An updated look at Texas’ WR depth after the addition of Agiye Hall

Texas has completely turned around the completion of the wide receiver room this offseason.

Steve Sarkisian has to be happy with the offseason additions Texas has made over the past few months.

Texas struck again in the transfer portal this week with the commitment of the uber-talented Alabama wide receiver transfer Agiye Hall.

The former four-star from the class of 2021 did not see much playing time in his freshman season in Tuscaloosa as he sat behind Jamison Williams and John Metchie, along with dealing with some off-the-field issues.

Hall is joining a Texas wide receiver room with huge upside in 2022.

Xavier Worthy will lead the group after his freshman All-American campaign in 2021. Worthy hauled in 63 passes for 981 yards and 12 touchdowns without much help from his supporting cast down the stretch of the season.

Jordan Whittington started the 2021 year on fire before an injury cost him much of the second half of the season. The sky is the limit for Whittington if he can just stay healthy.

Landing Isaiah Neyor from Wyoming was another big-time pull from the transfer portal. Neyor is already looking the part in spring practice.

Here is a look at how much depth Texas now has at wide receiver after Hall’s commitment.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian did his homework on Agiye Hall

Hall had multiple instances of being in the dog house while playing under Nick Saban.

On Tuesday, the offseason got even better for Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Texas was able to add former five-star wide receiver Agiye Hall to their collection of transfer portal trophies alongside Quinn Ewers, Ryan Watts, Isaiah Neyor, and Jahleel Billingsley.

And Sark may not be done, as edge rusher Ochuan Mathis is still available and taking an official visit to Texas this Saturday, and linebacker Caleb Johnson remains on an official visit to Texas as of this moment.

However, there is a word of caution to the Hall story as 247’s Josh Pate points out in this video.

What homework is Pate referring to? Simply put, Hall had multiple instances of being in the dog house while playing under Nick Saban, enough so that he was dismissed from the team without even knowing about it. So, he is not risk-free.

Having said that, Sark just ran off multiple players from the Texas roster and is likely to run off more. He spent multiple days with Hall and his family, explaining what the expectations would be. He would not bring in a player he did not have faith (which is trust or confidence in what you have good reason to believe is true) would fit his locker room.

Whatever other concerns you may have about Sark, he clearly did his homework here.

Each player Texas football has landed via the transfer portal this offseason

This offseason will be one to remember for Texas fans. Is it Sept. 3 yet?

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian wasn’t kidding when he stated his goal to revamp the roster this offseason. Continue reading “Each player Texas football has landed via the transfer portal this offseason”

Agiye Hall makes the No. 8 former Alabama player/staff to join Texas

A look at each of the eight members from the Alabama Crimson Tide football program to join Texas in the last two years.

The biggest nonconference game in the Big 12 ahead of conference play has to be the Texas Longhorns matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide. On Sept. 10, this will be the hottest ticket in town.

For the Longhorns faithful this is the first matchup since the 2010 BCS National Championship game. One of the biggest ‘what ifs’ in recent memory for Texas.

The game is monumental for a variety of other reasons as well. Texas will be joining the SEC in near future, which means a matchup of this magnitude will become common.

Texas recently added wide receiver transfer [autotag]Agiye Hall[/autotag] to the team for the 2022 season. He became the No. 8 former Alabama Crimson Tide member to join the Longhorns. This gives them yet another reason to tune in as the defending SEC Champs roll into Austin this upcoming season.

We break down each of the eight former Alabama players and staff to call Texas home this season.

Texas receives two crystal ball predictions for Alabama transfer WR Agiye Hall

Texas is in strong position to add another elite WR.

Last season the wide receiver room was a major area of concern for the Longhorns, as freshman Xavier Worthy was the only consistent playmaker they had.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff made it a major point of emphasis to bring in some talent at the position, and did just that when they landed Isaiah Neyor who has been raved about during spring practices.

It seemed as if the wide receiver room had already improved as much as possible, besides waiting for the two pass catchers that Texas signed in the 2022 class in speedster in Brenen Thompson and gadget player Savion Red.

However, after what seemed to be a very rocky tenure at Alabama, former four-star wide receiver Agiye Hall entered his name into the transfer portal and is now considering Texas. He is someone who has previous relations with the Texas staff, as he was recruited to play in Sarkisian’s system at Alabama and his primary recruiter was Jeff Banks.

