49ers rookie RB Isaac Guerendo finds end zone vs. Bills

During Sunday Night Football against the Bills, Isaac Guerendo punched in his second touchdown of his rookie campaign.

With Christian McCaffrey ruled out for the remainder of the game with a knee injury, the San Francisco 49ers run game went through Jordan Mason and rookie Isaac Guerendo on Sunday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills.

With the 49ers trailing 28-3 in the second half, Guerendo helped get the 49ers on the board with a touchdown late in the third quarter. The rookie running back out of Louisville broke around the left side of the field for a 15-yard touchdown run.

Guerendo’s touchdown on Sunday marked the second touchdown of his rookie campaign. Guerendo has rushed the ball 38 times for 227 during his rookie season with the 49ers.

49ers injury update: DL Kevin Givens (chest) questionable to return vs. Bills

The 49ers defensive line depth will continue to be tested on Sunday Night Football against the Bills.

With the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive line already limited due to injuries, another key piece to the interior defensive line is dealing with an early injury against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football.

In the first half, defensive tackle Kevin Givens exited the game with a chest injury. After entering the blue medical tent in Buffalo and leaving the sideline for the locker room, Givens is officially listed as questionable due to a chest injury.

Via @49ers on Twitter:

If Givens is unavailable, the 49ers will lean Kalia Davis and Khalil Davis behind Maliek Collins and Evan Anderson in Buffalo on Sunday night.

49ers injury news: QB Brock Purdy officially active vs. Bills

Brock Purdy is officially back.

The San Francisco 49ers are extremely banged up going into their Week 13 showdown with the Buffalo Bills.

However, they will at least have starting quarterback Brock Purdy this week after he missed Week 12 with a shoulder injury. He was limited for Wednesday and Thursday’s practices before getting a full participation in Friday.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated Friday he expected Purdy to play, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday that Purdy made it through Saturday without any setbacks and would suit up against the Bills.

The 49ers made that official Sunday afternoon when Purdy was not among their list of inactive players.

Here’s who won’t suit up for San Francisco:

QB Brandon Allen (Emergency QB)
DE Nick Bosa (hip, oblique)
OT Trent Williams (ankle)
CB Deommodore Lenoir (knee)
LG Aaron Banks (concussion)
DT Jordan Elliott (concussion)
LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (knee)

Interestingly, Josh Dobbs is the backup signal caller for the first time with Purdy starting this season. That may be an indicator of some news things the 49ers can do with their run game if they elect to roll a more mobile QB on the field.

Cornerback Renardo Green (neck), defensive tackle Kevin Givens (groin) and wide receiver Chris Conley (knee) are all active after being listed as questionable.

49ers can play spoiler for Bills playoff chances

The San Francisco 49ers have slim playoff hopes of their own, but they can also play spoiler against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13.

The San Francisco 49ers saw their playoff chances plummet following consecutive losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.

While the 49ers are still technically in the playoff hunt, their season may be better defined by whether they can play spoiler for other teams. That’s what they’ll be aiming to do Sunday while also trying to keep their own playoff hopes on life support.

Buffalo has dominated a relatively weak AFC East and entered Week 13 with a simple clinching scenario. They needed the Miami Dolphins to lose to the Packers on Thanksgiving night. Green Bay handled business for Buffalo in that one, routing the Dolphins 30-17 at Lambeau Field.

Now the Bills can clinch the AFC East title and a playoff spot by knocking off the 49ers at Highmark Stadium on Sunday night.

While it’s all but a certainty the Bills will eventually wrap up the division, the 49ers should at least draw a little motivation from trying to keep it from happening against them. Not to mention their own slim playoff hopes revolve around winning some games they probably shouldn’t on paper. That starts Sunday in Buffalo where a win would improve the 49ers’ own postseason chances, and delay the Bills’ celebration for at least one more week.

