The 49ers were in control in their season finale vs. the Seahawks. Then the talent gap between the two clubs set in and Seattle rattled off three consecutive scores in the fourth quarter to put the game and San Francisco’s season away.

It was another disappointing game in a season full of falling short for the 49ers. Here’s everything we know from Week 17:

Observations from another 49ers loss to cap a disappointing season

The San Francisco 49ers gave the Seattle Seahawks their best shot, but it wasn’t enough.

The 49ers led the Seahawks by 10 early in the fourth quarter. 12 minutes later they were down 3, and a much healthier, more talented Seattle team put it away to cap their year with a 26-16 win and send the 49ers home with another disappointing loss and a 6-10 finish.

Here is our running notebook from throughout the game:

Watch: George Kittle makes incredible 1-handed catch vs. Seahawks

George Kittle’s one-handed catch vs. the Seahawks was ridiculous and put the 49ers in position to score.

George Kittle is good at football, it turns out.

The 49ers’ tight end was the target of a CJ Beathard deep shot from midfield on the team’s second drive of the second half. Beathard’s throw was a bit high, but Kittle made a sensational leaping, juggling, one-handed snag to put San Francisco at the Seahawks’ 8.

Had Kittle kept his feet he’d have had the play of the year for the 49ers. Instead they wound up settling for a field goal to put them up 9-6.

Observations from a 37-27 49ers loss to Seahawks

The 49ers fell to the Seahawks in an ugly loss that likely ends their playoff hopes.

The 49ers had a chance to turn their season around with a win in Seattle. Instead, they played one of their worst games of the year and saw quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle exit with injuries in the process.

Here are our observations from a rough day for the 49ers in Seattle:

– Nice job by the 49ers defense on the opening drive to force a three-and-out. A couple screens to DK Metcalf and a sack of Russell Wilson led to a punt. K’Waun Williams was credited with the sack.

– Tevin Coleman gets the start and the first carry in his first action since Week 2.

– Jimmy Garoppolo’s first throw of the day is a second-down completion to Brandon Aiyuk for 19 and a first down. His second throw was dropped by George Kittle. He might’ve led the tight end a touch far.

– JaMycal Hasty gets the second carry of the game. He gets five on a second-and-10.

– The 49ers tried a wildcat look with Jerick McKinnon at running back and Brandon Aiyuk as the running back alongside him in the shotgun. It lost three yards. They should never run that play again.

– Really good tackle on a second-and-10 on the Seahawks second series. They threw a screen to WR David Moore and Jason Verrett flew up to stop him for a gain of five.

– What a play by Russell Wilson. Fred Warner hit him just as he threw and he still delivered a strike to Moore for a first down. Marcell Harris was a touch late over the top in coverage.

– The Seahawks first run of the game comes after seven passes. It was a second-and-15 and a blitzing K’Waun Williams stopped it for a loss of three. Tons of blitzing early.

– Former 49ers linebacker Nick Bellore just got a carry for Seattle on a third-and-18.

– A lucky break for San Francisco. Hasty fumbled, but a Seahawks player was out of bounds when he touched it, giving the 49ers the ball back.

– And Garoppolo gave it away on the next play. He throws an interception right to former 49ers DB DJ Reed in Reed’s first action of the year. That’s INT No. 5 for Garoppolo. Really, really bad play from him.

– Bellore converts on a third-and-8 off a short throw. Then Wilson hits Tyler Lockett for another first down. Then another first down on a run by David Moore. That interception from Garoppolo looks worse and worse as this Seattle drive continues.

– And there’s a touchdown to DK Metcalf on a 46-yard catch and run. Just an atrocious job by the 49ers defense to follow the terrible INT. The extra point is wide right. Seahawks 6, 49ers 0

–  Another break for the 49ers. Garoppolo got whacked on first-and-10 to open the drive after the Seattle TD. It was flagged for roughing thee passer.

– Third-and-7 and Garoppolo hits Aiyuk, but Aiyuk’s route didn’t make it to the sticks. It’ll be fourth-and-1 and the 49ers are going for it.

– They got it on a run by Hasty. Good work by the rookie and the offensive line. There was a wide hole and he found it.

– Third-and-9, Garoppolo finds Kendrick Bourne for 10 and San Francisco has first-and-goal at the 5. That’s where Bourne is most dangerous. This was the exact drive the 49ers needed.

– There’s a touchdown. It took three tries but Hasty plows in for six. He got stuffed but made a great effort to hold the ball over the goal line. Robbie Gould hits the extra point to put the 49ers ahead. They needed that drive in a bad way. 49ers 7, Seahawks 6

– Emmanuel Moseley cannot cover DK Metcalf. Wilson hit him for 35 yards on a deep shot with Moseley in one-on-one coverage. Metcalf is at five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.

– Metcalf’s second touchdown. Too easy. He got matched up on Moseley and beat him easily. Seahawks 13, 49ers 7

– False start. Incomplete. Not an ideal start for the 49ers in their attempt to answer the Seahawks’ second touchdown.

– There’s what San Francisco needed. George Kittle makes his first catch of the game and rumbles for 14 on a second-and-15, then Garoppolo keeps it for a first down and third-and-1. At the two-minute warning the 49ers will have a first-and-10 at their own 30. They get the ball after the half, so finding points on this series would be huge.

– A play action roll right with Trent Taylor running a fake jet sweep to the left, then throwing back left to Taylor is an interesting play call that did not work.

– Bobby Wagner badly beats Hroniss Grasu on a third-and-13. Yuck. This is an abysmal half of football for the 49ers offense.

