Adidas officially relaunches iconic F50 boots

After nearly a decade away, the iconic F50 has returned

The iconic Adidas F50 boots have returned.

Adidas officially relaunched the F50 on Tuesday, bringing the shoe back after nearly a decade away.

The F50 first launched ahead of Euro 2004, and became one of the best-known shoes in the game. Now, 20 years later, Adidas has brought the F50 back.

The F50 “Fast Reborn” was first worn on the pitch by Lionel Messi last weekend. The Inter Miami and Argentina star will be followed in upcoming matches by some of the game’s top players, including Rafael Leão, Son Heung-min, Linda Caicedo, Trinity Rodman, Lamine Yamal and Florian Wirtz.

The first iteration of the “Fast Reborn” shoes features a purple base color, with details in “Cloud White” and “Lucid Lemon.”

Sam Handy, SVP of Product and Design at Adidas said: “The F50 is a defining boot for so many across the last two decades, and with nine years on ice, the time is right to reintroduce its game-defining speed.

“With modern-day football so dominated by tactics, statistics, and often rigid tactical structures – sometimes out-and-out speed is the only way of breaking the game.”

Cowboys’ Micah Parsons signs partnership deal with Adidas

From @ToddBrock24f7: The superstar edge rusher will wear the brand’s cleats and apparel in 2024 as part of a new multi-year partnership.

Edge rusher Micah Parsons is one of three high-profile Cowboys players eligible for a lucrative new contract from the team this offseason, but he’s not letting the front office’s foot-dragging keep him from cashing in now.

The Adidas brand announced Tuesday that they have signed Parsons to a multi-year partnership that will have the soon-to-be 25-year-old participating in the manufacturer’s marketing campaigns and sporting their apparel. He’ll also wear the Adidas Adizero Impact cleats when he takes the field in 2024.

“Since day one, I’ve wanted to be a global ambassador for the game, inspiring the next generation of athletes and fans around the world,” Parsons said. “It’s very clear to me that Adidas is best aligned with my ambitions and career goals. The three stripes has already done so much for me and I know that this is going to be special.”

Parsons is the latest football star to join the Adidas camp. Patrick Mahomes, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Chris Jones, Brock Purdy, David Njoku, Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence and Aaron Jones are already affiliated with the brand. Incoming rookies Michael Penix Jr., Adonai Mitchell, Rome Odunze and Xavier Legette have deals as well.

A first-round draft selection by Dallas in 2021, Parsons has earned All-Pro honors in each of his three seasons, unanimously won Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season, and has been up for Defensive Player of the Year three times.

“Since his rookie year, Micah has distinguished himself as a transformational player in the league with his relentless drive, unique and engaging personality, and overall pursuit of greatness,” said Chris McGuire, Adidas vice president of sports marketing. “Micah is a perfect addition to join the three stripes. His passion for greatness – both on and off the field – positions him to be one of the biggest stars in the game, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join the Adidas family.”

‘Top 15 deal’: Texas A&M Athletics signs 5-year, multi-million dollar agreement with Adidas

“In the market of sports apparel and college athletics, it’s really a top 15 deal,” former athletic director Ross Bjork told The Eagle.

The Texas A&M Athletics Department has agreed to a new multi-million dollar merchandise deal with Adidas according to a recent report.

Per Travis Brown of The Eagle, the agreement is for five years and $47 million to keep the German giant as the Aggies’ exclusive uniform and apparel provider.

Before leaving College Station in January to become the next director of athletics at The Ohio State University, Ross Bjork took part in the negotiations.

“In the market of sports apparel and college athletics, it’s really a top 15 deal,” Bjork told The Eagle. “In a suppressed market, with Under Armour being out of the market, there’s two players: it’s Nike and Adidas. When we went through the negotiation, it was clear that Adidas was the best option, financially — equipment, apparel, all the components that they do from a marketing standpoint.

“They’ve just become a good partner here at A&M.”

