Could the New Orleans Saints draft a third Senior Bowl MVP in a row?

Could the New Orleans Saints look to draft a third Senior Bowl MVP in a row during the 2025 NFL draft? TCU wideout and Louisiana native Jack Bench is a star:

The New Orleans Saints have a long history of drafting players from the Senior Bowl, and this has been the case in recent years as well. In the last two offseasons, the Saints have selected back to back Senior Bowl MVPs in 2023 and 2024 with Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler respectively. Now, they may have the opportunity to select another in Jack Bech, who caught the game-winning touchdown in the 2025 Senior Bowl.

Bech tragically lost his brother Martin “Tiger” Bech during the Bourbon Street terror attack in New Orleans shortly on New Year’s Day. Martin was honored by the Senior Bowl committee as all players were wearing stickers on the back of their helmets with the number seven, and Princeton Tigers stripes, as he was a former wide receiver for the team. FOX Sports reporter Greg Auman had exceptional coverage throughout the week regarding this tragedy and how it has impacted Jack for those interested in reading more about the topic.

Jack Bech has had ties to Louisiana throughout his life. He’s a native of Lafayette and attendee of St. Thomas More Catholic High School, and a member of the LSU Tigers for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He transferred to play for the TCU Horned Frogs in 2023 and 2024.

2024 was a breakout for him as well, as he had 62 receptions for 1,034 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns, all career highs. With the Saints needing more wide receiver help, and a quality home-grown receiver prospect winning Senior Bowl MVP, he could be someone to take a look at as they put together their 2025 draft board.

Steelers may have found their next franchise WR in 2025 Senior Bowl

Jack Bech made a strong case for the Pittsburgh Steelers after his standout performance in the 2025 Senior Bowl.

One of the biggest question marks heading into the 2025 offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers is how to fix their wide receiver woes. The team failed to find production from their wide receivers not named George Pickens—and his future with the Steelers remains uncertain as trade speculation swirls.

With that in mind, the team will either need to hit a home run in the 2025 NFL Draft or sign a big-name free agent in the coming months—and the Steelers may have just found a solution tied to the former.

WR Jack Bech out of TCU was considered one of the better Day 2 or Day 3 receivers in this year’s draft class, and his performance in the 2025 Senior Bowl should have Steelers scouts foaming at the mouth.

Bech finished the day with six catches for 68 yards and a game-winning touchdown, ultimately being named the 2025 Senior Bowl MVP.

If the TCU receiver is available when the Steelers make their second-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, GM Omar Khan and HC Mike Tomlin will have the easiest decision in the world—bring Bech to the Steel City.

The 2025 NFL Draft takes place in Green Bay, Wisconsin from April 24-26.

Dolphins’ top 2025 draft prospects: TCU WR Jack Bech

Jack Bech is a sure-handed, skilled route runner who also takes pride in his tenacity as a blocker.

TCU wide receiver Jack Bech is a rising prospect after impressing at the 2025 Senior Bowl. A physical, multi-use receiver who excels in the blocking side of the position, Bech could be a perfect fit with Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel.

Bech has excellent hands and rarely drops passes — PFF credited him with only two in his last three collegiate seasons. He’s also a skilled route technician who consistently won his reps at the Senior Bowl, and may have shown enough to climb into the Day 2 mix.

In 2024, Bech caught 62 passes for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns.

Position: WR
Projected round: Round 3
Height: 6’1
Weight: 212

Fit for Miami

Bech’s ability and willingness to help in run blocking is a trait the Dolphins covet. The back end of Miami’s wide receiver last season was not very productive, and several players are set to become free agents this March, including River Cracraft and Braxton Berrios.

Bech could be a fine fourth receiver behind Jaylen Waddle, Malik Washington, and Tyreek Hill, should he remain in Miami.

Bottom line

Bech’s pride in blocking along with his reliable hands and crisp routes could be what separates him from other mid-round prospects.

“I’m big, physical, and nasty at the point of contact. I love running people into the ground when I’m blocking,” Bech told The Draft Network in January. “Obviously, I love scoring touchdowns, but I equally love dumping somebody into the dirt as a blocker”

That physicality is something Miami can use, and Bech could be in play for the Dolphins at the tail end of the third round. After his performance at the Senior Bowl, it’s probably unlikely that he’d be available in the fourth round, where Miami is expected to own a pair of picks.

