Seahawks planning to re-sign defensive end Branden Jackson

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to new terms with defensive end Branden Jackson, who was released just a little over a week ago.

The Seattle Seahawks are quickly bringing a familiar face back into the mix after releasing him just over a week ago. Seattle is planning to re-sign defensive end Branden Jackson, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“That was fast: The #Seahawks are re-signing DE Branden Jackson, source said,” Rapoport tweeted Monday morning. “He actually was just released by Seattle more than a week ago, but will re-sign under a different deal on Wednesday when he clears protocol.”

The new terms will likely be less than the $2.133 million Jackson was would have commanded on his restricted free agent tender and will save Seattle some cap space.

Jackson originally joined the Seahawks as a member of the practice squad in 2017 before ultimately being promoted to the active roster. For Seattle last year, Jackson started three of 15 regular-season games played and logged 2.0 sacks.

Jackson will have to clear the COVID-19 testing protocol before he can participate in team activities.
