No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Longhorns: How to watch, stream, listen, and key players for game 2 of WCWS championship

After Oklahoma’s 16-1 win over Texas, the Sooners are one win away from their second straight national championship and here’s how to tune in.

The Oklahoma Sooners roared out of the gate in game one of the Women’s College World Series championship. Their 16-1 win tied an all-time record for most runs scored in a game, while their six home runs set a new record for a championship series game.

Jocelyn Alo, Tiare Jennings, Taylon Snow, and Jana Johns each hit home runs.

The Sooners chased Texas ace Hailey Dolcini after just 0.2 innings pitched making it likely that she’ll get the start again in game two. In her last two appearances against Oklahoma, the Sooners have tagged her for 10 runs, seven earned, in just five innings of work.

After Hope Trautwein threw 90 pitches to pick up her fourth win of the Women’s College World Series and sixth of the NCAA tournament, Jordy Bahl may get the start for the Sooners on Thursday night, which would be her first since a complete game, 7-1 win over Oklahoma State back on May 2, more than a month ago. She’s been solid in relief appearances in the the last week.

The Oklahoma Sooners fell behind 1-0 in the series opener of the WCWS Championship against Texas. It didn’t take them long to respond as Jocelyn Alo hit a two-run home run to make it a 2-1 game in the bottom of the first followed by a three-run home run from Taylon Snow to make it 5-1.

Hope Trautwein battled all night against a speedy Texas lineup, stranding nine runners on base in her five innings pitched.

Oklahoma set Women’s College World Series Championship records with six home runs and set a WCWS record for runs scored in their demolition of the Longhorns.

Alo’s now got 34 home runs on the season to lead the NCAA and Jennings is now one away from joining the 30-homer club in 2022.

The Sooners will take on the Longhorns in game two of the series on Thursday night starting at 6:30 p.m. CT. But before that, let’s relive the action through some amazing photos of Wednesday night’s 16-1 win over Texas.

Sooners dominate Texas in WCWS Championship Series game 1 behind 6 Oklahoma home runs

The Oklahoma Sooners responded to a first-inning run by Texas with a 16-run onslaught to take game one of the WCWS Championship.

The Texas Longhorns jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one of the [autotag]Women’s College World Series[/autotag] championship. And that was all they could muster. Oklahoma would then go on to score 16 runs to tie a Women’s College World Series Championship record to beat Texas 16-1.

Though the Texas Longhorns would get runners on base against [autotag]Hope Trautwein[/autotag] in the early going, even loading the bases in the first, they couldn’t push runners across.

Trautwein walked four batters, allowed two hits, and hit a batter but was able to work through it all to limit the Longhorns. Texas was 0-for-9 with runners on base and 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

And after that first-inning run that Texas pushed across, it was all Oklahoma Sooners.

In the bottom of the first inning, with the Sooners trailing, [autotag]Jayda Coleman[/autotag] doubled on an 0-2 count. Wasting little time, [autotag]Jocelyn Alo[/autotag] launched the first of her two home runs in the game to give the Oklahoma Sooners a 2-1 lead. After a [autotag]Tiare Jennings[/autotag] single, Texas let the game get away from them a bit with some poor fielding that set up [autotag]Taylon Snow[/autotag]’s three-run home run to give Oklahoma the 5-1 lead after one inning.

Trautwein threw a clean second inning, retiring the Texas side in order. The Sooners rewarded her ability to work around some Texas base runners with a run in every inning. Trautwein earned her sixth win of the NCAA tournament and now is 4-0 in the Women’s College World Series.

Alo and [autotag]Tiare Jennings[/autotag] each hit two home runs and combined to go 7-for-8 with eight runs scored, four home runs, and eight RBIs.

The Longhorns didn’t have an answer for the Sooners’ offensive onslaught that left Oklahoma Football head coach Brent Venables awe-inspired.

Patty Gasso’s crew is now one win away from claiming their sixth national title in program history and second straight. After Trautwein threw 90 pitches and [autotag]Nicole May[/autotag] came in to finish the game, [autotag]Jordy Bahl[/autotag] may get the ball for game two to try and close out her incredible freshman year on a high note.

‘It’s intimidating’: Brent Venables on Oklahoma Softball as the Sooners dominate Texas

Interviewed during the game by ESPN, Brent Venables discussed the intimidating and inspiring Oklahoma Sooners softball program.

Another sell out at USA Softball Stadium brought out the stars for game one of the Women’s College World Series championship between the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns.

Former basketball star and current member of the Atlanta Hawks was in attendance and so were Dillon Gabriel and Michael Turk. ESPN took a moment to interview Oklahoma’s new head coach Brent Venables who mentioned he told all of his players to come out and watch the Sooners softball team.

Speaking with Holly Rowe, Venables was asked what he thought about the program Patty Gasso’s built. He said, “It’s intimidating. Are you kidding me? I had a chance to speak to the girls. I was just going to throw the pitch out and then someone asked me to go in and speak to the girls and I’m like ‘what am I gonna tell them. That’s like marrying Oprah. Like what are you gonna give them that they don’t already have? But they’re addicted to winning and they’ve been the example in college softball. Coach Gasso and her program, her coaches. So, I’m trying to learn how to win at the highest level like they have. They’re as good there’s been in a long time. Maybe the most dominant collegiate team in any sport ever. So it’s pretty cool to be a bird on the wall.”