7 standouts from Day 3 of 2025 Senior Bowl practices

In a spirited close to Senior Bowl practices, defensive players won the day.

The 2025 Senior Bowl practices are in the books.

While the annual college all-star game is still on the way, many of the NFL’s scouts, coaches, and decision makers will now head out of town as the practices are the part of the week that looms largest.

Here are seven players who stood out most in the last practice sessions of the week:

DL Landon Jackson (Arkansas)

Jackson certainly looks the part at a well-built 6’6, 273 pounds. But after an up-and-down first couple of days, the Razorbacks lineman started wreaking havoc Thursday.

In addition to some clear wins in one-on-ones, Jackson was a force in run defense during team drills.

DL Darius Alexander (Toledo)

Alexander didn’t arrive to Mobile as a well-known name, but the Toledo lineman opened some eyes. The 6’4, 304-pounder was remarkably quick and explosive for a player his size and found himself in the backfield often Thursday.

WR Tez Johnson (Oregon)

Johnson is the only player to appear on these standouts lists twice, but it’s almost impossible to understate how dominant the 5’9 receiver was on the practice field. Johnson was easily the toughest cover for defensive backs all week and found separation with ease, using his sharp route-running and lightning quick feet to leave defenders in the dust.

S Sebastian Castro (Iowa)

The Senior Bowl isn’t really a place where safeties typically shine. One-on-one coverage assignments are never easy for the position, as wide receivers and running backs are a bit too quick and tight ends are a bit too large to give safeties a chance to do well consistently.

Castro made it work, though. In team drills, he was always around the ball and in the right spot. In one-on-ones, Castro did pretty well against the talented group of National Team tight ends.

LB Shemar James (Florida)

Linebacker is another spot where it’s difficult to stand out in an all-star game, but James was probably the fastest at the position in Mobile and flew all over the field Thursday. He was especially impressive in coverage drills, where he locked down some elusive running backs in space.

EDGE Danny Striggow (Minnesota)

The Golden Gophers pass rusher played at the Hula Bowl and told ESPN that he call at 11 p.m. ET on Wednesday night that he had an opportunity to be added to the Senior Bowl roster. Striggow made the most of the abrupt opportunity, hopping on a pair of flights and arriving just in time to make some impressive plays in the last practice of the week.

EDGE Princely Umanmielen

For a player who’s 6’4, 264 pounds, Umanmielen showed remarkable bend and balance Thursday. The Ole Miss pass rusher, who began at Florida, recorded 34.5 tackles for loss in his last three collegiate seasons. In Mobile, he showed he has multiple moves and counters, and the body control to pull off a little bit of everything.

5 standouts from Day 2 of 2025 Senior Bowl practices

After several offensive linemen stood out Tuesday, it was a couple pass rushers’ turn to stand out Wednesday.

With Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier among the onlookers in Mobile, Ala. this week, the 2025 Senior Bowl practices rolled on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, several offensive lineman stood out on the practice field, which may have caught the eye of the linemen-needy Dolphins.

So who impressed most on Wednesday? Here are xxx players who made an impact on the practice field:

EDGE Mike Green (Marshall)

Green was highly productive with the Thundering Herd, racking up 22.5 tackles for loss and an FBS-leading 17 sacks. On Wednesday, he showed off the full bag of tricks, winning with his speed around the edge but also converting that burst into power.

Oregon offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr., who has been projected as a fringe first-round prospect, found out about Green’s abilities the hard way Wednesday.

WR Jayden Higgins (Iowa State)

The 6’4 wide receiver projects as an obvious red zone target due to his size, but Higgins has showed in Mobile that he offers more than just that. His quick feet have made him tough to cover off the line of scrimmage, and his vertical speed has created space on deep balls.

His precise routes underneath may be the most impressive work he’s done, though. Higgins looks like a receiver who can do a little bit of everything.

OL Jalen Travis (Iowa State)

Travis is another Cyclones alum who excelled in front of scouts, coaches, and decision makers Wednesday. The massive, 6’8 offensive tackle showed he was light enough on his feet to keep up with speed rushers and more than powerful enough to neutralize anyone he got his hands on.

CB Azareye’h Thomas (Florida State)

Thomas may be the first of the Senior Bowl cornerbacks to get drafted in April and he’s looked the part in Mobile. The 6’2 corner has faced tough tests with receivers Higgins, Jaylin Noel, and Tez Johnson on his squad, but Thomas has been up to the task with impressive athleticism to stay step for step with receivers.

