Sweden’s Linn Grant turns heads with high-top golf shoes at the Old Course

“They’re more comfortable than they look,” said Grant. “They’re very warm.”

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Linn Grant brought a new look to the Old Course this week with a pair of high-top golf shoes. The new Adidas x JAY3LLE is a collaboration designed by Johan Lindeberg and his daughter, Blue.

“They’re more comfortable than they look,” said Grant of the shoes that resemble something a boxer might wear. “They’re very warm.”

The futuristic high-top golf shoe, known as CodeChaos, features a buckle and tee holder. The new line is designed to encourage women to feel strong, powerful and bold on the course.

“They’re based off of a golf shoe that already exists,” said Grant, “and I’m very familiar with how they feel.”

Now a two-time winner on the men’s DP World Tour, Sweden’s Grant opened with a 5-over 77 at the AIG Women’s British Open.

Noah Lyles denied a rumor that he disrespected Anthony Edwards’ adidas signature shoe release

Noah Lyles is walking back comments he reportedly made about NBA star Anthony Edwards.

Two of the biggest stars from the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics were Noah Lyles and Anthony Edwards.

Lyles and Edwards both became first-time Olympic gold medalists this summer. Before testing positive for COVID-19 and withdrawing from the Olympics this year, Lyles won a gold medal in the 100 meter for track and field. Edwards was a standout performer on the U.S. men’s basketball roster.

Both gold medalists have signed endorsement deals with the shoe company adidas. Recent reporting suggests that there is potentially animosity between the two, but Lyles is attempting to squash those growing rumors.

Included in a recent feature about Lyles is an anecdote about why the sprinter did not attend a shoe-release event for Edwards. Here is more (via TIME):

When Lyles was negotiating an Adidas contract extension last year, the company, he says, threw him what it thought was a bone. Adidas invited him to the shoe-release event for Anthony Edwards, the rising Minnesota Timberwolves star who’s got plenty of talent but, unlike Lyles, isn’t a six-time world champ. “You want to do what?” says Lyles. “You want to invite me to [an event for] a man who has not even been to an NBA Finals? In a sport that you don’t even care about? And you’re giving him a shoe? No disrespect: the man is an amazing athlete. He is having a heck of a year. I love that they saw the insight to give him a shoe, because they saw that he was going to be big. All I’m asking is, ‘How could you not see that for me?’”

Lyles, who wondered last year whether or not NBA Finals winners should call themselves world champions, has raised some eyebrows from basketball players and fans.

His reported comments about Edwards’ signature shoe would add further fuel to that fire, especially because the Timberwolves guard is one of the faces of the brand.

But he is creating some distance between himself and the comments that he allegedly made to TIME. He is now suggesting that he could not attend the event based on scheduling conflicts.

He added that Edwards is an “amazing player” and congratulated the former No. 1 overall pick on also becoming a champion at the Olympics.

Adidas Code Chaos 25 golf shoes

You can expect to start seeing Adidas Code Chaos 25 on store shelves beginning August 1.

For golfers who want high-performance, traditional-looking golf shoes, Adidas has offered the Tour360 for years. It has been updated numerous times to add more cushioning, stability, traction and comfort, but it still looks like a traditional golf shoe.

In 2020, Adidas debuted something different for golfers who want a sportier, fresh look without sacrificing performance: the original Code Chaos. Made using multi-layer mesh, the shoe was breathable, light and waterproof.

Code Chaos has been updated, and special versions have dropped, but Adidas is now set to release Code Chaos 25.

Who is the Adidas Code Chaos 25 golf shoe for?

Like previous generations, the new Code Chaos is designed for people who want a golf shoe that offers higher performance than casual spikeless golf shoes but is more youthful and versatile than a traditional spiked shoe.

What should I know about the Adidas Code Chaos 25 golf shoes?

The biggest goal for Adidas with the Code Chaos 25 was to increase traction and stability without sacrificing comfort.

While Code Chaos remains a spikeless shoe, Adidas achieved that by adding a piece to the outsole (the shoe’s bottom) that it refers to as a 3D Torsion Plate. This rigid area between the forefoot and heel areas reduces bending in the midfoot area and heel slipping as you swing.

In addition to the 3D Torsion Plate, Adidas updated the positioning and side of the TwistGrip lugs on the outsole so more of their surface area comes into contact with the ground. According to Adidas, they increase traction by up to 40 percent over the previous Code Chaos.

Adidas created a hybrid midsole piece by combining its Boost and Lightstrike materials so the Code Chaos can provide more cushioning and comfort as you walk the course. The top of the upper (top portion) of Code Chaos is made using a flexible, multi-layer knit material. It has a transparent polyurethane film that makes the shoes waterproof while also creating a see-through look at the mesh and upper.

There is a traditional lace-up version of Code Chaos 25 for both men and women, but Adidas is very excited about a BOA version. After putting your foot in the shoe, a zip-up piece covers the tongue to encase your foot fully. Then, by turning a small dial on the side of the shoe, golfers can gently tighten a wire system to achieve a personalized fit. The system is called BOA PerformFit Wrap, and it is meant to give players a ‘locked-in’ feel on the course.

When you are done playing, pulling the dial out instantly releases the wires and relaxes the shoes.

How much do Adidas Code Chaos 25 golf shoes cost?

The men’s laced version of Adidas Code Chaos 25 will cost $160, and the BOA version will cost $180. The laced women’s Code Chaos 25 will be $160 and the women’s BOA edition will cost $180.

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes’s offseason work isn’t over. He recently helped deliver a special announcement from his alma mater. Texas Tech is starting a new 10-year partnership with Adidas, making the brand the university’s official footwear, uniform, apparel, and accessory provider.

Mahomes took to social media to help reveal the news of Texas Tech joining the Adidas brand by continuing the theme of “ripping off the tape” to celebrate the start of the new partnership. In 2019, he had previously worn a shirt with tape covering the former team brand partner Under Armor during a visit to watch the basketball team.

Mahomes has been part of the Addisas family since joining the NFL and is prominently featured in the campaign to reveal the long-term partnership. The reigning Super Bowl MVP’s logo is also on display, adding another signature touch to the collaboration.

During his college career at Texas Tech, Mahomes accumulated 11,252 passing yards and 115 total touchdowns in three seasons. He was selected tenth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Chiefs and has consistently supported the Red Raiders program.
