Shohei Ohtani wore a splendid jacket for his dog at the MLB All-Star Game red carpet

This is such a dog owner move, and WE LOVE IT. 10/10.

Shohei Ohtani wore a splendid jacket for his dog, Decoy, to the MLB All-Star Game red carpet, and it’s so darn cute that we can’t stand it.

When Shohei met with the media shortly after signing his deal with the Dodgers in 2023, fans immediately wanted to know things about him, like his wife’s name and even what he called his dog. He eventually revealed that his pup’s name was Decoy, which was totally and hysterically appropriate given all the speculation about where he might land.

It seems that Shohei’s love for his very good doggo is DEEP because Decoy was with Ohtani and Mamiko, his wife, when he took the MLB All-Star red carpet Tuesday — right inside his jacket. That’s right. Shohei actually wore a suit jacket lined with several wholesome pictures of Decoy, and the photos and video of him showing it off are precious.

How to watch the MLB All-Star Game as Paul Skenes starts for National League

Paul Skenes will be the fifth rookie pitcher to start the All-Star Game and the first since 1995.

Former LSU pitcher and first overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] has had a meteoric start to his major league career.

He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since he was called up to the Pittsburgh Pirates in May, and he’s earned a few rare distinctions in that time. Not only was Skenes selected as an All-Star in his rookie season, but he was named the starting pitcher for the National League in Tuesday night’s All-Star Game.

Skenes becomes just the fifth rookie pitcher to start an All-Star game and is the first since 1995. We don’t quite know how much Skenes will pitch in this game as the NL has other pitchers to work though as well, but here’s what LSU fans need to know to watch former Tiger and budding MLB superstar Skenes start the All-Star Game.

How to Watch

  • Date: Tuesday, July 16
  • Time: 7 p.m. CT

Where will the next MLB All-Star Games be played through 2026? Here are the answers.

Here’s where you’ll see MLB All-Star Games in 2025 and 2026.

You know this much: the 2024 MLB All-Star Game is at Globe Life Field, the home of the Texas Rangers that opened a few years ago in Arlington.

But where will the next two All-Star Games be in the next couple of years? We know that too!

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be at Truist Park in Atlanta, hosted by the Braves!

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will be at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, hosted by the Phillies!

We don’t know which park will host in 2027, so stay tuned for that. Maybe it’ll be announced at some point this week.

Torey Lovullo named Paul Skenes the NL All-Star Game starter by awkwardly crashing his interview on the Dan Patrick Show

What an awesome (and awkwardly hilarious!) moment for Skenes

Paul Skenes might be a rookie, but there’s a legitimate argument to be made that he’s currently the best pitcher in baseball.

It seems that the National League All-Star team manager thinks so, too. Diamondbacks head man Torey Lovullo is leading the NL in the All-Star game this year and he wants Skenes to be the first player to take the mound for him.

That’s a fantastic gesture for the 22-year-old rookie, to be sure. But he told him the news in the wildest way possible on Friday.

Lovullo called into the Dan Patrick Show during an interview with Skenes to let him know. Here’s the moment:

“I thought it was my time to just butt in on a really special moment. I could see you guys were having your special time with Paul,” Lovullo said. “Paul … I just wanted to congratulate you. I’ve chosen you to be the starter for the National League in the 2024 All-Star game. It’s an unbelievable honor and one that’s so well deserved.”

That’s a huge moment for Skenes and a really nice way to deliver the news, as awkward as it was. It’s also a smart choice from Lovullo.

Skenes was excited about it, too. Or, well, as excited as Paul Skenes gets, anyway. “That’s cool. That’s really cool,” he said.

What a moment. It’ll be the first of many for Skenes.

The 2024 MLB All-Star rosters’ 8 biggest snubs: Where’s Francisco Lindor and a bunch of Orioles?

Some big names were left off the rosters. Let’s break them down.

The full list of 2024 MLB All-Star players on the American and National League rosters — including the starters — and we’ve got some stars having really, really good seasons who got left out.

Of course we know this happens every year in every sport: Inevitably, some talent gets left out for one reason (roster size) or another (in this case, every MLB team needs to be represented, which doesn’t help).

So let’s go over some of the guys left out, and maybe if there’s an injury or any other reason a player has to bow out, this list will provide some good replacements.

Here we go, in no particular order:

1. SS Francisco Lindor, New York Mets

Here, this should convince you:

2. 1B Christian Walker, Arizona Diamondbacks

C’mon!

3. OF Brandon Nimmo, New York Mets

Dude’s got 53 RBI this year!

4. OF Anthony Santander, Baltimore Orioles

What’s with the Orioles snubs?

5. RP Craig Kimbrel, Baltimore Orioles

See above.

6. SP Cristopher Sanchez, Philadelphia Phillies

Hard to complain when the Phils have a bunch of their hurlers on the squad. But a snub is a snub!

7. 2B Brice Turang, Milwaukee Brewers

A .288 average and 29 swipes! Not on the team!

8. SP Ronel Blanco, Houston Astros

Kind of wild given the year he’s having.

A leaked photo of this year’s MLB All-Star Game jersey had fans absolutely furious at Nike

Nike and MLB continue to disappoint.

When it comes to uniforms, 2024 has certainly been a year to forget for MLB and Nike. And the apparent uniforms for this month’s MLB All-Star Game in Texas won’t help either.

Up until 2019, All-Stars for the competing National League and American League squads wore the home and away uniforms of their respective teams during the actual All-Star Game. MLB’s uniform supplier at the time, Majestic, did design special AL and NL jerseys, but those were only worn at the Home Run Derby until 2017 and workout day in 2018 and 2019 (there was no All-Star Game in 2020 due to the pandemic-shortened season).

Yet, when Nike took over in 2020, there was a shift to have players wear All-Star jerseys during the actual game. The results haven’t been great, and 2024’s edition might be the worst one yet.

A photo hit social media on Wednesday showing a look at Juan Soto’s All-Star Game jersey at the Yankee Stadium team shop. It was a tan jersey with red sleeves, and really, nothing about it had a connection to the host Texas Rangers. Of course, they could look better on the players as opposed to a clothing rack, but I wouldn’t hold out hope for that.

If Nike was smart, it would bring back the regular team jerseys for the All-Star Game and only use these special jerseys for workouts. It does the All-Star Game zero favors if the players are out there looking terrible.

MLB fans also had plenty of thoughts on the jersey.

This was how Twitter/X reacted