49ers defense made wrong kind of history vs. Bills QB Josh Allen

Josh Allen couldn’t do anything wrong when the Buffalo Bills downed the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

[jwplayer AAM8ZmY0-ThvAeFxT]

It wasn’t hard to see what went wrong for the 49ers in Week 13. They got torched by a talented quarterback playing at an elite level. Bills quarterback Josh Allen did close to everything right in Buffalo’s 34-24 romp and put up an unprecedented performance against San Francisco.

Allen completed 32 of his 40 passes for 375 yards and four touchdowns Monday night at State Farm Stadium. According to Pro Football Reference’s database, Allen is only the second quarterback to ever throw for at least 375 yards and four touchdowns against the 49ers.

The only other instance came in Week 14 of the 1982 season when Dan Fouts lit up the defending Super Bowl champions for 444 yards and five touchdowns. Neither Allen nor Fouts threw an interception.

It’s hard to imagine Allen wouldn’t have eclipsed Fouts’ 444 yards and five TDs had the 49ers kept the game closer and forced a more explosive offensive output late in the game from the Bills. Allen did manage a higher completion rate at an eye-popping 80 percent on 40 throws. Fouts completed 68.8 percent on 48 attempts.

That wasn’t the bit of history the 49ers defense envisioned being a part of this season.

Observations from 49ers 34-24 loss to Bills

The San Francisco 49ers were outclassed by a bonafide Super Bowl contender in the Buffalo Bills.

The 49ers fell flat in Monday night’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. They got out to a fast start with a goal-line stand and an early score, but they were never able to get all the way on track in a 34-24 loss to the Bills.

Here is our running notebook from throughout the contest:

49ers fall flat on Monday Night Football, lose to Bills

The Buffalo Bills blew out the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

The 49ers needed a Week 13 win to tie for the No. 7 seed in the NFC. Their first “home” game in State Farm Stadium didn’t go well though and they were thoroughly dominated by a very good Bills club.

Here’s a quick recap.

Monday Night Football: Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers live stream, tv channel, start time, prediction, odds

The Buffalo Bills will meet the San Francisco 49ers on MNF from State Farm Stadium in the second game, stream all the action here.

In the second MNF game of the night, we have the Buffalo Bills taking on the San Francisco 49ers from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The site of the game was changed due to a mandate against contact sports in Santa Clara County in California.

The Bills are coming into this game winning four of their last five games and sitting at 8-3, leading the AFC East. Josh Allen has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 22 touchdowns this season with the help of Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley. Meanwhile, the 49ers are coming off a win over the Rams last week and have improved under Nick Mullens at QB.

This should be a fun one to watch with Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things. Tune in and find out, here is everything you need to know to stream the action tonight!

Prediction: The Buffalo Bills continue to be disrespected by the books in Vegas, giving this 8-3 team points after the way they’ve been playing is disrespectful. I’ll be rolling with the Bills in this one and make sure you get as many points as you can before pulling the trigger. They are simply the better team.

Bet: Buffalo Bills +1

Report: 49ers travel to Arizona to practice, prepare for Week 13

The 49ers on Wednesday will begin their long journey away from home to prepare for Monday Night Football vs. the Bills.

The 49ers’ long journey away from home will begin Wednesday. NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reported the team will leave Wednesday to begin preparations for their Monday night showdown with the Buffalo Bills at State Farm Stadium in Glendale Ariz.

San Diego was originally reported by NBC Sports Bay Area as another possible location for the team’s practices while they played their home games in the Cardinals’ home stadium.

New COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara County outlawed practices and games for contact sports, and didn’t provide an exemption for professional clubs. The restrictions went into effect Monday at 12:01 am Pacific Time. They’ll continue until 5:00 am Pacific Time on Monday, Dec. 21.

Part of the new rules also includes a 14-day quarantine for anyone traveling into the county from 150-plus miles away, so players and coaches likely won’t be able to head home at all between games. Their journey to Arizona will start a long trip that includes at least two home games at State Farm Stadium, a road game in Dallas and another road game against the Cardinals at their home field.

Whether the 49ers return to Levi’s Stadium for their Week 17 bout with the Seahawks remains to be seen.
