The NHL Winter Classic is a long-standing tradition in hockey and we finally have our first look at what the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken will be wearing for the occasion.
We’ve known for some time that the reigning Stanley Cup champions and the NHL’s 32nd team will compete outdoors on New Year’s Day at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. As of Wednesday, we now know what the jersey matchup will look like between the Golden Knights and Kraken. And folks, they’re certainly unique!
The Kraken’s jersey for the Winter Classic goes back to the city’s roots in hockey with an updated version of the Seattle Metropolitans jerseys from the 1910s. The Metropolitans actually hold an interesting record as being the first United States team to win the Stanley Cup! The Golden Knights, meanwhile, went for a stylized “V” on the front with a more muted gold for their Winter Classic sweaters.

Definitely not the worst Winter Classic jersey matchup I’ve ever seen, but the Kraken for sure hold the edge here thanks to bringing back an iconic vintage look from their history.
NHL fans, of course, took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the Kraken and Golden Knights’ Winter Classic jerseys.
