Ohio State football has more first-round picks than Georgia, Alabama combined in 2025 NFL Mock Draft

The Ohio State Buckeyes have more projected first-round picks than both Georgia and Alabama per USA Today’s most recent 2025 NFL mock draft.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have a few of the most talented players in the country.

From Caleb Downs to Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State has skilled players on both sides of the ball. Despite those two not being able to be drafted in 2025, Ohio State has numerous top players that’ll head to the NFL after this season.

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, who is a columnist for USA Today, released an updated 2025 NFL mock draft. He has four Ohio State players being taken in the first round. Just to note how impressive that is, Alabama doesn’t have a single pick and Georgia has just three first-round picks.

As for which players are selected and where, the below is the list of Buckeyes taken, and Middlehurst-Schwartz in the link above gives a short snippet on each as well.

  • WR Emeka Egbuka – No. 13 to the Cincinnati Bengals
  • DE JT Tuimoloau – No. 25 to the Washington Commanders
  • OT Josh Simmons – No. 26 to the Baltimore Ravens
  • DL Tyleik Williams – No. 32 to the Kansas City Chiefs

With three of those four coming on the line, the Buckeyes have had a significant edge for most of the season in the trenches. Let’s just say all the Buckeyes have been having success as of late.

Expect that to continue as they battle Northwestern, Indiana and then Michigan prior to ideally taking part in the Big Ten Championship Game and then in the College Football Playoff.

Bengals gamble, get Joe Burrow help in 2025 NFL mock draft

The Bengals ignore the defense and get Joe Burrow another weapon.

The Cincinnati Bengals remain in the playoff hunt despite the miserable record and falling short of expectations.

But that doesn’t mean fans can’t glance at 2025 NFL mock drafts yet.

In that realm of NFL coverage, they will find plenty of mocks that get the defense some help, whether it’s along the struggling line or in the secondary.

But a select few go ahead and give Joe Burrow another weapon, too.

Take, for instance, a new mock from The Draft Network’s Keith Sanchez, who has the Bengals grabbing Michigan tight end Colston Loveland:

Since Joe Burrow became the quarterback of the Bengals, the tight end position has been a revolving door. This year, the Bengals take a swing at finding a player who could be their long-term solution at tight end in Michigan’s Colston Loveland. Loveland has high-level athletic traits that make him a mismatch for both linebackers and safeties. As the Bengals figure out which superstar receivers they’re going to pay, they draft a high-end tight end to help solidify the offense and clear up the picture.

Quietly, tight end is a bigger need than it gets credit for right now in Cincinnati now that rookie Erick All Jr. has suffered another injury. Veteran Mike Gesicki is on a one-year deal, too.

A 6’5″ weapon like Loveland would certainly help the offense and life after Tee Higgins could prove to be rough, should it happen. But this type of pick would prevent the defense from getting some much-needed help, too.

If nothing else, though, it’s one scenario to keep an eye on from here.

Indianapolis Colts midseason 2025 NFL mock draft roundup

At the halfway point of the Indianapolis Colts’ season, let’s take a look at who the draft experts have them taking in 2025 NFL mock drafts.

With still eight games left to play, is it too early to be looking ahead to who the Indianapolis Colts could select in the 2025 NFL draft? Probably. But we are going to do it anyway.

Of course, the caveat to all of this is that with there still being several months before the actual draft takes place, a lot is going to change.

Depending on how the remainder of the season unfolds for the Colts, along with what takes place in free agency, team needs can certainly evolve. In addition to that, draft prospects will move up and down draft boards depending on what happens over the remainder of the college season and how each player performs during the pre-draft process.

But with that said, when it comes to current needs that very well could be on the Colts’ radar in 2025, cornerback and safety help is still likely to be high on the priority list. Also needing to be addressed is the tight end position, along with running back and defensive tackle depth.

So, with all of that in mind, let’s take a look at who the draft experts have the Indianapolis Colts taking in the very early portion of the pre-draft process.

Bleacher Report Scouting Department

Bengals tackle need they failed to add at deadline in new mock draft

The Bengals right some wrongs in a new mock draft.

The Cincinnati Bengals made an in-season trade for just the second time in the last 50 years. Getting to 4-5 gave them some hope for the playoffs and with Zack Moss getting injured, the Bengals had a need for another running back behind Chase Brown. They filled that need by acquiring Khalil Herbert from the Chicago Bears.

Where the Bengals didn’t make a move that some thought they would was along the defensive line, particularly pass rush. Trey Hendrickson leads the league with 11 sacks. The flip side is no other Bengal has more than two. As a result, the Bengals are tied for the fifth-fewest sacks in the league with 17. For context, the Giants lead the league with 35.

