Texas loses 2026 running back commitment on Thursday

Texas loses 2026 four-star running back shortly after 2026 five-star QB Dia Bell commits.

Just days after landing one of the top quarterbacks of the 2026 recruiting cycle, the Texas Longhorns staff suffered a minor setback. On Thursday, it was announced that composite four-star running back Raycine Guillory Jr is backing off of his pledge.

Guillory of Aledo, Texas, originally committed to the Longhorns on Jan. 20 while attending ‘Junior Day’ on the Forty Acres. Since his pledge, the No. 16 running back of the 2026 class has picked up several major offers including the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Ole Miss Rebels.

This doesn’t preclude the Texas Longhorns from ultimately signing him in 2026 while he weighs all of his options. Guillory was the first commit of the 2026 cycle that now only includes five-star quarterback Dia Bell.

Texas is also looking at the No. 2 running back of the class, Tradarian Ball. He currently plays for Texas High in Texarkana. Javian Osborne of Forney, Texas, is ranked as the No. 5 running back and worth keeping an eye on should the Longhorns move on from Guillory.

Oklahoma Sooners offer No. 1 quarterback in 2026

The Oklahoma Sooners have offered arguably the top player in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

The Oklahoma Sooners have begun to identify more of their targets in the 2026 recruiting class. In the last week, they’ve issued a number of offers, including two at the quarterback position.

One of those was four-star quarterback Faizon Brandon out of North Carolina. The other one is also east of the Mississippi River in four-star quarterback Jared Curtis.

Curtis hails from Nashville, Tennessee and plays for Nashville Christian School. He’s the top quarterback in the cycle, according to 247Sports and the No. 1 player in their rankings at the moment.

He’s a talented passer with plus athleticism. Curtis does a great job maneuvering the pocket to buy time and is fantastic throwing the ball on the move. He has a fantastic arm with really good accuracy.

Curtis does a great job making plays with his legs and has really good contact balance when running the football.

He’s got an offer sheet that features a who’s who of college programs. Teams like Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, LSU, and Tennessee. At the moment, it looks like Georgia and Ohio State are the frontrunners in this massive recruiting battle.
