Oklahoma Sooners make top 10 for 2024 4-Star OT Daniel Calhoun

The Oklahoma Sooners make the top 10 2024 4-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun.

The 2024 recruiting cycle is in full swing, and the Oklahoma Sooners got some positive news in the recruitment of a blue-chip offensive tackle.

Oklahoma lands inside the top 10 for 2024 four-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun. The Sooners were included along with Alabama, Florida State, TennesseeFloridaTexasGeorgiaOhio State, and LSU. Calhoun also has a host of offers from notable Power Five programs like Michigan, Michigan State, Arkansas, Auburn, Miami, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.

Calhoun may feel like a longshot at the moment for the Oklahoma Sooners, but we’ve seen this coaching staff pull off some big-time recruiting wins over the last year, so nothing’s over till it’s over. It will be a challenge to go into Georgia and land a top 50 player.

However, with Bill Bedenbaugh’s penchant for developing NFL offensive linemen, don’t count out the Sooners just yet.

Sooners receive crystal ball projection for 2024 4-star OL Casey Poe

After he visited Norman for the Sooners’ game against Baylor, Oklahoma earned a crystal ball for 2024 4-star OL Casey Poe. From @john9williams

With three games to go, the Oklahoma Sooners have a few more opportunities, including their final home game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Bedlam to make gameday impressions on the future of college football. While much of the attention is on the 2023 class with Colton Vasek’s flip to Texas and the early signing period less just over a month away, Oklahoma’s also been entertaining unofficial visitors from the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes.

One player that Oklahoma had in Norman over the weekend for their matchup with the Baylor Bears was four-star offensive lineman Casey Poe out of Lindale, Texas.

The Sooners must have made a strong impression on the 2024 prospect because earlier this week, OUInsider’s Parker Thune issued a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Oklahoma Sooners landing Poe.

Poe stands 6-5 and weighs 280 pounds. He has the build to play tackle in addition to guard.

He’s a physical player at the point of attack. An offensive lineman that doesn’t simply want to block his opponent but wants to punish them. He moves well in space and does a great job of keeping his feet underneath him and moving.

Here’s what Thune had to say about his crystal ball prediction.

I believe Oklahoma solidified their lead for four-star 2024 OL Casey Poe this weekend. I’ve long mentioned that Poe could be a guy that commits early in the process, and I think the Sooners would be the beneficiary in that case. I’ve had a gut feeling about the kid for quite a while, and I mentioned last month that I was getting very close to putting in a crystal ball. With as well as things went on the gameday visit, I’m going to go ahead and enter a moderate-confidence prediction in favor of the Sooners. – Thune, OUInsider at 247Sports

Oklahoma Sooners offer 2024 top 100 OT prospect out of Texas Michael Uini

Oklahoma extends an offer to 2024 offensive tackle prospect Michael Uini out of Copperas Cove, Texas.

With names like Cayden Green and Payton Kirkland slated to announce in the month of July, the Oklahoma Sooners will know whether or not offensive tackle will be a position of need on the recruiting trail as they get closer and closer to the start of the 2022 season.

Securing the commitments of both in addition to the commitment of Heath Ozaeta, would essentially bring their offensive tackle search to an end for the 2023 recruiting class.

With that in mind, it would only make sense that offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh would start to look for 2024’s crop of offensive tackles. In doing so, Bedenbaugh’s search led him to Copperas Cove, Texas where 2024 offensive tackle Michael Uini resides. Uini received an offer from Oklahoma and according to 247Sports Composite rankings, he’s one of the nation’s 75 best players in the class.

Uini is a massive young man who stands 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds and is not even 18 years old. He is an athletic player and shines blocking off the edge where speed can be a detriment to offensive tackles who are larger than the standard offensive tackles.

His recruitment is still relatively new with no one team really firmly ahead but over the next few months heading into his junior year, he should see his recruitment hit another gear.

Sooners offer 2024 4-star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton from Washington D.C.

After visiting Norman over the weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners offered 2024 four-star OL Jordan Seaton out of Washington D.C.

With another big recruiting weekend in the books, offers are starting to flow. While 2024 national signing day is still two years out, the Oklahoma Sooners’ latest offer goes to four-star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton.

According to Rivals, Seaton, out of Washington D.C., is considered the No. 1 interior offensive line prospect. The 247Sports Composite has Seaton at No. 2, and On3 Recruiting has him at No. 4 in their consensus rankings.

Out of St. John’s High School, Seaton is 6-6 and right at 300 lbs. He’s got the size and length to play on the guard or tackle at the college level. He displayed good patience against pass rushers in his sophomore season, not biting for feints. After Seaton engaged with the opposing rusher, it was over for them. His size and strength were no match for opponents, and St. John’s liked running the ball to his side of the field.

Seaton plays with good leverage and does a nice job communicating and passing off stunts. He moves well in space and plays with a bit of a mean streak.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Penn State and Michigan tied for the lead for Seaton’s services. Still, the Oklahoma Sooners have the third-highest probability of landing the four-star offensive lineman.