EDGE Shemar Stewart (Texas A&M)

Like Chop Robinson last year, Stewart has all the measureables as a prospect, but not much production. In three seasons with the Aggies, he recorded only 4.5 sacks.

While the Dolphins probably won’t want another first-round edge rusher, Stewart is giving every indication that he could follow in Robinson’s footsteps and produce in the NFL.

Dolphins’ top 2025 draft prospects: Iowa State WR Jayden Higgins

Iowa State wide receiver Jayden Higgins has impressed at the 2025 Senior Bowl and could make for an interesting addition in Miami.

Iowa State wide receiver Jayden Higgins is a name to know for the Miami Dolphins. Higgins performed well at Senior Bowl practices and the 6’4 pass catcher is a natural “X” receiver on the outside who could be a huge problem in the slot for defenses.

“Although I do have a bigger body than most receivers, I’d say I’m still shifty and versatile,” Higgins told The Draft Network. “I’m 6’4, 215, but I can still play in the slot. I can play anywhere on the field. My versatility is exceptional. It helps me a lot.

“I could play wherever the team needs me to play. I just want to help the offense.”

Higgins had a superb 2024 season, one of the best in Iowa State history. He finished with 87 receptions, 1,183 yards, and nine touchdowns to earn Third Team All-American honors.

Position: WR
Projected round: Round 3
Height: 6’4
Weight: 215

Fit for Miami

Higgins uses his big-bodied frame and his basketball experience to get position, which makes him a formidable target anywhere on the field, especially in the red zone. The Miami-native could fit very well in a receiving room that would benefit from adding size.

The Dolphins have several free agents at the position and ambiguity on the future of star receiver Tyreek Hill, so adding another running-mate for Jaylen Waddle would be a wise move.

Even if Hill remains in Miami, Waddle and 2024 rookie Malik Washington are the only other viable receivers under contract for the Dolphins heading into the 2025 offseason. Miami can’t afford to dish out much money to a very top-heavy free agent class, headlined by names like Tee Higgins and Stefon Diggs.

The 2025 NFL draft that features several Day 2 or early Day 3 options that would be better investments at receiver, including Jayden Higgins.

Bottom Line

The Dolphins could use more red-zone receiving threats beyond tight end Jonnu Smith and the overall scoring ability of running back De’Von Achane. With or without Hill, adding Higgins would be worthwhile investment even if he needs a year of development with only timely usage as a rookie.

Higgins has all the tools and the intelligence to pick up the playbook and be a starter eventually. A potential trio of Higgins, Waddle, and Washington in the near future could work wonders for Miami. Thanks to his Senior Bowl reps, Higgins could creep into Day 2 territory come April.

Jahri Evans discusses Saints staff changes and coaching the Senior Bowl

Jahri Evans could become a Hall of Famer next week, but for now he’s busy representing the Saints as a coach at the Senior Bowl:

Jahri Evans is a busy man. The New Orleans Saints assistant offensive line coach is working at the Senior Bowl this week, and next week he’ll learn whether or not he’s going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Beyond that, he’ll have to see if the new Saints coaching staff has room for him. Evans was asked about the upcoming changes and the ongoing search for a head coach, which caught him by surprise.

“Oh, wow I wasn’t expecting that,” Evans told reporters after Senior Bowl practice on Tuesday. “Honestly, I wasn’t even thinking about it, y’know I’m here trying to do as much as I can for these guys. Like I told them in the meeting, I’m here to sharpen the tools in their toolbox and add things to their toolbox. I think back home in New Orleans, that situation will handle itself, and when it does I’m pretty sure I have an opportunity to stay.”

When asked if he feels like the team will keep him around, Evans replied, “I hope so. I don’t know, this is my first go around with it. The team hasn’t had change in almost 20 years at the head position, right, so I think its a lot of people’s first go around with it in the building. I’m here now representing the Saints, and my job is to get my notes on these guys, help these guys be better. As long as I’m employed, I’ll still be working.”

When it comes down to it, this quote sounds like he has the opportunity to stay, which is an enormous positive as he has been a great addition to the staff and may be worth looking at for a promotion in the near future. Of all the assistants and positional coaches on the team, there are a few who are worthy of staying, and Evans is no doubt one of them.
