Oklahoma legacy Michael Hawkins signs with the Sooners

Oklahoma legacy Michael Hawkins signs national letter of intent with the Sooners.

Oklahoma’s recruiting class had one commitment when April rolled around. That verbal commitment was from four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe. When the calendar turned to April, things changed quickly, and the catalyst came when quarterback Michael Hawkins announced his pledge to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Hawkins is an Oklahoma legacy by way of his father, who played defensive back at Oklahoma under Brent Venables. The younger Hawkins is a surgical passer who has steadily improved over the last two years. In his senior season, he put up video game numbers. He accounted for over 50 touchdowns and fewer than seven turnovers in 2023.

He’s been a recruiter for the rest of the class and has remained solid for Oklahoma despite the offensive coordinator switch from Jeff Lebby to Seth Littrell and Joe Jon Finley.

With Hawkins set to enroll early, he’ll get his opportunity to learn the playbook and get comfortable as an Oklahoma quarterback.

Oklahoma Sooners land Rivals’ top interior offensive lineman

It was a long recruiting battle but the Sooners officially land the signature of one of the most sought offensive linemen.

The Oklahoma Sooners will have to replace five starting offensive linemen from this season’s team. [autotag]Walter Rouse[/autotag], [autotag]McKade Mettauer[/autotag], [autotag]Andrew Raym[/autotag], [autotag]Cayden Green[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyler Guyton[/autotag] are gone in 2024.

That’s why it was so important Bill Bedenbaugh landed the nation’s top interior offensive linemen, according to Rivals, [autotag]Eddy Pierre-Louis[/autotag]. He did just that by earning his commitment less than a week ago. The commitment became official Wednesday when Pierre-Louis signed his letter of intent with the Sooners.

The 6-foot-3, 335-pound guard is a freak of nature. He recorded 25 reps at 225 pounds on the bench press at a camp last summer which would have been the 16th most at the NFL combine by an offensive lineman in 2023. He also ran a 12.97 100-meter dash in high school.

He could compete immediately for playing time given the losses Oklahoma has had on the offensive line. As long as he gets the details down, he’ll have a chance to make an impact. Regardless, he has a very bright future.

State of Oklahoma’s top running back officially signs with the Sooners

The state’s top running back is officially apart of the Oklahoma Sooners football team.

Running back was an up-and-down group in 2023 for the Oklahoma Sooners. But [autotag]DeMarco Murray[/autotag] proved how good he was as a recruiter with the class of 2024.

One of those guys who committed and now has signed is the state of Oklahoma’s top-ranked running back, [autotag]Xavier Robinson[/autotag]. The Carl Albert Titan is built like a titan, standing 6 feet, 2 inches and weighing 220 pounds.

He burst on the scene after an incredible junior season in which he rushed for 2,594 yards and 39 TDs on 9.4 yards per carry. He had another fantastic season in 2023, securing Max Preps Oklahoma Prep Player of the Year. After receiving substantial interest nationally, he committed to the Sooners.

As far as his role for 2024, that is unclear. The Sooners return a great deal in the running back room. It’s unclear if new offensive coordinators [autotag]Seth Littrell[/autotag] and [autotag]Joe Jon Finley[/autotag] will use an H-back or fullback in their offense.

If they do, I can see a world where Robinson makes an immediate impact playing that [autotag]Trey Millard[/autotag], [autotag]Dimitri Flowers[/autotag] or [autotag]Jeremiah Hall[/autotag] type of role.

State of Oklahoma’s top interior offensive lineman has officially signed with the Sooners

Josh Aisosa is on board as he has signed his National Letter of Intent with the Oklahoma Sooners.

There might not be anyone in the country who is better at their job than [autotag]Bill Bedenbaugh[/autotag]. He’s produced countless offensive linemen that have gone on to have successful NFL careers.

He hopes to have more of that success with his 2024 recruiting class. One of those guys is three-star and the state of Oklahoma’s top interior offensive lineman, [autotag]Josh Aisosa[/autotag]. Aisosa is a 6-foot-4 and 305-pound offensive lineman who will probably play guard at Oklahoma.

He also has a wrestling background, which usually pays dividends for offensive linemen. [autotag]Creed Humphrey[/autotag] is a name that comes to mind for that.

For his role in 2024, typically Bedenbaugh likes his linemen to sit a year while developing their bodies with [autotag]Jerry Schmidt[/autotag]. That’s not to say he won’t play true freshmen, as we’ve seen. Especially with the loss of [autotag]Cayden Green[/autotag], a true freshman offensive lineman could earn a role in 2024.

But most likely, Aisosa will have a developmental year before taking on a bigger role in the future.

One of the best wide receivers in the 2024 class signs with the Sooners

Making his commitment official, four-star wide receiver Zion Kearney signs letter of intent with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver room is arguably the best position group on the team. After a productive 2023, the Sooners are bringing in even more talent to the depth chart in the 2024 signing class.

Joining the Sooners is Zion Kearney, who signed his national letter of intent for Oklahoma during the early signing period.

Kearney is a top 25 wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class and ranks inside the top 75 in On3 and Rivals recruiting rankings.

The Sooners are getting a do-it-all wide receiver that can win in every area of the field. At 6 feet, 2 inches and 195 pounds, he already has good size to be a force on the outside. His track speed will allow Kearney to be a deep threat and victimize coverages in the short and intermediate passing game.

