Florida football makes cut for four-star OL’s top 12

The Florida Gators football program has made the top 12 for this four-star offensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class.

The work for Dan Mullen and his staff at Florida continues in terms of future recruiting classes. And on Friday, the program received some good news in terms of one of its targets.

Four-star offensive lineman Malik Agbo made a small update to his recruitment, cutting his list of 24 offers down to just his top 12 schools.

Among those 12 were the Florida Gators who are joined by LSU, Alabama, Arizona State, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, USC and Washington. Here is the message he posted on Twitter:

In addition to taking this next step and announcing his top 12 teams, Agbo also caught up with 247Sports to discuss those teams. He broke down each team and how they have been recruiting him, saying this about Florida:

Florida: “Florida has great academics and they will make sure you are treated like family. Coach (Dan) Mullen and coach (John) Hevsey and the whole coaching staff always make sure that you’re welcome and that you work hard every single day you are at the University of Florida in order to be where you want to be.”

Agbo is ranked as the No. 268 overall recruit, No. 30 offensive tackle and the No. 6 player in the state of Washington per the 247Sports rankings.

Gators make the cut after this five-star recruiting target updated his list

This five-star safety—a Florida Gators football recruiting target—made some changes to his top six list this week but kept UF on his list.

Dan Mullen and his Florida Gators staff are working hard on building their 2022 recruiting class, following what some may call a disappointing 2021 class in terms of standards for the program.

But so far, the Gators are off to a good start in the 2022 class landing five recruits already.

One top recruit remaining is five-star safety Jacoby Matthews, a top 50 player out of Ponchatoula, Louisiana who has a total of 30 offers in his recruitment so far. Matthews listed his top six schools back in February, which included the Gators.

On Tuesday, he made an update to that list of six by removing Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Alabama. He then added USC, Arizona State and Clemson, all teams who have recently offered. Here is his updated top six: LSU, Florida, USC, Arizona State, Texas and Clemson.

That’s a good list and some tough competition for the Gators moving forward in his recruitment.

Florida has made Matthews a priority over the past few months, hoping to eventually land the talented safety to their 2022 class. There’s still some time to go in this recruitment but the Gators have to feel good about this news.

Florida football makes the cut for this five-star defensive tackle recruit

The Florida Gators football program made the cut for this five-star defensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class bolstering its d-line.

Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators football program received some good news in the form of a five-star defensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class on Friday.

Five-star defensive tackle Walter Nolen made an update to his recruitment, cutting his list of 25 offers down to his Top eight. Those eight schools that made the list including UF are Oregon, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, and Southern California.

Nolen is ranked as the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, the No. 1 defensive tackle and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He’s a big time recruit that could be a program-changer on defense.

While the Gators made the top eight for Nolen, there’s also more good news as the recruit has officially scheduled a visit to Gainesville for the weekend of June 4-6. He dished on his recruitment and revealed why he included Florida in his top eight via All Gators:

“When I was at IMG, I feel like that helped better our relationship and me being able to talk to them and them just being 2-3 hours away. It was just a good chance, so being a college town, they are one of the biggest college towns you can think of, so that helps them.

Eventually, when you get to college, you have to think about, you are going to share reps with the best because everybody is there for a reason, and you have to take that into consideration and get every opportunity you can. I feel like with Florida’s offense getting off the field a lot it gives a chance for their defensive linemen to get more reps.”

The good news is that he is familiar with Florida and had positives to say about the program above. However, the Gators are facing TOUGH competition with Alabama, Georgia, and LSU involved.

Let’s hope the Gators can impress him enough on his visit weekend.

Michigan State loves players from Texas. Just in the past few years alone, the Spartans have been active in recruiting players from there. Between players like Darius Snow, Hampton Fay, Josh Butler, Tyler Higby and Kameron Allen, all of them have come from Texas. Now, the Spartans will look to add 2022 safety Peyton Williams to that list.

Williams, who is 6-foot-0 and weighs 180-pounds, attends Rockwell-Heath in his hometown of Rockwall, Texas. Williams currently has no stars and is unranked on 247sports.

Williams has only received one other offer and it’s from New Mexico. He was named to second-team all-district this previous season.

Williams has great speed, size and length for a defensive back. If you look at the highlight tape pinned to his Twitter profile, you will see some of the big hits that he delivers and how well he plays the ball. This would be a great addition for the class of 2022.

