All-purpose athlete Jeremiah Jones commits to Nebraska

All-purpose athlete Jeremiah Jones announced on Monday afternoon he is coming to Nebraska.

The Nebraska football team started July off with another three-star commitment. All-purpose athlete Jeremiah Jones announced on Monday afternoon he is coming to Lincoln.

Jones made his commitment following a visit to campus in June, which included a fishing trip with legendary Nebraska head coach Tom Osborne. Jones says he chose Nebraska because of how the Huskers kept strong connections with him throughout the recruiting process.

From Day 1, the effort that they put in to stay in touch with me was crucial. They didn’t just say it, they showed why they believed in me as a player. The whole defensive staff came to see me. They just showed me constant love. Nebraska is where I want to spend my college career and grow as a student-athlete.

Jones is entering his senior year at Murray High School in Murray, Kentucky, following a versatile junior season. The three-star athlete plays both sides of the ball for the Tigers and nearly every core group.

Jones, as a junior, caught 22 passes for 326 yards, completed 54 passes for 643 yards, rushed the ball 62 times for 326 yards, and scored six total touchdowns. On defense, he totaled 140 tackles and seven interceptions over the last two seasons.

Jones is listed at 6-feet-5, 215 pounds. He chose Nebraska over Kentucky, Louisville,, and Florida State. He represents Nebraska’s 14th commitment in its 2025 recruiting class, which is ranked in the top 40 nationally.

Husker football lands three-star lineman Houston Kaahaaina-Torres

Houston Kaahaaina-Torres announced on social media that he is committing to Nebraska.

The Nebraska football team earned another big 2025 recruit as June concludes, almost two months before the start of the 2024 season. Houston Kaahaaina-Torres announced on social media that he is committing to Nebraska.

Kaahaaina-Torres made his decision after visiting Nebraska on June 21. The three-star lineman stands at 6-feet-3 and 290 pounds and is the No. 1 player in the state of Hawaii.

Kaahaaina-Torres has played varsity for St. Louis High School in Honolulu since his freshman year. He chose Nebraska over Arizona State, California, and Michigan State. He also received offers from Utah, Colorado, and Brigham Young.

This is the second straight year Nebraska landed the top recruit in Hawaii. The Huskers signed Preston Taumua from Waipahu (Hawaii) as part of the 2024 recruiting class last year. Kaahaaina-Torres is the 13th commit in Nebraska’s class and the second offensive line commit, joining three-star offensive tackle Brian Tapu, who committed to the Huskers on Thursday.

Nebraska LB target Dawson Merritt commits to Alabama

One of Nebraska’s top defensive targets committed to Alabama on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Nebraska’s top linebacker target Dawson Merritt, a consensus four-star prospect out of Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas, officially committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The decision doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as experts around the recruiting industry have been projecting Merritt to land with the Crimson Tide over the last week.

That being said, Merritt was a top target for Matt Rhule and his defensive staff and is a tough hit for the Huskers on the recruiting trail.

Merritt took an official visit to Nebraska in April, but the Crimson Tide had the last say in his recruitment when they hosted him earlier in June for an official visit in Tuscaloosa.

Despite the loss on the recruiting trail, the Huskers are putting together a well-rounded 2025 recruiting class. They currently hold 11 commitments, including notable commitments from quarterback TJ Lateef, running back Jamarion Parker, and defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson.

One of Nebraska’s top targets in the 2025 recruiting cycle is trending elsewhere.

One of Nebraska’s top defensive targets in the 2025 recruiting cycle, linebacker Dawson Merritt, is being projected to land with a top SEC program.

Merritt is ranked as a four-star prospect throughout the primary recruiting services. Across the recruiting industry, experts are putting in FutureCasts, Crystal Balls, and RPMs for the Kansas native to land with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Merritt took an official visit to Lincoln in late April and also to Tuscaloosa earlier this month. These are the only official visits he has taken so far in his recruitment.

Nebraska currently has 11 commitments in its 2025 recruiting class, the most recent coming from three-star defensive end Malcolm Simpson.
