The groundskeeper known as The Sodfather blasted Super Bowl 57’s poor field conditions

The Sodfather has spoken.

The Sodfather has spoken about the less-than-ideal field conditions during Super Bowl 57.

George Toma, the retired NFL groundskeeper who has worked on numerous Super Bowl fields, came to the defense of rye grass and kind of threw one of his former co-workers under the bus, per ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss.

Toma, known as “The Sodfather” for obvious reasons, says that the Super Bowl field at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, was overwatered, leading to the slippery conditions that garnered criticism.

“So, what he does,” Toma said, referring to Ed Mangan, the NFL field director who was in charge of the Super Bowl field and worked under Toma for years, “he waters the hell out of it and puts it right into the stadium and that’s it. Never sees sunlight again. He can’t do that.”

The Sodfather also threw shade on how the field smelled (yikes) and how it was sanded.

A tarp was laid over the field to protect it from the rehearsals for the pregame, halftime and postgame shows, Toma said, and that led to the field emitting an odor. Toma said he was told during the week that the field was starting to decay and rot.

“It had a rotten smell,” he said.

Toma also alleged that Mangan did not sand the field enough.

“He sanded it two weeks too late,” Toma said. “He had only one sanding. He should have had two or three sandings, but he didn’t do [expletive]. And that was it. And not only that, he didn’t take care of it. He wouldn’t listen to anybody.”

Toma also leaped to the defense of rye grass, which he said he had used on plenty of Super Bowls in the past with no trouble.

The Sodfather did not sound very happy with the NFL, and he was not afraid to speak his mind on it.

Super Bowl LVII was Toma’s last. He retired after more than 80 years in the groundskeeping business. “I can’t take it anymore,” said Toma, who said he hasn’t been pleased with how the NFL responded to field issues at Super Bowl sites in the past.

“Me and the league are finished,” Toma said. “They can’t tell me what to do anymore. We’re done.”

If somebody wants to make a movie out of The Sodfather’s falling out with the NFL and the drama that followed, we’ll buy the first ticket.

Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl parade speech was the ultimate clapback at all the haters

Travis Kelce was absolutely HYPED during his Chiefs Super Bowl parade speech.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has become famous for his hilarious on-camera antics, and his Super Bowl 57 parade speech lived up to the hype.

Channeling the energy of  “defiant Adam Sandler,” Kelce hammered in the bizarre idea that people considered the Chiefs to be underdogs while he heaped praise on teammates Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones.

He got the crowd going with chants. He made kinda-sorta fart noises with his mouth. He said this was the best season of his life.

As annoying as his “they doubted us” shtick can be, it is always fun to see Kelce get fired up in such a big moment like a Super Bowl parade.

Gosh, there’s a second in this where Kelce is so believable, you almost start to believe him.

The rational mind knows that not a soul would doubt the Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs, but even false chips on shoulders can produce results. If it works, it works.

A mic’d up Paul Rudd was the most excited celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl win with players

Paul Rudd! Super Bowl celebrations! What’s not to love?

Kansas City Chiefs superfan Paul Rudd was just one of the many folks on the field after Super Bowl 57, congratulating his favorite team on the big win.

NFL Films caught a couple of glimpses of Rudd giving love to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and defensive end Frank Clark, who both looked elated to see Rudd amidst the confetti.

Since Rudd is one of the most lovable people on the planet, it’s got to be exciting if you’re a Kansas City player for him to be one of your celebrity fans.

Everyone looks so happy! It’s nice to see people being happy!

This is just pure dopamine. Rudd has been living his best life this week, as he’s about to also see his third Ant-Man film hit theaters this week.

Getting to celebrate a Super Bowl win on the field with the players and starring in a new Marvel movie … we’ll have what he’s having.

Melvin Gordon was brutally (and hilariously) honest about his role in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run

“I got carried, baby.” – A man who knows his role well

One thing about Melvin Gordon is that he’s going to be brutally honest about things, no matter what. That’s just how he’s always been.

That definitely didn’t change after he won his first and only Super Bowl with the Chiefs. Gordon was a late roster addition for the Chiefs in the season made to bolster their running game for the playoffs.

Things, obviously, turned out extremely well for Gordon. He didn’t have to do essentially anything at all but got a Super Bowl ring out of it. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

Gordon seems to think so, too. He was asked about the difference between his brief stint with the Chiefs in comparison with his time on other teams and his answer was brutally honest while also being hilarious.