– Nice job by San Francisco’s defense to force a three-and-out. The game could’ve really gotten away if the Seahawks scored any points on that drive.

HALFTIME: Seahawks 13, 49ers 7

– Jerick McKinnon gets the start at running back with Tevin Coleman questionable to return with a knee injury.

– A trick play on a toss and reverse to Aiyuk nearly goes wrong. McKinnon fumbled the toss, but Aiyuk picked it up and picked up a few.

– Garoppolo sacked for a third time on third-and-5. Seattle has zero concern about the 49ers passing offense.

– Now the defense is getting carved up by a person named DeeJay Dallas. This game might be a season ender for the 49ers. Their banged up defense is finally getting exposed.

– Third-and-3 for Seattle. Easy pitch-and-catch to Metcalf. This is a huge issue for the 49ers that they don’t have any adjustment to the second-year wide receiver.

– Touchdown to Dallas. Azeez Al-Shaair lost the running back and Wilson made an easy throw for the score. Seahawks 20, 49ers 7

– And another miscue. Dante Pettis fumbles the ensuing kickoff. Seattle recovers. Pettis will probably never play another down for the 49ers.

– Well, the 49ers pass rush got home. It didn’t matter. Wilson finds David Moore for an easy touchdown. The blowout is on. Seahawks 27, 49ers 7

– Another sack ends San Francisco’s drive after the touchdown. This is as bad as their offense has ever looked. Garoppolo may get pulled again.

– Garoppolo did indeed exit during Seattle’s field goal drive. Seahawks 30, 49ers 7

– Now George Kittle is hurt. Tough one for San Francisco. He’s questionable with an ankle injury.

– Nick Mullens had a nice drive. He went 7-for-10 for 77 yards, and Jerick McKinnon finished it with a touchdown. Seahawks 30, 49ers 14

– The 49ers got Seattle in a third-and-short. A stop would’ve made the game interesting, but the Seahawks easily converted to TE Will Dissly for 17.

– Nice hit by Marcell Harris on DK Metcalf to dislodge a throw on third-and-9 and force a punt. The kick went in the end zone so Mullens and the offense will start at the 20-yard-line.

– 33-yard strike from Mullens to Aiyuk. That’s good work from San Francisco to hit a big play. Down 16 with 5:25 left they need to score quick.

– Third-and-9, there’s Bourne again. He crashed his way ahead for a pick up of 20.

– Wow. Now another touchdown. Ross Dwelley scores from 16 yards out. He made the catch inside the five, turned and dove in for the score. McKinnon made a catch and dove in for the two-point conversion, but he was touched down before he got in. That extinguishes San Francisco’s hopes for a comeback. Seahawks 30, 49ers 20

– A tough unnecessary roughness call on Jimmie Ward helped catalyze a game-sealing touchdown for Seattle. DeeJay Dallas again. Embarrassing look for the 49ers defense to give up a pair of scores to the fourth-string RB. Seahawks 37, 49ers 20

– Kendrick Bourne has a career-high eight receptions. He played a key role in another 49ers touchdown drive, but it was Brandon Aiyuk who hauled in the touchdown reception. Nice route from him and a good throw from Mullens. Seahawks 37, 49ers 27

– The onside kick doesn’t work, the Seahawks kneel it out. That was not good for San Francisco on multiple fronts.

FINAL SCORE: Seahawks 37, 49ers 27

49ers get another late score vs. Seahawks on Ross Dwelley’s 1st TD of 2020

Ross Dwelley made it a 30-20 game between the 49ers and Seahawks with his first score of the year.

The 49ers orchestrated a second touchdown drive without Jimmy Garoppolo or George Kittle. They trailed 30-14 and went 80 yards on six plays to make it 30-20 when Ross Dwelley scored on a 16-yard touchdown reception from Nick Mullens. The two-point conversion failed though and dramatically affected the 49ers’ chances for a comeback.

George Kittle exits to locker room vs. Seahawks

George Kittle hurt his ankle in the fourth quarter vs. the Seahawks and is questionable to return.

George Kittle became the latest 49er to suffer an injury. He exited to the locker room in the fourth quarter after hauling in a 25-yard reception between two defenders.

The catch was just Kittle’s second of the game, but he was hit and landed awkwardly. He immediately limped toward the sideline and sat on the bench.

A few plays later he joined quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the locker room.

He is officially ‘questionable’ with an ankle injury,  but with 10 minutes left in a blowout, it’s hard to imagine he returns.

49ers rule out RB Tevin Coleman with knee injury.

Tevin Coleman got three carries vs. the Seahawks before the 49ers ruled him out with a knee injury.

The 49ers have ruled out running back Tevin Coleman of the rest of Sunday’s game with a knee injury.

He missed the last five games with a knee sprain and got the start Sunday in his first game off Injured Reserve. He carried three times for 20 yards before exiting the game.

Coleman was initially listed as questionable to return in the second half, but quickly got downgraded to out.

WATCH: JaMycal Hasty scores 1st NFL touchdown

JaMycal Hasty’s first NFL touchdown came in the second quarter of the San Francisco 49ers game vs. the Seattle Seahawks.

The 49ers needed three tries to score from the 5-yard line, but undrafted rookie JaMycal Hasty finally got in for his first career touchdown. It capped an eight-minute, 75-yard drive to answer Seattle’s first touchdown of the game. The score put the 49ers ahead 7-6 in the second quarter at CenturyLink Stadium.
