Former legendary New England Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia is hopeful about the impact current offensive line coach Adrian Klemm is going to have.

Scarnecchia, a recent inductee in the Patriots’ Hall of Fame, spoke on the “6 Rings & Football Things” podcast earlier this week. He has a history with Klemm, having coached him back when he played for the Patriots.

New England will look to find consistency along the offensive front considering the unit was a sore spot for the organization last season. Scarnecchia believes Klemm will be able to breathe life back into the struggling unit.

“Adrian went into coaching right after he got done playing. I think he’s had a really good career in college,” said Scarnecchia, as transcribed by Pats Pulpit. “I remember I went out to work out a player at UCLA, and Adrian was the offensive line coach. I sat at a distance and watched him coach the whole practice. He’s a detailed guy. He’s tough. He doesn’t have much patience for guys that aren’t working hard. I was really impressed with the way he went about his business.”

It will be interesting to see if the offensive line can make that jump this season. At the very least, a vote of confidence from a pillar of the team’s recent success is encouraging.

Another Patriots player sings praises of OL coach Adrian Klemm

The praise keeps on coming for Patriots offensive line coach Adrian Klemm.

New England Patriots offensive line coach Adrian Klemm has been getting praise over the past couple days, as Patriots players get their first look at the revamped coaching staff.

Earlier in the week, Patriots newcomer Riley Reiff talked up Klemm’s coaching. On Thursday, veteran offensive tackle Calvin Anderson was yet another player impressed by what Klemm has brought to the table so far.

Anderson signed a two-year contract with the Patriots on March 16, as part of New England’s continued offseason revamp. He comes to the Patriots after spending three seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Klemm came to New England in January with the team looking to improve their offensive line play, following a dismal 2022 season. Anderson talked up Klemm’s coaching style when speaking to media members.

“I love AK so far,” said Anderson. “You can tell he played. You can tell he understands the positions we’re put in on the field. I always have an appreciation for guys who understand, first-hand, what it’s like to be playing.”

The real test will be when we see the product on the field beginning in Week 1 against the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. However, for now, the positive praise towards Klemm is worth noting.

Riley Reiff gives first impressions of Patriots OL coach Adrian Klemm

Riley Reiff hasn’t been a Patriot for long, but he’s already encouraged from what he’s seeing from newly-hired OL coach Adrian Klemm.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

Newly-signed New England Patriots offensive lineman Riley Reiff had high praise for offensive line coach Adrian Klemm on Tuesday.

Klemm came over from the Oregon Ducks in January. He left Eugene with a good resume. Oregon finished as the top school in all of college football in sacks allowed in the 2022 season. They gave up just five takedowns in 13 contests.

Klemm should be able to help a Patriots offensive line that struggled at times last season by giving up 41 sacks on the year. That put them in the middle of the pack in the NFL.

“It’s been great,” said Reiff. “Right now, we’re in the offseason workouts learning the playbook, learning the techniques that he wants. He’s been an awesome coach, teacher—and we’re just trying to build every day.”

It will be intriguing to see how the offensive line performs under Klemm after a difficult season last year.  This vote of confidence from Reiff is certainly encouraging, as New England looks to remain afloat in the AFC East.

New Patriots OL coach gives initial impressions of Cole Strange

Patriots OL coach Adrian Klemm is already liking what he’s seeing from Cole Strange.

Newly-hired New England Patriots offensive line coach Adrian Klemm had some high early praise for offensive guard Cole Strange, when speaking with media members.

Strange is entering his second year after and up-and-down rookie season. The Patriots clearly have high hopes for the 2022 first-round draft pick, and Klemm’s arrival, coupled with the hiring of offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, could help the former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga star take his game to the next level.

“Without going into details, a guy that gives tremendous effort,” Klemm said, when talking about Strange, per NESN’s Dakota Randall. “And just super athletic and he cares and it’s important to him. I’m excited to work with him and excited based on the things I’ve seen on film.”

Strange started in 17 games for the Patriots last season and received a 54.6 overall Pro Football Focus grade.

The good news is his best performances came in the second half of the season with his best game coming against the Buffalo Bills in the season finale. So the clear progression is already documented.

A Year 2 jump for Strange with the right coaching could make a drastic difference.

5 takeaways from Patriots’ first week of free agency

Five thoughts on the Patriots’ splash in the first week of free agency.

Well, folks, the first week of free agency is in the books, and thankfully, the New England Patriots didn’t fall asleep at the wheel.