Fortunately for the Bengals, future help can come via the draft. Bleacher Report recently did a new mock draft for 2025 following the trade deadline and gave the Bengals some defensive front help. At pick No. 13, the Bengals took Walter Nolen, defensive lineman from Ole Miss.

Here’s what the B/R Scouting Department wrote about the pick:

B.J. Hill has played well. Otherwise, the rest of Cincinnati’s defensive tackles are marginal. Additionally, fellow starter Sheldon Rankins is set to be a free agent after this season.

Another talented body for the middle of the defense could go a long way toward making this group far more effective. Ole Miss’ Walter Nolen may be the nation’s most explosive defensive tackle. Going into this past weekend, the Texas A&M transfer ranked among college football’s best defensive tackles in pass-rush win rate against true pass sets.

With Nolen, Hill, Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard, Cincinnati would be able to win one-on-one matchups across the entire defensive front and make like far more difficult on opposing quarterbacks when the Bengals establish a lead.

Steelers land offensive gamebreaker in new 2025 NFL mock draft

This new mock draft hits the mark for the Steelers.

If the 2025 NFL draft were today, there’s no doubt the Pittsburgh Steelers would be tempted to target a wide receiver in the first round. Pittsburgh has tried and failed to land a receiver so far this offseason so it only makes sense if nothing happens there will be action at wide receiver in the offseason.

ESPN’s Jordan Reid has a new mock draft out and he took that same approach and gave the Steelers one of our favorite prospects in the entire draft in Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond. Here’s what Reid had to say about the pick:

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves at 4-2 and atop the AFC North despite some real problems on the roster. Looking ahead to the end of the season, there are going to be multiple spots

No matter who is under center, Pittsburgh has to find more playmaking beyond George Pickens. The speedy and dynamic Bond has flashed this season after transferring from Alabama. He’s not only capable of winning downfield, but he can also turn underneath plays into big gains. He forces defenses to respect his vertical speed and has four scores this season.

There are several elite receivers in this upcoming draft but Bond is the guy we like the most for the Steelers as a guy who can do a little of everything.

Browns land a new bodyguard in new mock draft

Offensive tackle will remain a priority for the Browns to address in the draft.

In a new 2025 NFL mock draft, the Cleveland Browns land a new protector along the offensive line in Texas’ right tackle Cameron Williams.

The most recent mock draft is currently on NFL Draft on SI and has the Browns addressing the offensive line with the 17th overall pick in the draft. Among many explosive picks in the 2025 NFL mock draft, the one we are all paying attention to is who the Cleveland Browns are selecting.

The prime protector for Quinn Ewers and currently Arch Manning has been tremendous to start his season and is one of the cornerstone players for the nation’s top-ranked team. No matter who is at quarterback for the Longhorns, there is sure to be protection for their two-star gunslingers.

This would be a tremendous addition for the Browns after they have battled both tackle and quarterback injuries in the last few seasons. Assuring protection for your quarterback and All-Pro running back Nick Chubb is one of the main priorities in Cleveland. This would not only help immediately but assure protection for the future.

Browns projected to replace Deshaun Watson in new 2025 NFL mock draft

Could the Browns really use their first top-32 pick in three years on another quarterback?

In one of their first mock drafts, after the regular season has kicked off, The Draft Network has made a bold prediction for the Cleveland Browns. The mock draft currently has the Browns selecting Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the sixteenth overall pick to replace current quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Cam Ward is currently on a tear to begin his Miami career and is considered the NCAA’s best passer in the season’s first three weeks.

The display Deshaun Watson has presented on the field so far has failed to show promise despite his decent record as a starter. He currently has fifteen touchdowns and eleven interceptions in his three years as a Cleveland Brown. This has led to many questions about when the Browns will hit the reset button on the quarterback position.

If a player as talented as Cam Ward is available at such a great value, it would be hard for Andrew Berry to let him pass.

Georgia Bulldog player goes No. 1 overall in 2025 NFL mock draft

Four Georgia football standouts go in first round of 2025 NFL mock draft

CBS writer Josh Edwards released his first 2025 NFL mock draft on Thursday (Sept. 5). Edwards has Georgia Bulldogs defensive end Mykel Williams going No. 1 to the New England Patriots in the 2025 NFL draft.

Williams would land in a perfect situation, becoming the leading pass rusher for the Patriots, who just traded Matt Judon to the Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots’ only former Georgia Bulldog is center David Andrews, so Williams could be New England’s latest first-round pick from Georgia.

Three other Georgia Bulldogs were selected in the first round of his mock draft, including Georgia quarterback Carson Beck.