Hall was one of the many notable visitors in Austin over the Easter weekend. The visit seemed to have gone swimmingly for the Longhorns, as Hall’s father Vincent Hall recently expressed how he’d fit with the program to 247Sports.

On the field I think he’d fit in well. A lot of the players they all have the same personalities, outgoing just being teenagers enjoying themselves and being able to experience things outside of football. That’s something he definitely enjoyed, being there with the players.

247Sports’ experts felt strongly enough about the feedback that national writer Chris Hummer and Horns247’s Mike Roach entered crystal ball predictions for Hall in favor of Texas.

Adding the 6-foot-3 pass catcher to Texas’ receiver room would surely provide depth that the Longhorns have not had at that position in ages. Hall has the potential, but played sparingly at Alabama catching just four passes for 72 yards. He is currently ranked as the No. 5 transfer available in 247Sports‘ transfer portal.

As of now it seems Texas will be the only visit Hall takes at the moment, as his father expressed to 247Sports that he is focusing on finishing his semester at Alabama, which bodes extremely well for Sarkisian’s staff.

Predicting potential transfer destinations for Alabama WR Agiye Hall

The former 4-star WR will be a redshirt-freshman next season. Here are some programs that should be on the lookout for Agiye Hall.

Alabama wide receiver [autotag]Agiye Hall[/autotag] recently announced his entrance to the NCAA transfer portal. Just a day before he entered the portal, Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced Hall was suspended from the program for violating team rules.

Hall was a true freshman in 2021 and recorded four catches for 72 yards.

The rising sophomore was expected to see a rise in playing time, seeing as three starting wide receivers for the Crimson Tide left the program for the 2022 NFL draft.

It is extremely unlikely that Hall makes a return to Alabama in 2022. Considering how public he was with his frustrations, hey may look to go somewhere in spite of the Crimson Tide.

Here are five potential landing spots for wide receiver Agiye Hall.

Alabama transfer WR Agiye Hall to visit Texas this weekend

Texas has a chance to land one of the portal’s top pass catchers.

Just when we thought Texas’ wide receiver room couldn’t get any stronger, the Longhorns have found themselves in the mix for another highly touted transfer.

Former Alabama wide receiver Agiye Hall recently entered the transfer portal after what seemed to be a rocky tenure in Tuscaloosa.

Horns247 reported on Thursday that the former four-star prospect is set to visit Texas this weekend. Hall is ranked as the No. 5 available transfer according to 247Sports‘ transfer rankings.

Hall and the Texas staff have a pre-existing relationship as Texas’ current special teams coach, Jeff Banks, was his lead recruiter when he was at Alabama.

If the Longhorns are able to add Hall to their already impressive transfer class, he will had some much needed receiver depth outside of the big three of Xavier Worthy, Wyoming transfer Isaiah Neyor, and Jordan Whittington.

While Hall was regarded as one of the top receivers in the class of 2021, he struggled to see the field at Alabama as he caught four passes for 72 yards this past season.

He also seemed to have some growing up to do, as he had a controversial tweet about quitting the team after seeing little playing time in Alabama’s first few games, and was also suspended from the team as recent as last week that ended in his name being removed from Alabama’s roster.

If Hall can put all the off the field issues aside and buy into the new culture at Texas, which in a way will be influenced by that of Alabama’s, he can finally display his skillset that has many fans excited to see him.

What the departure of Agiye Hall means for Alabama’s WR unit

With Agiye Hall not likely to return, how are Alabama’s remaining WRs impacted?

Just a few days ago, Alabama football head coach Nick Saban announced that rising sophomore wide receiver [autotag]Agiye Hall[/autotag] was suspended from the program for a violation of team rules. Less than 24 hours later, Hall entered the NCAA transfer portal.

As a true freshman in 2021, Hall’s contributions were minimal. He reeled in two receptions for 52 yards in the national championship. It was understandably difficult to see the field in his first year, seeing as he played below future NFL draft picks.

Those starters are now gone, as [autotag]Jameson Williams[/autotag], [autotag]John Metchie[/autotag] and [autotag]Slade Bolden[/autotag] have all left the program to enter the 2022 NFL draft. Now, it’s time for a new-look Crimson Tide wide receiving unit.

Hall was not expected to open the upcoming 2022 season as a starter, but was definitely going to get more playing time and likely be in the mix to take over starting role with a good performance.

Now that he is in the transfer portal and is not likely to return, it’s key to see how this move impacts Alabama’s wide receiver corps.
