Recruiting Profile: 2024 Four-star wide receiver Aeryn Hampton

Recruiting profile for 2024 four-star wide receiver Aeryn Hampton who recently included the Sooners in his top seven.

The Oklahoma Sooners are early in their recruitment of four-star wide receiver Aaryn Hampton. After offering back on February 2, the Sooners found their way into his top seven released on February 8.

Emmett Jones had been recruiting Hampton from his time at Texas Tech, and that’s likely the reason the Sooners have quickly joined the race.

The Sooners will have some ground to make up, but as we’ve seen in some recent recruitments, don’t count Brent Venables and his staff out until a prospect’s name is signed on that national letter of intent.

As a prospect, Hampton displays incredible athleticism and breakaway speed. He’s a big-play threat every time he’s on the field because of his incredible agility and vision once the ball is in his hands. He’s a two-way player, starring in multiple defensive back roles, at wide receiver, and even returns kick with great effectiveness.

He’s a player that can play both in the slot and on the outside because of his quickness, agility, and speed.

The Sooners will have to catch up to the Crimson Tide to become a serious contender in the recruitment. They’ve already made significant headway in such a short time that they’ll be in it till the end.

Four-star WR Aeryn Hampton trims list to 7 with Oklahoma making the cut

Oklahoma finds itself in the top 7 for four-star WR Aeryn Hampton, along with Alabama, Texas, Oregon and others.

Oklahoma’s roots in recruiting Texas remain unchanged. With the hiring of Emmett Jones to be the wide receivers coach, one could argue that Oklahoma has made recruiting the state of Texas even more of a priority. Jones’ connections to the Texas high school football scene, especially within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex have given the Sooners a bump in the Lone Star State.

It’ll be a while before we get to accurately assess how the hire is going. However, Jones has done an incredible job of building relationships and putting Oklahoma in the middle of races with some of the nation’s best pass-catchers.

A couple of days ago, Aeryn Hampton, a four-star wide receiver from Daingerfield, Texas, listed Oklahoma in his top seven. The Sooners join Alabama, Texas, Oregon, Nebraska, LSU, and Michigan as the finalists.

Hampton, a composite top-80 player, is an explosive prospect. Alabama currently has the most predictions in their favor per 247Sports as it stands, but Oklahoma’s offer on February 2nd moved the needle enough to get the Sooners in the top seven.

Oklahoma has time to make a real impression, but with Alabama trending as the leader right now, Jones and offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby will need to turn up the heat if they want to give the Sooners a real fighting chance.

LSU makes top 7 for top-100 WR Aeryn Hampton

The Tigers seemingly have some ground to make up here, but they remain in the race.

[autotag]Aeryn Hampton[/autotag] is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound, four-star wide receiver from the class of 2024.

Hampton is from Daingerfield, Texas, where he plays for Dangerfield High School. The Daingerfield Tigers finished the 2022 season 10-3 with a loss to Newton in the Regional round of the Texas UIL 3A playoffs.

Hampton recently released a list of his top seven schools and the LSU Tigers made the list. LSU joins Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, Michigan and Nebraska.

There have been four crystal ball projections for Hampton so far. Two of them were for Alabama, one was for Texas and one was for Nebraska. The most recent one was to the Crimson Tide on Jan. 14.

Alabama is a 55% favorite according to On3, as well.

So far, LSU seems like a longshot to land the talented receiver, but there is still a chance for [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] to pull it off. LSU’s 2024 recruiting class is currently ranked as the No. 3 class in the country.

Top-100 WR Aeryn Hampton puts Oregon among top schools

4-star WR Aeryn Hampton, the No. 77 player in the 2024 class, has Oregon among his top schools.

It’s starting to look like the wide receiver group in Oregon’s 2024 recruiting class could be pretty special.

Already, the Ducks have commitments from Jordan Anderson and Tysheer Denmark, the No. 84 and No. 87 players in the nation, respectively. Now Oregon has also landed in the top-7 for 4-star WR Aeryn Hampton, who is rated as the No. 77 overall player in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite.

Hampton is listed as an athlete, where he is the No. 7 at his position in the class, though he is expected to play on the offensive side of the ball in college.

There are several Crystal Balls already logged for Hampton on 247Sports, with the Alabama Crimson Tide currently favored to land the 5-foot-10, 175-pound receiver.

Oregon extended an offer to Hampton back in December, and he has yet to take a visit to Eugene, so we will see if that takes place over the coming months as he continues his recruitment.

LSU makes the cut for 4-star receiver

The Tigers are looking to sway former Texas commit Aeryn Hampton.

[autotag]Aeryn Hampton[/autotag] is a 2024 four-star wide receiver from Daingerfield, Texas, where he plays for Dangerfield High School.

Hampton recently released his top-ten list of schools he will consider moving forwards and the LSU Tigers made the cut. The Tigers join Alabama, Oregon, Nebraska, Michigan, Colorado, Ole Miss, Texas, TCU, and Michigan State in the top 10.

Hampton was once a Texas commitment, but he decommitted on Nov. 29. The Longhorns have been crystal ball predicted to land him twice, but those were earlier in 2022.

The most recent crystal ball prediction has Hampton going to Nebraska to play for new head coach Matt Rhule. Needless to say, Hampton is up for grabs and LSU has its name in the hat.

The Tigers currently have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the class of 2024 with eight commitments. Hampton would join Joseph Stone in the receiving core in this class if he were to commit.

HOOKED: Texas lands commitment from 2024 DB Aeryn Hampton

#SarkAfterDark strikes again!

Texas struck again with a late night commitment, adding Aeryn Hampton to their 2024 recruiting class just after midnight.

Hampton is a player many teams in the Big 12 have interest in. The east Texas product chose the Longhorns over offers from the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

The do-it-all player was a force on both sides of the ball during his sophomore season at Daingerfield. Hampton tallied over 1300 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense playing both wide receiver and running back. He also excelled as a defensive back where he snagged nine interceptions including five pick-sixes.

Hampton joins fellow defensive back Jaden Allen as the lone commits of the 2024 class.

It is a long way until Hampton officially signs, but landing a commitment from a talent like him is a major victory for Texas’ staff.
