After an impressive win on opening day for the Crimson Tide, Alabama defeated Northeastern 8-0 on Saturday to sweep the series on opening weekend.

Alabama’s offense rallied for 8 runs on 12 hits. Both Tyler Gentry and Sam Praytor led the team offensively by both recording 3 hits. Gentry, a junior, finished 3-for-4 with a team-high tying two RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Connor Shamblin got the win while pitching 5 innings and only allowing 3 hits while striking out 5 and walking one.

Alabama head baseball coach Brad Bohannon had this to say after the game:

“There was really good effort today. Connor (Shamblin) had a great outing, got us off to a great start. I’m really proud of the way he managed the first inning and settled in. He did a great job of throwing all of his pitches for a strike. Then, Casey Cobb, Garret Rukes and Brock Guffey all came in after him and were just outstanding. It was also another day where we had some production through the lineup. We were a little inefficient offensively, made a couple of mistakes on the bases, but overall, for game two, I’m really pleased.”