Florida lands crystal ball prediction for this four-star running back

The Florida Gators football program received a crystal ball prediction for a talented four-star running back in the 2022 recruiting class.

Dan Mullen and his staff at Florida are off to a good start in the 2022  recruiting cycle. They have landed commitments from five prospects so far, ranking No. 22 overall and No. 7 in the SEC.

But that class could soon get an upgrade in the form of a four-star running back.

Florida insider Blake Alderman of Swamp 247 logged a crystal ball prediction for four-star running back Terrance Gibbs on Saturday morning with a confidence of five. It’s the only prediction in Gibbs’ 247Sports profile so far and it does come from a Gators’ insider, which should be good news.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Gibbs missed his junior season last year, suffering a torn ACL but should be ready to go for his final year here in 2021. Still, he’s drawing a lot of interest in his recruitment.

The Winter Park, Florida, native is ranked as the No. 189 overall recruit, No. 20 running back and No. 23 payer in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 28 offers in his recruitment so far including interest from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, LSU, and Ohio State in addition to Florida.

There’s still some time to go in Gibbs’ recruitment but this is still a good sign moving forward for the Gators.

Gators listed among top 6 for this 4-star OLB recruit’s services

It’s tough to tell who is leading the way here, but we could be in for a Sunshine State battle between the Gators and Seminoles for him

Dan Mullen and his staff at Florida are hoping to turn in a big 2022 recruiting class to help make up for a solid but still underwhelming class they turned in for 2021. The Gators have identified several recruits on their big board and are in pursuit, hoping to land that big class.

One prospect that they are after is four-star outside linebacker Jaron Williams, a prospect out of Lee County in Georgia. Williams is a top 150 recruit per 247Sports and has a total of 27 offers including from some big programs. But recently, Williams identified six programs that are on top of his list including the Gators.

Moving forward, Williams is focusing on Florida, Florida State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and Ole Miss per Chad Simmons of Rivals.com.

This is the latest update to Williams’ recruitment and as he broke down his six, the outside linebacker broke down those schools including Florida:

“Coach Robinson is my guy at Florida. He has shown me a lot of love, we have talked about what all I could do in football and with academics there, so I like the total fit at Florida. I got to walk around the campus, I saw the stadium, and everything looked great.

It’s tough to tell who is leading the way here, but we could be in for a Sunshine State battle between the Gators and Seminoles.

Williams has no plans to make his decision just yet and wants to take his official visits before doing so. After that, he will make a choice which means there is still a lot of time left in this recruitment.

247Sports football analyst dishes on Florida’s chances for 5-star RB

A 247 Sports recruiting analyst broke down the top contenders for this five-star running back including the Florida Gators.

[mm-video type=video id=01f1g6spnp4h7fdggm playlist_id=01eqbz250mdknqvm5z player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01f1g6spnp4h7fdggm/01f1g6spnp4h7fdggm-bbfe633d37a9d78d99acc76f87fceebb.jpg]

With Spring football here, Dan Mullen and his staff are getting their first look at the 2021 Florida Gators football program on the field. But Mullen and his staff are also making strides on the recruiting trail.

One of Florida’s top recruiting targets in the 2022 class is five-star running back Gavin Sawchuk, a prospect out of Littleton, Colorado. Sawchuk is ranked as the No. 24 overall recruit, No. 1 running back and the No 1 player in the state of Colorado per 247Sports. He’s an elite prospect that could be a program-changing recruit.

While things have been a little silent on the recruiting front for Sawchuk,  Blair Angulo of 247Sports to broke down the latest in his recruitment and  top schools including Florida. Here is what Angulo had to say about the Gators:

Among all the SEC schools that have offered Sawchuk, it would seem that Florida has pushed the hardest in the battle. The family has been anticipating an end to the dead period for some time and Gainesville has always been a city on that eventual itinerary, so we would expect the Gators to draw a visit at some point in the process. Florida joined the chase with an offer back in May of last year and the contact has been consistent ever since.

Sawchuk has a total of 26 offers in his recruitment but hasn’t really trimmed his list down much. However, to see Florida being mentioned as a top contender for him is good news for Gators fans.

Still, there is work to be done in this recruitment.
