Florida lands commitment from 4-star legacy combo guard

Todd Golden has landed a second commitment from the class of 2025. Four-star guard CJ Ingram made his pledge to the Gators on his 17th birthday.

Celebrating his 17th birthday on Monday, four-star guard [autotag]CJ Ingram[/autotag] announced his commitment to the University of Florida with a video posted to social media.

Ingram is a legacy commit. His father, Cornelius, played tight end for the Florida football program during the mid-to-late aughts. Ingram began the recruiting process as a dual-sport athlete but decided to focus on basketball this spring.

He visited the university over the summer and knew Todd Golden’s program was right for him.

“It always felt like home,” Ingram said to Joe Tipton of On3. “The atmosphere is just different with the fans. My visit just felt almost perfect and I’m doing at home in front of friends and family. Coach Todd, Coach Taurean Green, Coach Hartmann and Coach Talley, they tell me every day what I can be in the future, how I can develop, and how I fit in the system.”

Ingram averaged 24 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game as a junior, according to MaxPreps. Entering his fifth year of varsity ball, he could improve from three-point range (25%) and the free-throw line (60%).

He is looking to lead Hawthorne High to a state championship this winter after bowing out of the state tournament in the regional semifinals.

Recruiting Summary

Ingram is a four-star recruit on three of the four major recruiting platforms, with Rivals being the exception.

The On3 industry ranking grants him four-star status and places him just outside the national top 100 at No. 107, but the 247Sports composite has him at three stars and down to No. 149 overall.

He’s been on an upward trajectory over the past few months and is expected to continue rising up recruiting rankings.

Florida has one other commit in the class of 2025, national No. 40 Alex Lloyd. The Gators now have the eighth-best recruiting class in the cycle, per 247Sports’ team rankings.

4-star wing schedules Michigan State basketball official visit

A top MSU target has scheduled three official visits:

One of the top priorities on Michigan State basketball’s recruiting board is Jordan Scott, a 4-star wing from Virginia. A 6-foot-7 small forward, Scott has been one of the top priorities for Tom Izzo and his staff from the beginning of the cycle.

Now, Scott has shared his intentions to make three official visits this fall, an important piece to his recruitment.

Scott will be starting his tour with Maryland on Sept. 13, followed by a trip to Virginia Tech on Sept. 21 and Michigan State getting the last crack on Oct. 4.

LSU basketball makes the cut for top 50 center

The Tigers made the cut for another top prospect in the 2025 class.

LSU made the cut for yet another top target on the board in the 2025 basketball recruiting class.

The Tigers are still looking for their first commitment in the cycle, but they made the top five for four-star, top-50 center [autotag]Jaden Toombs[/autotag] as he trimmed down his list. They’re joined by Alabama, Miami, SMU and Texas Tech.

LSU seemingly has some ground to make up with the Dallas prospect, who officially visited Texas Tech last September and has upcoming official visits set with Alabama, Miami and SMU. The Mustangs are considered the slight favorite with the Red Raiders not far behind according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine.

We’ll see if LSU can close the gap here despite not getting him on campus for an official visit.

Top 100 power forward sets September official visit with LSU

LSU will play host to Matt Gilhool in September as it looks to land its first 2025 commitment.

LSU’s quest for its first commitment in the 2025 men’s basketball recruiting class continues, but it remains in contention for several of its top targets and will soon play host to one of them for an official visit.

The Tigers made the list of finalists for four-star power forward [autotag]Matt Gilhool[/autotag], who ranks as the No. 77 player nationally. Gilhool has now set a trio of official visits starting with Georgia Tech (Aug. 31), followed by LSU (Sept. 7) and Iowa (Sept. 14), according to On3.

Gilhool already took an official visit to Syracuse last October. On3 currently considers the Orange the favorite, though they aren’t among his top seven.

LSU seems to have some ground to make up with the Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, prospect, but it will have the chance to do so when it plays host to him in the fall.

Elite shooting guard recruit includes LSU in top 7

LSU is in the mix for one of 2025’s top point guards.

Matt McMahon’s rebuild of LSU basketball is trending up after strides were made on the court and on the recruiting trail last year. The progress is continuing as LSU remains involved with several blue-chips in the 2025 class.

One of those names is four-star guard [autotag]King Grace[/autotag], who included LSU in his top seven. The news was reported by 247Sports and Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU and Texas A&M joined LSU.

According to 247Sports, King is the eighth-ranked point guard in his class. All four major recruiting services rank King as a top-100 overall prospect and a top 10 player in the state of Texas.

The 2025 recruiting cycle has yet to heat up, but in the last cycle, McMahon signed the No. 13 overall class. With LSU in the mix for prospects like King, the Tigers could finish in the top 15 again. The 2024 class was headlined by blue-chip guards [autotag]Vyctorius Miller[/autotag] and [autotag]Curtis Givens[/autotag].

LSU struggled with guard play early in McMahon’s tenure, so it’s promising to see the backcourt depth being built up. It’s tough to make a tournament run without a bonafide floor general running the point.

LSU hoops makes the cut for 4-star point guard Nyk Lewis

The top-50 national prospect officially visited Baton Rouge in June.

