2024 LSU commit scores on long touchdown pass

Xavier Atkins showed that he can make plays after the catch.

[autotag]Xavier Atkins[/autotag] is a 2024, four-star, 6-foot-1, 190-pound linebacker from Jonesboro-Hodge High School where he stars for the Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers.

The Tigers are 2-3 to start this season after a 20-10 win last night over Pineville High School. Even though Atkins is listed as a linebacker, when you are as good of an athlete as he is, sometimes you play on both sides of the ball so you can make even more of a difference.

In this play, Jonesboro-Hodge hits Atkins on a screen pass and he gets a couple of good blocks and sheds a tackle as he strolls into the endzone.

LSU currently has five overall commits for the 2024 recruiting class, a class that is ranked as the No. 3 class in the country, and Atkins is one of two linebacker commits. The other linebacker commit is [autotag]Maurice Williams[/autotag] from Pearland, Texas.

There are still a couple of years between now and Atkins signing day, but he will definitely be a player to keep an eye on.

WATCH: LSU four-star tight end commit hauls in a long pass

Tayvion Galloway is already making an impact during his junior season.

[autotag]Tayvion Galloway[/autotag] is a four-star, 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end in the 2024 class from Chillicothe, Ohio, where he plays for Chillicothe High School. The Cavaliers are off to a hot start for the 2022 season as they have begun 2-0.

Galloway played a big role in the Cavs winning both of their games so far and as you can see by this catch, good luck trying to guard this guy as a linebacker or a safety. He is either faster than you or has a height advantage over you, sometimes both.

Galloway committed to the Tigers over the Michigan Wolverines. Galloway is the most recent commit of the 2024 class for [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and the Tigers. He joins three other guys in a class that is currently ranked as the No. 3 class for 2024.

It is still a long time between now and his national signing day but I believe the Tigers will be getting a good one in Galloway.

LSU flips in-state 2024 linebacker from Missouri

Three-star Xavier Atkins chose to leave one Tigers team for another.

The dominoes continue to fall for [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his coaching staff. The Tigers landed three prospects on July 4th (all class of 2023), and on July 5th, three-star in-state linebacker [autotag]Xavier Atkins[/autotag] announced his commitment to play for LSU at the next level.

Atkins is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound linebacker from Jonesboro, Louisiana, where he plays for Jonesboro-Hodge High School. The Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers finished last season 10-4 with a loss to Amite in the Louisiana Class 2A semifinals.

He becomes the second commit in the 2024 class and the first linebacker. [autotag]Maurice Williams[/autotag] is his only cohort in that class, but things could change quickly as LSU is expected to be in contention for many players as they announce their commitments this month.

Atkins was committed to playing for Missouri until he committed from one Tiger team yesterday to join another one, one that felt more like home. It’s been a great past few days if you are a Tigers fan.