In short, the man said he was “carried.” And he’s thrilled about it.

The difference? Oh the difference is I didn’t do s***. I got carreid. I got carried, baby.”

This is so perfect, y’all. The honesty. Melvin Gordon is a grade-A truth teller, man. We absolutely love to see it.

Fans thought this was too funny.

Jason and Travis Kelce broke down crying after the Super Bowl because their mom is the best

It’s AWESOME how much Super Bowl 57 meant to Jason and Travis Kelce.

Travis and Jason Kelce have had one of the most emotional past couple of weeks that a pair of NFL players could have.

The ballyhooed “Kelce Bowl” pit Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs against Jason Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57, as you well know by now.

It ended up that Travis Kelce ultimately hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.

The brothers saw their parents get plenty of love during the Super Bowl media frenzy, something that made Jason Kelce visibly emotional during the Kelces’ latest episode of their podcast New Heights.

The entire experience really seems to have made a deep impression on the eldest Kelce brother, the kind that not even a Super Bowl win can really match.

Jason Kelce’s insight into his mom Donna Kelce’s Super Bowl love is especially powerful.

I mean, that’s pretty awesome. The joys of football do not seem lost on Jason Kelce, nor does the impact that brotherly love can have on a career seem to be lost on Travis Kelce.

It’s hard not to be just incredibly happy for the Kelce family and what they’ve all gotten to experience in the last few weeks. It’s a moment in time that they’ll undoubtedly cherish forever.

Patrick Mahomes was absolutely shocked by a Disneyland ride during his Super Bowl MVP visit

Patrick Mahomes did NOT expect this Disneyland ride to go so hard.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found himself caught off-guard by the intensity of a Disneyland ride this week while celebrating his Super Bowl 57 victory.

As is customary for the Super Bowl MVP, Mahomes and his family ventured over to a Disney park for a parade and some enjoyment.

The Mahomes have a young daughter who undoubtedly was excited to take in Disneyland, but one ride caught her NFL MVP father by surprise.

Mahomes told Jimmy Kimmel on Monday about taking his eldest kiddo on the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, which opened at the park in 2020. He called the ride’s name a “tongue twister” while describing it.

The Chiefs quarterback said he did not expect the seemingly family-friendly attraction to go as hard as it did. He starts talking about their Disneyland trip at 3:51 in the interview.

It’s just hysterical to hear Mahomes openly wondering why a Disneyland ride starring Mickey and Minnie Mouse featured so much adrenaline.

“It was actually pretty crazy,” Mahomes told Kimmel. “It caught me by surprise a couple of times. I thought it was, like, a kids’ ride how it was set up, and all of a sudden, I’m flying around in this place, and I’m like, how do y’all let little kids on this thing?”

He’s right! The ride is kind of intense for little kids!

They say any publicity is good publicity, and Disney could see an influx of park guests who are ready to ride the attraction that gave the most decorated NFL player of his generation some unexpected thrills.

The full Kimmel interview is worth checking out. It had a hilarious anecdote about Andy Reid’s Super Bowl halftime policy for Chiefs players wanting to watch Rihanna and fascinating insight into a Pikachu-inspired trick play.

C.J. Gardner Johnson is the latest Eagles player to spar with JuJu Smith-Schuster over Valentine’s Day trolling

C.J. Gardner-Johnson was NOT HAVING JuJu Smith-Schuster’s Valentine’s Day Eagles trolling.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster might’ve posted one of the most-hated customized Valentine’s Day cards of all time.

On Tuesday, Smith-Schuster enjoyed some topical trolling of Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry after the latter committed that controversial holding penalty during Super Bowl 57.

Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown delivered a devastating comeback aimed at Smith-Schuster, one where he blisteringly called him “Tik-Tok boy.”

Well, as you can imagine, word traveled fast on NFL Twitter about Smith-Schuster’s hilarious-yet-incredibly-petty Valentine’s gag.

Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson didn’t hold back his thoughts on the Twitter controversy.

Whew, that’s actually a pretty effective clapback from Gardner-Johnson, particularly the interception-to-touchdown jab. Let’s see how Smith-Schuster responded.

Ooof. The infamous Javon Wims punch. While Gardner-Johnson definitely won that round with the former Chicago Bears wideout, Smith-Schuster’s replies were loud and clear.

Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons also chimed in on Smith-Schuster’s tweeting, which is a bit odd since this involved Dallas’ archrival. Maybe it’s an offense vs. defense thing. Who’s to say.

As for Bradberry, he took the high road and just reminded folks exactly what all he accomplished this year.

Well, as you can guess, this probably won’t simmer anytime soon. We’ll see if any other NFL players get into a back-and-forth with Smith-Schuster and if this Valentine’s Day trolling will inspire any more rounds of beef.

Patrick Mahomes revealed that the Chiefs paid homage to Pokémon on Super Bowl trick play

Patrick Mahomes wants to be the best that there ever was.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes revealed fascinating insight into a trick play that the team used during Super Bowl 57.

The moment in question came while the Chiefs were in the red zone, trying to score a touchdown on the Philadelphia Eagles. The team did its signature ring-around-the-rosie huddle before attempting to get the ball to offensive tackle Andrew Wylie for the trick touchdown. The play was unsuccessful, but the driving force behind the play is just fantastic.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Mahomes shared that the play was named after the popular Nintendo video game series Pokémon.

This is pretty awesome for the Chiefs to do for Wylie, who Mahomes said is a major Pokémon collector.

Most NFL teams might not be cool enough to give homage to the great Pikachu, but those teams aren’t winning Super Bowls. Kudos to Andy Reid for continuing to be one of the most creative play callers in the NFL.

Professor Oak would be proud!

A.J. Brown ruthlessly called JuJu Smith-Schuster a ‘Tik-Tok boy’ after Super Bowl Valentine’s Day tweet

Don’t get on A.J. Brown’s bad side or he’ll roast you too.

A.J. Brown wasn’t a fan of JuJu Smith-Schuster’s Valentine’s Day trolling of his Philadelphia Eagles teammate.

On Tuesday, Smith-Schuster roasted James Bradberry with a well-timed Valentine’s Day card trolling the Eagles’ cornerback for his game-changing hold at the end of Super Bowl 57. The Kansas City Chiefs were able to kick a game-winning field goal off of Bradberry’s hold on Smith-Schuster — which he admitted was one — to beat the Eagles 38-35 on Sunday.

As Smith-Schuster’s tweet was going viral, Brown clapped back with a vicious roasting of his own. In his tweet, Brown congratulated Smith-Schuster for the win, but called the Chiefs wide receiver out for Patrick Mahomes resurrecting his career and called him “Tik-Tok boy” for good measure.

Goodness, that’s quite the response, eh? Famously, Smith-Schuster has put together quite the presence on Tik-Tok over the years, making this easy pickings for Brown to turn about on his opponent. Not only that, Brown’s ruthless quote tweet of Smith-Schuster’s Valentine’s card has more engagement than the original troll itself.

Smith-Schuster did eventually respond back to Brown, but it’s clear the Eagles wide receiver wins this round.

Yes, Smith-Schuster can say whatever he wants after winning the Super Bowl, but Eagles fans now have all the freedom in the world to call the wide receiver “Tik-Tok boy” from now on. And trust me, Eagles fans aren’t ones you want to give trolling fodder to.

JuJu Smith-Schuster savagely trolled James Bradberry with Super Bowl-themed Valentine’s card

Roses are red; violets are blue. Do not ever let JuJu Smith-Schuster roast you

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is relishing in his team’s Super Bowl victory.

After finding out he earned a $1 million bonus by hitting incentives in the big win, Smith-Schuster found a topical way to troll Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry.

Of course, Smith-Schuster and Bradberry found themselves at the center of Super Bowl 57’s biggest controversy. Bradberry got flagged for holding Smith-Schuster toward the end of the game, giving the Chiefs an opportunity to drain the clock and kick a game-sealing field goal.

Bradberry admitted he tugged on Smith-Schuster’s jersey, although some folks were still annoyed the referees called such a ticky-tacky foul on such a big stage.

Well, Smith-Schuster didn’t let Valentine’s Day go by without sharing an absolutely savage Valentine’s card in Bradberry’s, er, honor.

Alright, that is absolutely brutal. Hilarious, but brutal.

There is clearly no love lost between these two teams, and Smith-Schuster has won this round unless Bradberry is able to get him back next season.

If Bradberry isn’t able, Eagles wideout A.J. Brown might have already done it for him.
