that he was trying to hammer home to the defensive players this fall.

“We’re focusing very hard on relentless effort, physical and mental toughness, do your job mentality, and they’re very coachable to that, which is positive.”

Under the leadership of Pete Golding, who is now the DC at Ole Miss, the Crimson Tide defense seemed to lose some of its mental and physical toughness. That is by no means a shot a Golding, he simply had a different style of coaching.

Steele is more of a throwback coordinator who demands effort and toughness more than the execution of X’s and O’s. Steele understands that if players get the effort part right, the execution of the scheme will come a lot easier.

Having Steele back in Tuscaloosa to lead the Alabama defense should have Tide fans excited about the possibility of the return of elite defensive play for the Crimson Tide.

‘Creating good habits’ is Alabama football’s No. 1 purpose during fall practice

Nick Saban details the No. 1 purpose of fall camp for the Alabama football team!

On Sunday, Alabama held its annual Media Day from the Mal Moore Athletic Facility where head coach Nick Saban, offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele each took turns in speaking to members of the media.

In Coach Saban’s opening statement, he went into a deep dialogue about the importance of creating the right kind of habits leading up to the football season.

“Obviously, the No. 1 purpose of fall camp practice is to create good habits. Obviously, bad habits have a cost. Good habits have a price, but you’ve got to pay the price for these good habits up front, which is obviously what you do when fall camp comes along. This is a time when you have to sort of embrace the grind.”

Despite having question marks at certain position groups, the most important task this team can accomplish during fall camp is creating the right kind of habits that will lead to success.

Saban would go on to say just because a player is talented, doesn’t mean that will always equate to success on the field. It takes much more.

“We’ve got some players who have been blessed with talent, but it only comes to fruition if you can embrace the grind and can’t view the circumstances not as an obstacle but an opportunity to focus in difficult circumstances and difficult situations so that this will be an advantage to you to be able to sustain, you know, in the future.”

Saban has always been a master of the physiological aspect of the game and that is part of what has made him so successful as a college head coach. Understanding that talent alone will not win you championships but taking care of the little things along the way also plays a pivotal role in one’s success.

Five questions Alabama football fans want answers to in fall camp!

On Thursday, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team will begin their quest for another national championship as fall camp will open up from Tuscaloosa.

With a new season on the horizon, the anticipation is building for what is in some way a statement season for the Crimson Tide. Also with a new season comes new questions that must be answered, which is certainly the case as Alabama enters fall camp.

As pads begin to pop and sweat starts to bead from the brow of the Alabama football players, here are five questions that Alabama fans want answers to during fall camp 2023.

Projecting Alabama football’s starting offense entering fall camp 2023

Projecting Alabama football’s starting offense entering fall camp!

August has arrived and that means the start of the college football season is just around the corner. It also means that [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team will begin fall camp in just a few days.

With fall camp just around the corner, now is a good time to preview and project what the starting lineup could look like when they begin practice. Keep in mind, this is just a projection entering fall camp and it could look a lot different come Sept. 2 when the Crimson Tide take on Middle Tennessee State to start the season.

We will get things started on the offensive side of the ball where there are plenty of areas in question entering fall camp!

Alabama Morning Drive: News and notes from day 1 of fall camp

The top news and notes from day one of fall camp 2022.

Good morning, Tide fans! We have finally made it to Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week as we begin to dive into the weekend.

On Thursday, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team hit the practice field to begin their work on the 2022 college football season.

Yesterday we reported the unfortunate news that star Tide tight end [autotag]Cameron Latu[/autotag] would be missing some time during fall camp with an undisclosed injury. Now, it will be up to the likes of Robbie Ouzts, Amari Niblack, Elijah Brown, Danny Lewis, and Miles Kitselman to pick up the slack in Latu’s absence.

Like coach Saban mentioned in his press conference Thursday, the young guys in the tight end room now have a great opportunity ahead of them to maybe develop a role for themself on this team.

Let’s take a look at a few other notes from Thursday’s practice.

Nick Saban’s thoughts on the second scrimmage of fall camp

Nick Saban’s thoughts after the second scrimmage of fall camp

Alabama held their second scrimmage of fall camp yesterday and afterward head coach Nick Saban addressed the media.

Here are some of coach Saban’s thoughts:

  • Saban saw a significant amount of improvement from the previous week’s scrimmage.
  • Kendall Randolph, DeMarcco Hellams, and a few others were held out of the scrimmage due to injuries.
  • Saban mentioned that one of the biggest issues with the younger players is dealing with anxiety. The coaching staff tries to convince them to play their game instead of worrying about the outside noise.
  • On the quarterbacks, Saban said they were able to get all three guys (Young, Tyson, and Milroe) reps in the scrimmage to help continue their development. Saban mentioned that the offense has been pretty balanced throughout fall camp.
  • Coach Saban continues to give high praise to Ohio State wide receiver transfer Jameson Williams.
  • Regarding the offensive line, Saban said, “we’ve got work to do”. He also noted that there is competition at right tackle and at center.
  • Of Will Anderson, Saban said, “Will is probably the guy that creates the most havoc for our defense in terms of his ability to pass rush”.
  • When asked about Jahleel Billingsley status on the depth chart, Saban said that it was really up to Jahleel. Saban said, “this is not a democracy, everybody doesn’t get to do what they want to do”. Billingsley’s status will be something to watch over the next couple of weeks.
  • Coach Saban spoke highly of Jordan Battle’s leadership in the backend of the defense.

Alabama football: Cameron Latu continues to shine

Cameron Latu continues to shine for Alabama

The biggest storyline out of spring practice was the development of redshirt junior TE Cameron Latu.

In the spring Latu was able to grab a touchdown catch in each of the scrimmages including the annual A-Day game on April 17.

Latu continued his touchdown streak in the first scrimmage of the fall this past Saturday. In a video released by the Alabama Football Twitter account, you can see Latu catching a touchdown pass from Bryce Young.

Latu came to Alabama as a four-star defensive end according to 247 Composite Rankings. He made the transition to TE after his freshman season and has seen some action in goal-line situations over the last couple of seasons. It now looks like Latu has developed into a legitimate receiving threat to pair with the talented Jahleel Billingsley.

Alabama now has two TE’s that can make plays in the passing game, which is always nice when you are breaking in a new QB.