The Hightower, Texas, native chose the Oklahoma Sooners over NebraskaLSUArkansasTexas A&M and Houston.

Kearney is among four wide receivers the Oklahoma Sooners are adding in 2024. He joins Ivan Carreon, Zion Ragins and Kelly Daniels.

Dynamic in-state playmaker signs with the Sooners

Mykel Patterson-McDonald signs national letter of intent with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners added another dynamic playmaker to their secondary when Westmoore standout [autotag]Mykel Patterson-McDonald[/autotag] signed his national letter of intent with the Sooners during the early signing period.

A four-star safety over at Rivals, Patterson-McDonald is considered the No. 2 player in Oklahoma and the No. 13 safety nationally. He plays with an edge in the secondary and has a penchant for creating turnovers.

Patterson-McDonald is an aggressive safety who attacks the ball in the air. He’s also a willing tackler, playing with speed and physicality in run support.

The Sooners earned Patterson-McDonald’s commitment in July, beating Missouri, Iowa State and Michigan State. His recruitment and signing reflects the concerted effort from the Sooners coaching staff to lock up the top talent in the state.

Mykel Patterson-McDonald joins a safety group that returns [autotag]Billy Bowman[/autotag], [autotag]Robert Spears-Jennings[/autotag], [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag], [autotag]Daeh McCullough[/autotag] and [autotag]Erik McCarty[/autotag], along with 2024 signees [autotag]Reggie Powers[/autotag] and [autotag]Jaydan Hardy[/autotag].

2024 4-star edge from Minnesota officially signs with the Oklahoma Sooners

Wyatt Gilmore brings his high-motor to Norman after signing his National Letter of Intent.

It was another up-and-down season for [autotag]Miguel Chavis[/autotag]’ group. There were numerous bright spots, but also moments they hope to forget.

Still, the defensive end group has abundant promise with nice young prospects. Another officially signed his national letter of intent to join that group next season. [autotag]Wyatt Gilmore[/autotag] from Minnesota is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound four-star edge.

Oklahoma Sooners fans are going to love him. He plays with a high motor and is constantly around the ball making plays. He most likely will spend the 2024 campaign developing his body and getting bigger for the 2025 season. But he could become a rotation piece in 2024 because of how hard he plays.

Speedster out of Louisiana signs letter of intent with the Oklahoma Sooners

Dynamic Louisiana playmaker K.J. Daniels signs letter of intent with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners have built a diverse and dynamic wide receiver room since the arrival of Emmett Jones. The latest addition during the early signing period is an impact player with dynamic speed, Kelly “KJ” Daniels.

Daniels signed his national letter of intent for the Oklahoma Sooners during the early signing period.

Considered a three-star prospect, Daniels is a big play waiting to happen. Whether in the passing game or the running game, he is a cheat code with his ability to accelerate and break away from defenders. He’ll be an impact player for the Sooners on the outside, but he could carve out a role in the slot as he continues to refine his game.

The three-star wide receiver out of Franklinton, Louisiana, was a priority recruitment for wide receivers coach [autotag]Emmett Jones[/autotag], who recruited Daniels while with the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

In choosing the Sooners, Daniels joins a wide receiver room that could be the best in the SEC in 2024. That group includes returning players Nic Anderson, Jalil Farooq, Jayden Gibson, Andrel Anthony, Brenen Thompson and Gavin Freeman. As impressive as that group is, the six will be pushed by the 2024 signees at wide receiver: Daniels, [autotag]Zion Kearney[/autotag], [autotag]Zion Ragins[/autotag] and [autotag]Ivan Carreon[/autotag].

Oklahoma Sooners officially land 6-foot-6 2024 wide receiver from Texas

The Sooners had a big wide receiver to the 2024 class in Ivan Carreon from Odessa, TX.

There might not have been a coach on staff who did a better job than [autotag]Emmett Jones[/autotag] in 2023. The wide receivers were thought to be a weakness of the team going into the season but ended the season as one of the strengths.

Jones has also done a great job on the recruiting trail. One of his commits signed his national letter of intent during the early signing period. [autotag]Ivan Carreon[/autotag] is a 6-foot-6 wide receiver from Odessa, Texas.

A four-star prospect, Carreon could fight for playing time, but with a loaded wide receiver room, it’s more likely he’ll sit back and develop during his freshman year. Oklahoma could try to bulk him up and move him to tight end, but as of right now, he’s a wide receiver. With his size, he excels at contested catches but has really good speed thanks to his long strides.

Oklahoma’s No. 1 player in 2024 officially signs with the Sooners

The Sooners got the signature of a big-time local prospect who could provide an immediate impact.

Once [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag] took over as head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, he and his staff made it a priority to recruit the local prospects. That push paid off. The Sooners earned the commitment and now the signature of the state’s top prospect.

[autotag]Danny Okoye[/autotag], who plays at Tulsa NOAH homeschool, signed his national letter of intent to be a Sooner. Okoye is a four-star prospect who is listed at 6 feet, 4 inches and 241 pounds.

Okoye has all of the physical tools to make an immediate impact at Oklahoma. You worry about the competition he played in high school, but the tools are there. He’s someone who could be a situational pass rusher in 2024 and has a very bright future.
