Travis Kelce hilariously destroyed ‘Burrowhead’ nickname after Chiefs beat Bengals in AFC championship

Tell ’em what you really think, Travis Kelce!

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce didn’t let some Cincinnati Bengals overconfidence go unnoticed after his team punched a ticket to the Super Bowl.

After the Chiefs took down the Bengals at home to claim an AFC title on Sunday, Kelce took to the mic during teammate Patrick Mahomes’ postgame interview and sent a very curt message to the Bengals faithful.

“Burrowhead, my ass,” Kelce exclaimed. “It’s Mahomes’ house!”

Mahomes got a good laugh out of his teammate’s trolling.

For background, the Bengals had started to call Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium “Burrowhead Stadium” after the Cincy quarterback had compiled a 3-0 record against the Chiefs in his young career.

The Chiefs have taken great offense to that nickname, including Kelce.

Well, it looks like “Burrowhead” won’t stick much longer. Kelce’s excitement dispels a lot of the hype surrounding the Bengals being the team to beat in the AFC.

Judging by Sunday’s final result, the conference still belongs to Mahomes and the Chiefs. It’ll probably stop any other team from nicknaming Kansas City’s stadium after their quarterback anytime soon.

1 bettor cashed a million-dollar payout on the Chiefs-Bengals under 49

A million bucks is a fair trade for not a lot of points.

One lucky bettor will be walking away with quite a sum after betting the under on the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals facing off in the AFC championship.

Per VSiN’s Ben Fawkes, one MGM bettor put $1.2 million on the Chiefs and Bengals to hit the under 49 (-120), which was quite a risk with two of the most explosive NFL offenses set to trade barbs.

However, the game featured much more defense than expected and ended in Kansas City’s favor on a Harrison Butker field goal. The final score was 23-20, leaving the game three points behind the under, and leaving that MGM bettor with a big smile and full pockets.

It takes gumption to put that much money on the total underperforming in such a potentially touchdown-happy football game, but this bettor knew better.

The Chiefs will now be celebrating yet another AFC championship with Patrick Mahomes under center, while this bettor will be hoisting up a very lucrative payout.

NFL Playoffs: Chiefs outlast Bengals 23-20, advance to the Super Bowl

Our Super Bowl participants have been solidified

Ladies and gentlemen, our Super Bowl participants have been solidified. The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs, who earned revenge on the Cincinnati Bengals by defeating them 23-20 in the AFC Championship Game.

Patrick Mahomes’ ankle was the most talked about body part all week, and while his mobility was hampered a tad, it didn’t affect his arm. Mahomes threw for over 326 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, including leading the game winning drive.

Officiating will squarely be in the spotlight, as seemingly every 50/50 call went in favor of the Chiefs, but in the end, the Bengals simply didn’t make the requisite plays to win. Joe Burrow threw two interceptions, took four sacks and the ground attack couldn’t get going.

Patrick Mahomes joins Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Kurt Warner as the only quarterbacks since 1993 who have returned to the Super Bowl after previously losing one. Additionally, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid will face his former team, whom he took to a Super Bowl and five NFC Championships.

Navy Veteran’s stunning national anthem performance before Chiefs-Bengals gave NFL fans goosebumps

This rendition of the national anthem will give you goosebumps.

The AFC Championship between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals started with one of the best versions of the national anthem you’ll hear anytime soon.

United States Navy Veteran Generald Wilson belted out a lovely take on the national anthem pre-game. He’s become an NFL favorite to sing the country’s anthem and is no stranger to the Kansas City crowd.

It’s just one of those performances that still make you happy sporting event organizers find people like Wilson who have such an uncanny ability to bring the song to life in the most amazing way.

To boot, Wilson is a Chiefs fan, and Sunday was his birthday.

Seriously, this really was a beautiful rendition of the national anthem. It’s one thing to get a popular singer to belt “The Star-Spangled Banner,” but it’s another to get a professional singer who knows the song by heart.

3 former Washington players on conference championship teams

Three former Washington players are in action during championship Sunday.

On Sunday night, NFL fans will know which two teams will meet in Super Bowl LVII from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Az., in two weeks.

In Sunday’s NFC championship, the Philadelphia Eagles host the San Francisco 49ers in the early game. On Sunday evening, the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Cincinnati Bengals in a rematch from last season’s AFC championship.

While the Washington Commanders were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 17, three former players will suit up in Sunday’s championship games with an opportunity to play in Super Bowl LVII, including one franchise legend.

The 49ers lead the way with two former Washington players on the active roster.

Other former Washington players are on the practice squads of the four NFL finalists, including center Keith Ismael with the 49ers, but we name the three on the remaining 53-man rosters in Sunday’s championship games.

Patrick Mahomes’ trainer posted a hilarious meme to show everyone how his quarterback’s ankle is doing

Patrick Mahomes’ ankle got that dog in it.

Patrick Mahomes’ ankle is one of the leading stories heading into the AFC Championship game.

The Chiefs’ QB injured it last week in their divisional round game against the Jaguars, but it appears to be just fine heading into their matchup against the Bengals.

But, to be sure everyone knows that, Patrick Mahomes’ trainer Bobby Stroupe posted a hilarious meme to let us know that his quarterback is doing just fine.

Apparently, Mahomes’ ankle got that dog in it. Wow. I honestly cannot believe I just typed that. I’m so glad I did, though.

Anyway, take a look for yourself.

Yes, that absolutely is an x-ray of someone’s ankle with a dog in it. And, yes, that dog absolutely does have Patrick Mahomes’ hair sitting atop its head.

To be clear, that’s not Mahomes’ ankle. Or his dog, for that matter.

This is still hilarious nonetheless. Fans loved it.

A look at Joe Burrow’s three wins over Patrick Mahomes

Here’s a look back at Burrow’s past triumphs over Mahomes.

The Bengals are set for another showdown with the Chiefs.

The two have met several times over the last two years — all with high stakes. It’s the second straight year the squads will face off in the AFC title. The Bengals got the victory last year, punching their ticket to the Super Bowl.

[autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] and crew will try to do the same this time around, giving them another chance at the Lombardi. At the moment, Patrick Mahomes and Burrow are the two biggest stars in the NFL.

It’s hard to ask for anything more in an AFC title game than these two trading scores. Let’s take a look back at their previous meetings.