They had a ton of cap space to play with this time around, and given the way the 2022 season ended, there was extra fire and motivation to get things right.

The team managed to keep their defense mostly intact, while also giving their offense a significant facelift. Most would consider that an immediate success right out of the gates.

Granted, the Patriots still have space to make more moves as we enter the second week of the new league year. The sprinting portion of free agency might be over, but the marathon is still ongoing to make the roster the best it can be heading into the 2023 season.

Here are five takeaways from what the Patriots have done so far.

Steelers GM gave glowing review of Patriots coach Adrian Klemm

Steelers GM Omar Khan had some big compliments for Patriots coach Adrian Klemm at the NFL Scouting Combine.

New England Patriots offensive line coach Adrian Klemm is still getting rave reviews from general managers around the NFL. Count Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan as a fan of Klemm’s work.

Khan and Klemm worked together in Pittsburgh for three seasons. Klemm was Pittsburgh’s assistant offensive line coach in 2019 and 2020. He was promoted to offensive line coach, but then he left for a job at Oregon in 2021. While at Oregon, he served the roles of offensive line coach, run game coordinator, and associate head coach.

Khan met with media members at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Tuesday and raved about New England’s newest hire, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Zack Cox.

“Adrian was great,” Khan said. “I loved my interactions with him. We had great conversations and hearing about his sons was great, they were around all the time. Just a good person to be around. (I) really enjoyed our time with him. …I loved his energy, and his honesty and his demeanor were great.”

Klemm will be tasked with turning around an offensive line unit that gave up 41 sacks in 2022.

That mark put them in the middle of the pack in the NFL. A successful offensive line will be crucial, as the Patriots look to find more success and balance offensively.

Former Oregon GA lands job at Stanford as new OL coach

Former Oregon Ducks’ graduate assistant Viane Talamaivao has accepted the OL coaching job for the Stanford Cardinal.

It’s been quite a productive offseason for former Oregon Ducks offensive assistant Viane Talamaivao.

After spending the 2022 season in Eugene working as a graduate assistant on the offensive line under Adrian Klemm, Talamaivao accepted the job as OL coach for Northern Arizona this offseason. However, on Monday it was reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz that Talamaivao will actually be taking the OL coaching job for the Stanford Cardinal instead.

This is a big step up for the former Oregon assistant, who will now take over as the top OL coach on a Power 5 school in the Pac-12. Talamaivao will work under head coach Troy Taylor, who is taking over the Cardinal after David Shaw stepped down this offseason.

After Klemm left the Ducks for a job with the New England Patriots last month, it was briefly thought that Oregon might reach out to Talamaivao to come back to Eugene to take over as the OL coach, but Dan Lanning instead chose to bring A’lique Terry back to Oregon.

7 things to know about Mike Cavanaugh, Oregon’s newest offensive coach

Who is Mike Cavanaugh? A veteran OL coach with a strong connection to the state of Oregon, and a long relationship with Adrian Klemm.

The Oregon Ducks made yet another coaching hire on Thursday afternoon, this time bringing in one of the veteran-most voices that the program now has.

It was reported that Dan Lanning and the Ducks hired former Arizona State offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh to come onto the staff as an assistant OL coach and offensive analyst. Cavanaugh will work closely with A’lique Terry, who was hired by Oregon earlier this month to replace Adrian Klemm.

Cavanaugh immediately becomes one of the most well-established coaches on Oregon’s staff, with decades of experience in the college game and a long track record of sending college players off to the NFL.

After the hire was reported on Thursday, I did a deep dive into Cavanaugh to find out who exactly the Ducks were adding to the coaching staff. What I found did not disappoint.

5 things to know about Oregon Ducks’ newest OL coach A’lique Terry

A lof of Duck fans already know a bit about A’lique Terry. If you don’t, though, learn about Oregon’s newest OL coach.

The past week or so has been willed with speculation about who the Oregon Ducks might be hiring as their next offensive line coach after the departure of Adrian Klemm, who left to take a coaching job with the New England Patriots.

That speculation is now over, with the Ducks announcing that they will be hiring A’lique Terry to be the new offensive line coach, bringing him back from the NFL ranks where he was presently on the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff.

The news seemed to be very well received by both fans and players, both past and present. But why was everyone so excited by the announcement? Once you learn a little bit about Terry, it’s not hard to understand. Here are five things that you need to know about the newest member of Oregon’s coaching staff:
