2025 NFL draft: Giants currently slated to select 4th overall

If the season were to end today (and we know it doesn’t), the New York Giants would select fourth overall in the 2025 NFL draft.

Things have become so sad and miserable for the New York Giants that they somehow managed to lose during their bye week.

No, the Giants obviously didn’t drop a game during their short hiatus, but they did see their 2025 NFL draft stock worsen a bit. That’s because many of the teams they needed to win (or lose) did the exact opposite, costing them two spots. At least for now.

With the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Las Vegas Raiders all falling flat and taking a loss, the Giants dropped from the No. 2 overall pick to the No. 4 overall pick, per Tankathon.

The good news? There is still plenty of time left for the Giants to launder and climb back up the draft board but if the season were to end today, they’d be in a bad spot.

Here’s a look at the current top 10:

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9)
  2. Tennessee Titans (2-8)
  3. Cleveland Browns (2-8)
  4. New York Giants (2-8)
  5. Las Vegas Raiders (2-8)
  6. New England Patriots (3-8)
  7. New York Jets (3-8)
  8. Carolina Panthers (3-7)
  9. Dallas Cowboys (3-7)
  10. New Orleans Saints (4-7)

After benching quarterback Daniel Jones, it is presumed the Giants will seek a new signal-caller at the top of the draft. But if they remain at No. 4, they will need to dump additional assets in the hopes of moving up to a more prime position.

2025 NFL Draft Order: Cowboys in Top 10, unless then win vs Houston

A look at the range of draft positions Dallas could have after MNF in Week 11.

With just one game remaining on the NFL slate of games for Week 11 there are clearly four classes of franchises. There’s a gooey middle of two tiers: teams that are currently in playoff position and teams that have a chance to get their. The top tier, are teams with realistic Super Bowl dreams. Clubs such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings have separated themselves from the pack.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the fourth tier, there’s a gluttony of teams with no realistic shot of postseason glory. Those teams are in a reverse race. Not actively trying to lose, but realistically these teams’ futures are better served by having better draft positioning.

That’s the group the Dallas Cowboys sit in as they prepare to take on the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.

Currently, after the results of Sunday’s games, Dallas is sitting with the 9th pick in the first round thanks to a 3-6 record. Depending on the results of the contest, that could all change.

With a loss, Dallas stays put at No. 9. The only team with a 3-7 record, the Carolina Panthers, have a much worse Strength of Schedule than Dallas. That’s the tiebreaker when it comes to draft order; not head to head, or conference record or any of the things that matter for playoff tiebreakers.

The Panthers’ SOS currently sits at .489 while Dallas is at .523.

If the Cowboys pull off the home upset and improve to 4-6, they will likely slide down to the No. 13 pick.

There are two teams with 4-7 records (New Orleans, Cincinnati) and another three with 4-6 records. Dallas has a better SOS than Miami (.433) and Tampa Bay (.517), and a worse one than Chicago (.557) thanks to the power of the NFC North this season.

Ashton Jeanty’s historic season cementing him as top RB draft pick

Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty keeps running to new records and running away from the pack as the top RB prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft

The story of Boise State’s electric running back Ashton Jeanty has been one of dominance and some unreal performances. As the numbers continue to stack up on what has to be considered one of the best seasons of all time, NFL teams are surely taking notice of the back’s incredible talent and historic performance.

The numbers for Jeanty jump off the screen, averaging an absurd 7.7 yards per carry on the season. Jeanty has already surpassed 1,800 scrimmage yards and 24 touchdowns with two more games remaining in the regular season. It wouldn’t be shocking at all to see Jeanty eclipse the 2,500 yards by the end of the year as he continues to be the engine of a dominant Boise State offense that has its eyes set on the playoffs.

Jeanty’s speed, explosiveness, elite balance, vision, and power puts him in the ranks of some of the elite running back prospects we have seen in the last decade in Bijan Robinson and Saquon Barkley. Jeanty is going to be a feature piece in the NFL the moment he steps on the field and he should find himself going within the first 10 picks of the 2025 NFL Draft.

New Orleans Saints among teams in attendance for Georgia vs. Tennessee game

The New Orleans Saints were among the many teams in attendance for Saturday’s game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers.:

The New Orleans Saints were just one of many teams represented at Saturday’s Southeastern Conference clash between the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers and the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs.

In addition to New Orleans, there were also scouts in attendance for the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears.

Who exactly the Saints are looking at here could be anyone’s guess, and is obviously impossible to provide a definitive answer for. And especially when it comes down to a pair of programs that both put first-rounders in the NFL — something Georgia does every year and will continue to do in 2025.

Among the most major prospects to watch for the 2025 cycle include quarterback Carson Beck, defensive back Malaki Starks and defensive lineman Mykel Williams, just to name a handful.

It will be interesting to see what happens come April with the college football regular season beginning to wind down and the 2025 NFL draft closer than it appears.

Georgia and Tennessee remain tied at 17-17 at the half, but the Bulldogs pulled away in a 31-17 win. The Saints have drafted players from both schools in recent years, most notably Alvin Kamara and Alontae Taylor from Tennessee, so they could have been eyeing the next member of the black and gold at this SEC showdown.

Shedeur Sanders cements himself as top QB in 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders cements himself as top QB in 2025 NFL Draft with a commanding performance against Utah

It was yet another elite performance on the season for Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes offense as he showed the ability once again to direct and dominate at every level of the quarterback position. This has been a theme all season long for Sanders, who continues to show why he is one of the best prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Sanders was near perfect on Saturday against the Utah Utes in what was ultimately a complete blowout. Sanders posted 30 completions on 41 attempts, 340 yards, and 3 passing touchdowns in a surgical-like performance for the young star. While Sanders did have an interception at the start of the game from a tipped ball, he was darn near flawless after that point, leading his team to a dominant win, which puts the Buffaloes closer to the playoffs.

Throughout the year, Sanders has shown all the makings of an NFL-caliber signal caller. With an elite football IQ, top-level accuracy, solid arm strength, and a continuing progression in his mastery of the position, Sanders is clearly the top quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft at this point.

Carson Beck shows off mobility, silences critics in 31-17 win over Tennessee

Carson Beck silenced his doubters and supposed “falling draft stock” in the 31-17 win over Tennessee.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was asked one of the most ridiculous questions of the season in a press conference in the week preceding the Tennessee game: would he consider a change at quarterback over Carson Beck?

His response was simple.

“Absolutely not (have we considered a change),” Smart said. “We’ve got the quarterback we’ve got, who’s completely competent, capable and understanding of our system that gives us the best chance to win.”

That question asked sounds even more laughable Saturday after Georgia’s dominant 31-17 win over No. 6 Tennessee. There was some back and forth at first, but there was no need for the “Cardiac Dawgs” to get a last-minute victory.

The outcome the Bulldogs were after was on ice for more than just a small while.

It was also Beck’s best game of the season as he rose to the occasion in an essential must-win game to stay in the College Football Playoff race. He took it upon himself to give an emotional speech to the team ahead on Monday ahead of the game.

“I stood up in front of the team on Monday and just kind of talked to them about how I felt about how our season’s gone,” Beck said. “Whatever has happened has happened. And that all we can control is what he can control moving forward.”

Beck backed up his talk by finishing out a complete game 25-for-40 passing for 347 yards with two passing touchdowns and one rushing score.

It marked his first touchdown on the ground of the season, with his last one coming against the Alabama Crimson Tide in last year’s SEC title game.

Allowing Beck to use his mobility and improvisation ability more — two things he brings to the table that are slightly hidden away in his toolbox at times — was in the game plan and incredibly important in the absence of star running back Trevor Etienne.

“We had a couple plays where it was a designed quarterback run, which I don’t know if we’ve ever done for me ever,” Beck said. “So, I was kind of excited coming into the week because when I was in high school,  I was a dual-threat, and so I would just like to let everyone know that.”

Being able to let loose on the ground is something Beck has been pushing Smart on for some time now. And the head coach finally let him go with the wheels on Saturday.

It paid dividends.

“I kept telling coach that I’m a dual-threat and that I can run if he needs me to and he doesn’t ever let me run. But he did let me run tonight a little bit so that’s fun.”

All jokes aside, despite the way Beck has fallen among media analysts in terms of draft stock, it’s clear he’s still got the interest and respect of the coaching staff around him, his teammates and NFL scouts.

That’s all that matters at the end of the day.

“Carson carries himself well,” Smart said after the game. “I’ve been very consistent, even with some of the dumbest questions in the world about out our quarterback, because we see him every day. He gets judged on outcomes and stats, but we don’t judge based on that.”

Smart is confident Beck gives the Bulldogs the strongest shot at going all the way.

“I’m never going to falter on what I see with my eyes. What I see with eyes is a guy that is really good on the pocket. He’s got poise, he’s got composure. He puts us in the right play over and over again and makes good decisions.”

Beck and the Bulldogs will continue their run in the race to the College Football Playoff with just two regular-season matchups left against UMass and Georgia Tech.

Michigan DT Mason Graham named a ‘best fit’ for Giants

Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham has been named a “best fit” for the New York Giants in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL draft.

The New York Giants are currently slated to select second overall in the 2025 NFL draft and expectations are that they’ll lean quarterback and finally replace Daniel Jones.

But not everyone is sold on the upcoming quarterback class and some even believe the Giants would be better served by selecting a different position of need.

Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report is one of those people, suggesting general manager Joe Schoen should target Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham.

The idea of pairing Dexter Lawrence with Graham is downright frightening. Lawrence is already the game’s best interior defender, with the ability to completely take over games. The same applies to Graham at the collegiate level.

Graham currently ranks as Bleacher Report’s No. 2 overall prospect. He’s a disruptive 3-technique, with the strength and quickness to consistently reset the line of scrimmage.

As a result, the Giants can dominate the line of scrimmage and build the entire squad’s identity around their defensive front.

The Giants have been especially weak along the defensive interior when Lawrence is off the field. Opposing offenses routinely attack inside until Sexy Dexy returns, and that weakness has become increasingly glaring over the past several weeks.

Graham would match need with value, but can the Giants really afford to pass on a quarterback? Even if the overriding belief is that the 2026 quarterback class will be better than the 2025 class, there’s no guarantee general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll can hang onto their jobs that long.

However, if the Giants were able to find a talented bridge quarterback in free agency — Sam Darnold, perhaps — adding Graham to the defense and snagging a quarterback in 2026 might be the best-case scenario.

Of course, there are precious few fans out there who are willing to be that patient at this point. Can you blame them?

Giants’ Joe Schoen scouted Colorado-Utah

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen scouted Colorado-Utah on Saturday, while scouts took in several other games.

The New York Giants were again on the road over the weekend, hard at work scouting some of the top NCAA schools and players during a much-needed Week 11 bye.

General manager Joe Schoen was back on the ground, this time taking in Colorado-Utah, where quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter put on a show.

Local and national scouts were also spread out across the county as the team gathered data in preparation for the 2025 NFL draft.

Here’s a quick look at some of the games where the Giants had a confirmed scouting presence:

Colorado vs. Utah

Georgia vs. Tennessee

Florida vs. LSU

Notre Dame vs. Virginia

Chiefs scouting report: Oregon Ducks DE Jordan Burch

Oregon #Ducks defensive end Jordan Burch could be on the Kansas City #Chiefs’ radar in the 2025 NFL draft.

Pass rushers who win with both power and finesse succeed in the NFL. Burch brings those elements to the table and offers the Kansas City Chiefs the depth they desperately need along the defensive front. The Oregon product projects as a top 100 selection in the 2025 NFL draft.

According to Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy, Oregon Ducks defensive end Jordan Burch’s verified height and weight are 6’4 3/8″, 294 lbs. He doesn’t have great arm length, but that’s the only knock against his physical profile. Burch is a densely built, high motor player with freakish power and explosiveness.

According to Bruce Feldman for The Athletic, Burch squats and sumo deadlifts 685 lbs. and reaches a top speed of 20.75 miles per hour. Those traits show up on tape. It’s not every day you see a defensive end cutback to make a tackler miss on a 36-yard fake punt run.

Burch’s power rush moves include long-arms, humps, forklifts and converting speed to power. He unlocks the power to walk offensive tackles into the pocket or blow the B-gap open by knocking the lineman off balance.

Burch’s pass rush plan also includes swims, inside spins, chops, rips and a developmental ghost move. He doesn’t have elite bend but still turns the corner well for a defender his size. Burch sets up his pass rush moves with tempo, footwork and feints. His closing burst helps him finish plays once he gets past the offensive lineman.

Burch doesn’t play to his size consistently in the run game. His lack of arm length pops up in this part of the game, and his base suffers from some failures when anchoring at the point of attack.

Oregon goes on the road to play the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CST before finishing their season at home against the Washington Huskies on Nov. 30. Wisconsin’s offensive tackles, Riley Mahlman and Jack Nelson, struggled earlier this year but are playing better now. Both possess NFL tools and talent as Day 3 prospects.

Chiefs scouting report: Boston College Eagles OLB Donovan Ezeiruaku

The Kansas City #Chiefs could target Boston College outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku in the 2025 NFL draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs built one of the NFL’s premier defensive units but still struggle to generate pressure outside of contributions from Chris Jones and George Karlaftis. General manager Brett Veach should consider selecting a pass rusher with a top 100 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Boston College linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku is a bendy, fluid and versatile pass rusher with an undersized frame. He’s not densely put together but possesses the long arms to meet the NFL’s thresholds. Ezeiruaku is an explosive and sudden athlete with excellent bend to tighten his rush angles to the quarterback. He plays low enough to the ground to slip under the offensive tackle’s hands and avoid taking on unnecessary contact.

Ezeiruaku needs to add counters to his pass rush plan but already knows a good variety of moves. He primarily wins with cross-chops, ghosts, inside swims, rips, spins and two-handed swipes. Ezeiruaku takes advantage of offensive tackles oversetting by firing through the B-gap for quick pressures.

Ezeiruaku lacks the raw power to stack and shed blockers who are pushing vertically but uses his agility and burst to evade offensive linemen and quickly close on ball carriers. He moves like an off-ball linebacker in space with his ability to redirect and mirror running backs. Offensive players can’t shake Ezeiruaku in space, and he uses his speed and excellent pursuit range to chase down players.

Ezeiruaku should ace the speed and agility tests in the pre-draft process, but evaluators could drop him down draft boards because of size concerns. His draft range begins in the second round and extends to the top of the third round.

Three games remain on Boston College’s schedule. The Eagles travel to Dallas to face the 8-1 SMU Mustangs on Saturday at 2:30 p.m CST.