The contract is effective from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2027, according to Brown. Per Bjork, Texas A&M and Adidas “operated on a term sheet for approximately a year of the deal as they continued to iron out the final contract,” the report stated.

The Aggies have been partners with the iconic three-stripe brand since 2007 after previously working with Nike.

Germany to change design of No. 4 on new kits — for very good reason

Fans quickly noticed a resemblance to an infamous Nazi logo

The German football federation (DFB) and Adidas have announced that they will redesign the number four on the national team’s new kits due to an unfortunate resemblance to the Nazi party’s “SS” unit logo.

The Germany men’s national team debuted the new kits over the recent international break. Fans quickly noticed that when customizing a jersey online, the No. 44 looked quite similar to the logo used by the Schutzstaffe — a paramilitary unit responsible for some of the worst atrocities of World War Two.

Ahead of hosting Euro 2024 this summer, the DFB and Adidas moved quickly to ensure the mistake would be corrected.

A statement posted on the official DFB account on X said: “The DFB checks the numbers 0-9 and then submits the numbers 1-26 to UEFA for review. None of the parties involved saw any proximity to Nazi symbolism in the development process of the jersey design.

“Nevertheless, we take the information very seriously and do not want to provide a platform for discussions. Together with our partner 11teamsports, we will develop an alternative design for the number 4 and coordinate it with UEFA.”

The “SS” logo is a banned symbol in Germany.

Adidas spokesman Oliver Bruggen told German media: “As a company we actively oppose xenophobia, anti-Semitism, violence and hatred in any form.”

Adidas Tour360 ’24 golf shoes

Adidas has updated its flagship spiked shoe for 2024 by adding more cushioning and stability.

Gear: Adidas Tour360 ’24 golf shoes
Price: $200
Specs: Waterproof leather shoes with seven replaceable spikes
Available: Feb. 29

Who It’s For: Serious golfers who want more cushioning and comfort from a shoe designed to provide elite levels of stability and traction.

The Skinny: Adidas has updated its flagship spiked shoe for 2024 by adding more cushioning and stability to a shoe that already had tour-level stability.

The Deep Dive: As golfers’ attitudes about footwear have evolved and changed over the last decade, Adidas has been making more and more shoes based on popular sneakers that also have golf-specific features. For example, the classic Stan Smith, the Samba and the iconic Superstars have all been released as golf shoes recently, including special-edition offerings. However, for serious golfers who demand tour-level stability and traction, Adidas has been offering the Tour360 for 19 years. For 2024, the Tour360 has been upgraded to deliver more cushioning and comfort without sacrificing the features that make it the shoe of choice for Collin Morikawa and several other elite players.

Adidas Tour360 24 has seven replaceable spikes and a rigid outsole for extra traction and stability. (Adidas)

To help the Tour360 24 fit better, Adidas changed the insole and the sock liner and added a sleeve that is attached to the tongue so your foot stays wrapped in soft material as you walk over uneven ground, sand and dirt. The shoe’s last, which is a footwear term that relates to its overall shape and fit, has also been designed in both medium and wide width for men. (The women’s Tour 360 24 comes in medium only.)

Adidas has added a foam material it calls Jet Boost to the heel to provide cushioning. It is firmer than some other materials used in golf shoes, so it enhances stability. In the forefoot, Lightstrike, a softer cushioning material, helps to make walking more comfortable.

To enhance stability further, the three stripes designed into the side of the Tour360 24 wrap under your arch and have been integrated into the lacing system, so tying your shoes brings extra support. That area of the midsole floats above the outsole and a rigid plate that Adidas calls a Torsion Bridge. It is made from a thermoplastic polyurethane and helps to keep the seven replaceable spikes and the other traction elements locked to the ground as you swing.

The Tour360 24 is waterproof and is available with traditional laces and a ratcheting BOA system that allows golfers to turn a small dial on the side of the shoe to gently tighten the shoe before zipping up the top of the shoe and hiding the BOA wires.
