WATCH: Sterling Skye Mahomes surprises dad with ‘Madden NFL 22’ 99 Club announcement

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes learned about his selection to #Madden22’s #99Club from his baby daughter Sterling Skye.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has made the 99 Club in “Madden NFL 22″ for the third consecutive season, but the way he found out about it this year tops all other seasons.

Brittany Matthews, Mahomes’ fiancee, dressed their baby daughter Sterling Skye in a onesie to surprise Patrick with his 99 overall rating announcement. The onesie had a special message for the star quarterback, who read it aloud:

“Dad is in the 99 Club again,” Mahomes said. “Nice, that’s the best surprise ever.”

This probably won’t resonate with most of the fans of the video game franchise, but talk about an adorable moment for the Mahomes family.

Mahomes is not only the top-ranked quarterback in the game with a 99 overall rating, but he’s also on the cover of the game with the quarterback who most recently defeated him in Super Bowl LV. We haven’t yet learned where the rest of the quarterbacks rank, but we know that Tom Brady isn’t a 99 overall this time around.

Mahomes is the second Chiefs player to be named to the 99 Club this season, joining TE Travis Kelce, who was named to the 99 Club earlier this week. Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams and Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald and CB Jalen Ramsey are the only other players to be named to the 99 Club to start the 2021 NFL season.

“Madden NFL 22” launches on August 20, 2021, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S platforms.

As with each new entry in the Madden franchise, there always comes the oft-debated ratings of all the players in the game. Fans will often squabble online about who should have been rated higher or lower out of a total score of 99 overall, but it typically fosters excitement for the upcoming game.

With this in mind, it is time to take a look at the top-10 rated Seahawks in “Madden NFL 21.”

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas was pleased to join the 99 Club in “Madden NFL 21,” making him one of the best players in the game.

Reactions are usually mixed among NFL players when they learn their grade in the latest iteration of the “Madden” franchise from EA Sports. Oftentimes, they’re motivated to work even harder and earn more respect after a perceived slight from a rating lower than what they think they deserve.

Other times, though, they reach the limit of what’s possible within the popular video game series. That’s the case for New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas, who was selected as the fifth member of the 99 Club in “Madden NFL 21” after his record-setting 2019 season.

And fans got a look at Thomas in real time as he learned that he’d be joining that exclusive group from a video shared by the official Saints Twitter account, with some help from Thomas’s barber. See it for yourself:

Michael Thomas earns a spot on exclusive 99 Club for ‘Madden NFL 21’

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas joined an elite group of other superstars in the 99 Club for EA Sports’ Madden NFL 21.

Don’t look now, but New Orleans Saints superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas has added another honor to his growing list of accolades. Thomas was selected as the fifth — and so far, final — member of the elite “99 Club” in EA Sports’ Madden NFL 21, reflecting his status as one of the highest-rated players in the game.

Thomas joins a select group of other NFL superstars including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, and New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

It’s a fitting reward for Thomas after his historic 2019 campaign, in which he earned recognition as the NFL Offensive Player of the Year after setting a new single-season record for receptions (149). Thomas was also named a first-team All-Pro and was voted into his third consecutive Pro Bowl trip.

Fans who want to test Thomas’s skills for themselves will have to wait for Madden NFL 21 to be released on Aug. 25.

For the second straight year, Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is a part of the prestigious “99 Club” for EA Sports’ Madden video game franchise. He’s one of four players who received a 99 rating in this year’s edition of the game. The others are Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes part of exclusive ’99 Club’ in ‘Madden NFL 21’

Mahomes will be among the top-rated quarterbacks in ‘Madden NFL 21’ this season.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is headlining the “99 Club” for “Madden NFL 21” in the latest installment in the Madden video game franchise by EA Sports. On Monday morning, Mahomes was announced as the first member of the exclusive club, which features only the highest-rated players in the game.

The past year, when Mahomes was the cover athlete for “Madden NFL 20”, he didn’t carry a 99 overall rating initially. It wasn’t until later in the season after a few title updates that Mahomes became a player with a 99 rating. The Super Bowl MVP that Mahomes won in Super Bowl LIV must have been the kicker for the developers to finally give him his due credit as one of the best players in the game.

In honor of joining the “99 Club”, EA Sports sent Mahomes some cool Madden swag. Travis Kelce helped surprise Mahomes with the news over the weekend at Lake Tahoe during the American Century Championship. Check it out:

“Best QB in the league, the best rating in the game, baby,” Kelce said.

Realistically, the chances of Christian McCaffrey winning the MVP award this year are not good. Team success is ultimately what determines that more than anything else and the Panthers simply aren’t winning enough games. However, there are still records to break and accolades to earn.
