Oklahoma (1-1) defeated No. 9 Tennessee (1-1), 5-1 in 10 innings, Saturday in the Shriners Children’s College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Oklahoma led, 1-0, in the fourth inning, before the Vols scored after a solo home run by Dylan Dreiling.

Oklahoma scored four runs in the tenth inning.

Dreiling went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Christian Moore went 2-for-4 with one double, while Hunter Ensley recorded two hits for Tennessee.

Drew Beam started and pitched 5.2 innings for the Vols, recording two strikeouts and allowing seven hits and one run.

Aaron Combs (0-1) allowed one hit, three runs and three walks, while recording four strikeouts for Tennessee.

No. 8 Tennessee (1-0) defeated No. 22 Texas Tech (0-1), 6-2, Friday in the Shriners Children’s College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, home of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers.

Tennessee led, 2-0, after Billy Amick hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Hunter Ensley and Bradke Lohry also recorded RBIs for the Vols.

AJ Causey (1-0) pitched 4.2 innings of scoreless relief for Tennessee. He allowed two hits and recorded seven strikeouts.

AJ Russell started for the Vols and pitched 4.1 innings, allowing two earned runs, three hits and one walk. He totaled 10 strikeouts.

10,992 were in attendance at Globe Life Field.

Tennessee baseball to play in the 2024 Shriners Children’s College Showdown.

Tennessee baseball will compete in the 2024 Shriners Children’s College Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The 2024 tournament will mark the fourth year of the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field. The three-day tournament will feature Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas Tech.

“Throughout the past decade, our healthcare system has received incredible support from college baseball programs and their fans around the country,” Vice President of Sports for Shriners Children’s Bob Roller said in a press release. “We are thrilled to establish our new partnership with the Texas Rangers and REV Entertainment to further advance our mission of providing life-changing medical care to children, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.”

The tournament will take place Feb. 16-18, 2024.