Carson Beck, 6th, Las Vegas Raiders

With this selection, Beck would reunite with his best pass-catcher ever, tight end Brock Bowers. He would be the highest quarterback taken by the Raiders since JaMarcus Russell, but his situation with the Raiders would be solid. He would have both Bowers and Davante Adams to throw to along with a running game led by former Bulldog Zamir White and a coach that led the Raiders to a 5-4 record as an interim.

Brett Patzke-USA TODAY Sports

Malaki Starks: 23rd, Dallas Cowboys

Starks is the No. 1 safety prospect according to CBS. He’d find himself in a decent landing spot with Dallas. They have a few safeties that are solid, but Starks would be an upgrade.

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Jalon Walker: 24th, Green Bay Packers

The Packers already have a bunch of Georgia Bulldogs on their roster, all on the defense. Walker would join linebacker Quay Walker in the linebacker corps, and Green Bay could use more of Georgia’s national championship experience.

Colts select safety in ESPN’s way too early 2025 NFL mock draft

In a way too early 2025 NFL mock draft from ESPN, the Colts address the safety position in the first round.

It’s always mock draft season, even with training camp in full swing and roster cuts looming. In a recent way too early look ahead to the 2025 NFL draft, ESPN’s Field Yates had the Colts getting some needed help at safety.

In this mock draft, the Colts held the 14th overall selection and took Malaki Starks from Georgia.

Starks is listed at 6-1, 205 pounds, and is a very good athlete who can wear different hats on the back end of the Colts’ defense. In two seasons with Georgia up to this point, Starks has mostly played free safety, but does have slot and box experience as well–totaling over 300 snaps at each of those positions.

During those two seasons, Starks has been a sound tackler, missing only eight of his 130 total attempts, according to PFF. Entering his third collegiate seasons, Starks is an ascending player with his play across the board improving from 2022 to 2023.

This past year, his completion percentage when targeted plummeted to just 51 percent. He allowed only 11.1 yards per catch, had increased ball production and the opposing quarterbacks’ collective passer rating dipped to only 61.6.  In addition to all of that, by PFF’s metrics, Starks was also one of the better run defenders at the safety position in 2023.

Here is a snippet of what Yates had to say about Starks in his mock draft:

“Starks has incredible range and instincts, allowing him to play snaps as a deep middle-of-the-field defender. But he also has the power, run-game willingness and force to play as an in-the-box safety. And Starks’ tape shows he can handle slot coverage over tight ends and even some wideouts thanks to his elite play speed.”

Many thought that the Colts should have addressed the safety position this past offseason after inconsistent play in 2023. However, no outside additions were made.

With training camp nearing an end, while Nick Cross seems to be the front-runner for the starting spot next to Julian Blackmon, overall, little clarity has been gained up to this point, with this position group still facing plenty of unknowns.

Next offseason, those both short and long-term concerns are still likely to be there. Blackmon will again be a free agent, as will Ronnie Harrison while Nick Cross and Rodney Thomas will each have just one year left on his rookie deals at that point.

Patriots agree to mega trade for No. 1 overall pick in latest 2025 mock draft

The Patriots pull off a blockbuster trade in the latest 2025 NFL mock draft

Mock drafts for the 2025 NFL draft are already in full swing, and ESPN’s Field Yates has the New England Patriots making a shake-up at the top of the draft board.

Yates has the Patriots owning the No. 1 overall pick and trading it to the New York Giants. The entire trade package wasn’t revealed, but one of the picks would be the Giants’ No. 6 pick in 2025. Yates has the Patriots using that pick to select Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, while the Giants take Georgia quarterback Carson Beck at No. 1.

Johnson is one of the best corners in all of college football and coming off a 2023 season that saw him tally 27 tackles and four interceptions. He won the National Championship Game Defensive MVP award last season, as the Wolverines defeated the Washington Huskies.

Yates broke down his reasoning for the pick in further detail on Wednesday:

I’d say New England is more likely to address offensive tackle than cornerback next spring, but I’m just not convinced enough on the class’s second-best left tackle in my early tape study to go that direction and pass up Johnson. To that end, LSU’s Will Campbell could certainly enter the mix, but Johnson would provide a mix of need and value. Johnson has lockdown-corner potential in the pros. His size (6-2, 202 pounds), efficient movement skills and physicality scream NFL star, and he would tag-team with Christian Gonzalez to form a lethal duo. Johnson has seven interceptions over two seasons.

This could be a divisive pick considering the dire need right now at the offensive tackle position.

The Patriots do have weapons in the secondary, but they could use youth at the positional unit. At least on paper, this wouldn’t be a bad selection by any stretch of the imagination.
