There are still two weeks left in the 2021 regular season, but we can already look ahead to the 2022 NFL schedule with some degree of certainty. The week 16 outcomes around the league finalized the variables on the Detroit Lions schedule for the 2022 campaign.

Detroit’s loss to Atlanta secured last place in the NFC North for the Lions when coupled with the Chicago Bears road win over the Seattle Seahawks. That Bears-Seahawks outcome also ensured that Seattle will finish in last place in the NFC West.

Detroit will face all the teams in the NFC East and the AFC East in 2022. We already knew that. The divisional crossover games are where the 2021 standings matter.

Based on the rotating divisional schedules, the 2022 season pits the NFC North in sequential matchups with the NFC West and NFC South. The first-place teams in each division will square off, as will the second, third and fourth-place finishers against one another. So the Lions are locked into playing Seattle from the West and Carolina from the South. Atlanta’s win over the Lions and Carolina’s lifeless loss to the Buccaneers ensures the Panthers will be in last place in the NFC South.

The other division with that arrangement for 2022 is the AFC South in the “17th” game. And when the Houston Texans stunned the Los Angeles Chargers, the Jacksonville Jaguars clinched last place. Due to the nature of the schedule matrix, the Lions will host the Jaguars.

We won’t learn the sequence of the games or when the bye week takes place until at least May, but the opponents are locked in already.

Where 247Sports ranked the LSU Tigers 2022 schedule released on Tuesday

Where does the 2022 schedule for the LSU Tigers rank in terms of difficulty among their peers?

The SEC released the schedules for each of their 14 teams on Tuesday evening and announced them on SEC Network. The teams weren’t a surprise as they were announced far ahead of Tuesday’s reveal, it was the conference schedule that was the real question.

Going into next season the Tigers will play a neutral site game against Florida State to open the campaign in New Orleans. Two of their next three games will be nonconference tilts with a conference matchup in between. We released our version of the schedule with some historical numbers.

Brad Crawford of 247Sports ranked the Tigers 2022 schedule with LSU coming in among the middle of the SEC. He has them at No. 8. No school has an easier schedule than the Georgia Bulldogs according to Crawford. Alabama wasn’t much better coming in at No. 12 overall.

With Florida State in ruin and the rest of the non-conference slate a near automatic 3-0, Ed Orgeron’s program has a great shot at starting the season with four wins before taking on Auburn away from home in the first toss-up of the 2022 campaign. By our projection, the Tigers’ second game vs. a nationally-ranked opponent comes in mid-October at Florida. This schedule is manageable by SEC West standards and given LSU’s talent level, provides opportunity for success.

Opening the season against the Florida State Seminoles will be an interesting matchup. These teams haven’t played in over 30 years. Can Florida State get on back on track and put together any momentum before the opener next season? That remains to be seen.

2022 SEC football schedules for all 14 teams

2022 SEC football schedules for all 14 teams.

The Southeastern Conference released its 2022 team-by-team football schedules on Tuesday.

Dates for all games were assigned to the 14 member schools of the SEC.

Below are 2022 schedules for each SEC team.

SEC releases Alabama’s full schedule for 2022 season

Despite the 2021 season just getting underway, Alabama’s entire schedule for the 2022 season dropped on Tuesday.

Despite the 2021 season just getting underway, the SEC dropped the entire schedule for the 2022 season on Tuesday. We already knew who Alabama was going to play but not in what order.

As usual, six SEC West opponents are on tap, with Tennessee and Vanderbilt being the two East crossover games. The “cupcake” nonconference section will consist of Utah State and ULM in the month of September, then Austin Peay right before the Iron Bowl.

Texas is the most eye-popping opponent on the schedule. In the first of a home and home series, Alabama will travel to Austin for the first time in 100 years. And if you are a jersey matchup kind of person, the Crimson Tide in their all-whites against Texas’ burnt orange should be a fun one.

Markdown Steve Sarkisian as another assistant to go up against Nick Saban as well.

Here is Alabama’s full schedule for the 2022 season.

Report: Wisconsin’s Lambeau Field contest with Notre Dame has been rescheduled

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez announced on his radio show recently that the program has rescheduled their Lambeau Field contest

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez announced on his radio show recently that the program was able to reschedule their Lambeau Field contest against Notre Dame—a game that was canceled last season due to COVID-19-related schedule changes.

“We’ve got it rescheduled. We’ll announce that soon,” Alvarez said. “Notre Dame was able to clear a date, we were able to clear a date and make things happen. We’re going to play that.”

The only thing Alvarez didn’t mention: when the game will be played.

Wisconsin’s non-conference slate is full through the 2027 season minus one opening still left in 2026.

Wisconsin State Journal’s Todd Milewski looked at when the game could be played. He mentioned the 2022 campaign, with Wisconsin and Notre Dame moving around previously-scheduled games—Washington State, New Mexico State and Illinois State being the Badgers’ three non-conference games that year.

Details will likely come soon from the Wisconsin Athletic Department. For now, though, it’s great news we’ll get to travel north to Green Bay and watch the Badgers partake in one of the sports’ marquee contests.
