Penn State hockey names team captains for 2021-22 season

Penn State football is just about to get started but the hockey team just named their captains for the upcoming season too.

Sure, we’re all getting amped for the start of the Penn State football season, which is now just days away. But that won’t stop the Penn State hockey fans from thinking about the start of another season on the ice. On Thursday, Penn State’s hockey program announced who the captains for this year’s squad will be.

Paul DeNaples was voted team captain while Clayton Phillips, Adam Pilewicz, and Connor McMenamin will serve as alternates.

“Being a good teammate and properly representing the University that gave me this amazing opportunity has been a priority of mine since I stepped foot on campus,” DeNaples said in a released statement. “For my teammates and coaches to believe and trust in me to represent them is very humbling. Nothing is more important to me than to keep building this culture and to lead this team to a championship. I’m excited to get the season going and to see what we will achieve as a team.”

The Nittany Lions will get their season started at Pegula Ice Arena on October 3 against Long Island University.