LSU men’s basketball is still trying to land its first 2025 commit, but coach Matt McMahon and staff have now made the cut for yet another top prospect in the cycle.

On Thursday, four-star point guard [autotag]Nyk Lewis[/autotag] trimmed his list down to six teams, and the Tigers are a finalist alongside Creighton, Xavier, Seton Hall, Michigan and Georgetown.

Lewis ranks as the No. 36 overall player nationally and the No. 5 point guard. The Washington, D.C., prospect officially visited LSU back in June, and there are no clear favorites for him with Seton Hall holding just a slight lead according to On3’s recruiting prediction machine.

LSU has had a slow start to the cycle, but a commitment from a top 50 prospect would certainly give it quite a bit of momentum.

LSU basketball a finalist for 4-star power forward

LSU is still searching for its first commitment in the 2025 cycle.

LSU men’s basketball coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] is still looking to get over the finish line with his first commitment in the 2025 cycle, but the Tigers are recruiting several targets hard and made the list of finalists for another on Tuesday.

Four-star Canton, Mississippi, power forward [autotag]Jamarion Davis-Fleming[/autotag] trimmed his list to four with LSU making the cut alongside in-state programs Ole Miss and Mississippi State as well as James Madison.

Davis-Fleming ranks just outside the top 100 nationally and is the top player in the state of Mississippi, according to On3.

Based on recent projections, LSU’s prospects don’t look great here. The Bulldogs are a heavy favorite, sitting at 99.9% according to On3’s recruiting prediction machine.

However, LSU still has some time to sway him after making his list of finalists.

LSU makes the final 6 for top 2025 recruit Aaliyah Chavez after recent visit from Kim Mulkey

The Tigers are trending for Aaliyah Chavez, and they made the cut as she trimmed her list down to six teams.

[autotag]Kim Mulkey[/autotag] has been aggressive in recruiting point guard [autotag]Aaliyah Chavez[/autotag], the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Chavez scored 34 points in the Nike Nationals semifinal on Sunday, and Mulkey was in attendance to check on the Lubbock, Texas, native. Shortly after that visit, LSU made the cut on Tuesday for Chavez, who announced a final six consisting of Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, UCLA and South Carolina in addition to the Tigers, according to On3’s Talia Goodman.

LSU is trending for Chavez after hosting her for an unofficial visit in June and is now considered the favorite to land her.

“They’ve recruited me very well,” Chavez said of LSU, per Goodman. “I think I talk to at least an assistant coach every day. They definitely talk to my parents a lot. They’re also a winning program, and I would love to win… [The visit] was fun. It was definitely different than the other visits. They had all the girls there when I was there, so they were in my photoshoots. It was definitely a different vibe. I like their energy as well – at the photoshoot, it was so high. There was no low energy at all.”

Mulkey was also there to check on [autotag]Bella Hines[/autotag], a four-star point guard and top-25 prospect who is already committed to the Tigers.

LSU women’s basketball the favorite to land 2025’s top overall recruit

LSU is the favorite to land the top recruit in the 2025 class.

[autotag]Kim Mulkey[/autotag] is an elite recruiter. She’s won several national championships by assembling teams of future WNBA stars. At LSU, it’s been more of the same, with Mulkey building one of the best recruiting staffs in the country.

Mulkey and Co. are working on landing one of their biggest pieces yet in 2025 five-star [autotag]Aaliyah Chavez[/autotag]. According to On3, Chavez is the top recruit in the class and per its Prediction Machine, LSU is the favorite to land Chavez at 62%.

The next closest school is Texas Tech, all the way down at 5%. Chavez broke down her top schools for On3 earlier this month.

“They’ve recruited me very well,” She said of LSU, “I think I talk to at least an assistant coach every day.”

Chavez said LSU is a winning program, something that’s important to her and cited the high energy she witnessed on her visit to Baton Rouge.

LSU already has an elite guard on board this cycle with Bella Hines, but Chavez would propel LSU’s class to another level. The Tigers remain involved with [autotag]ZaKiyah Johnson[/autotag] too, but LSU will have to battle Kentucky on that front.

[autotag]Kim Mulkey[/autotag] is preparing to enter her fourth year at LSU. Her program is firmly established as one that recruits can come to reach the next level. The success [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] is having as a rookie in the WNBA can’t hurt either.

LSU baseball lands a commitment from top prospect in Nevada

Ethan Clauss is the No. 42 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

[autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] landed an elite signing class in 2024 and managed to bring three top-15 prospects to campus. Now, he’s turning his attention to the 2025 class.

On Wednesday, the Tigers landed a commitment from shortstop [autotag]Ethan Clauss[/autotag], the No. 1 player in the state of Nevada and the No. 42 overall prospect nationally.

“I want to give praise to my Lord and Savior for giving me the ability to play the game I love,” Clauss said in a social media post. “I also want to thank all of my coaches, teammates, friends, and most importantly my family for helping me throughout my journey. Finally, I would like to thank (coach Jay Johnson). Geaux Tigers!”

Clauss becomes the 18th member of LSU’s 2025 class, but as we saw this weekend at the 2024 MLB draft, it will be a battle to get him to campus as he will certainly be a draftable prospect next summer.