He encouraged his players to “watch these girls. How they compete, how they win, how they fight, how they play together, it’s really inspiring. The energy is very infectious, it’s very contagious. And so I told all the players, ‘this is how you win at the highest level, come watch this.”

No doubt that the Oklahoma Sooners have been awe-inspiring yet again as they set a record for most runs scored in a Women’s College World Series and a record for most home runs in a championship series game. Jocelyn Alo and Tiare Jennings each have a pair and Jana Johns and Taylon Snow came through with the long ball.

Though the game isn’t over yet, the Sooners will more than likely take a 1-0 lead in the series. It’s all academic at this point.

In the shadow of the offense, Hope Trautwein has shined in Sooners postseason run

As the Oklahoma Sooners get set to take on the Texas Longhorns in the WCWS championship, Hope Trautwein has been a shining star for OU.

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to amaze with offensive production that has been out of this world. They’re the top story anytime you turn on a game, and deservedly so. They’ve been on a tear for the last two seasons, putting up staggering numbers at the plate.

Down arguably their best pitcher in Jordy Bahl, there was some question as to how the pitching staff would respond down the freshman phenom. And Hope Trautwein answered the call.

In the postseason, Trautwein’s gone 5-0 and thrown 28.2 innings pitched, with three wins in the Women’s College World Series. She’s allowed six runs but has thrown four complete games. The only start where she didn’t go the distance, was the 13-2 run-rule win over Northwestern where Bahl came in to register the final out.

Trautwein’s registered 20 strikeouts and while she’s had some walks, she didn’t allow a walk in her complete game shutout of the UCLA Bruins. In that game, she allowed just two hits and registered six strikeouts.

With Jordy Bahl not all the way back to herself just yet and Nicole May being a bit up and down, the Sooners have come to rely on Trautwein to be their rock in the circle.

As the Oklahoma Sooners get set to take on the Texas Longhorns in the WCWS championship series, Hope Trautwein will be relied upon once again to help OU complete their impressive 2022 season with another national title.

The stage is set and the Oklahoma Sooners will take on the Texas Longhorns in the championship series of the Women’s College World Series. Both teams were forced to play two games on Monday to advance.

The Sooners lost their first game to UCLA, forcing a winner-take-all matchup and Oklahoma responded with a 15-0 win to make their third-straight WCWS championship.

Playing out of the loser’s bracket, the Longhorns had to beat the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Monday and did just that. They got a 5-0 win in the first game of the day and then paired a couple of three-run innings together late in the game to overcome a 5-0 deficit to move on to face the defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners.

Red River National Title Showdown: Oklahoma to face the Texas Longhorns for WCWS Championship

Texas won two elimination games on Monday to set up a Red River National Championship Showdown with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The stage is set and while Oklahoma City will be the site, this year’s Women’s College World Series Championship will feature a Red River flair. The Texas Longhorns won two elimination games on Monday to overcome the odds and advance to the title series where they’ll face the juggernaut that is Patty Gasso and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Back in April, the Longhorns were the first team to beat the Sooners, snapping their 40-game win streak and record-breaking start to a season. Oklahoma avenged that loss with a 7-2 win on Saturday to advance to the semifinals where they beat UCLA.

Texas had to overcome a 5-0 deficit in game two on Monday. Trailing entering the fourth inning, the Longhorns chipped away scoring three in the frame on a Courtney Day three-run home run. They then added three more in the fifth to take the lead.

On the deciding play, Oklahoma State committed three errors to allow Texas runners to advance and ultimately take the lead and win the game.

Sometimes a team needs a break to get to advance to a championship and the Longhorns certainly got that on Monday night against Oklahoma State.

The Red River National Title Showdown will begin on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. CST and can be seen on ESPN.

Tiare Jennings and Jocelyn Alo led the way at the plate and Hope Trautwein collected her eighth complete game shutout of the season as the Oklahoma Sooners rebounded from their first loss of the NCAA tournament with a 15-0 win over UCLA. The win puts Oklahoma through to the Women’s College World Series championship for the third-straight time and eighth time in program history.

The Sooners started fast with three-run innings in the first two frames and then exploded for eight runs in the fifth to secure their 40th run-rule win of the season in dominating fashion.

UCLA is arguably the greatest program in softball history and after the Sooners’ first loss of the postseason, made them look like newcomers to the Women’s College World Series. Their 15-0 win marked the largest win in WCWS history.

Now the Oklahoma Sooners move on to face the winner of the other WCWS semifinal featuring Oklahoma State and Texas. Texas picked up a 5-0 win over the Cowgirls to force the deciding game between the two sides. Social media reacted to Jocelyn Alo and Hope Trautwein’s big day as the Sooners set the record for largest win in WCWS history.

The Oklahoma Sooners bounced back from their 7-3 loss earlier in the day to the UCLA Bruins with a dominating performance in game two to clinch their spot in the Women’s College World Series championship.

It was an incredible start as the Sooners opened up with a three-run home run from Tiare Jennings in the first and a three-run shot from Jocelyn Alo in the second to jump out to an early 6-0 lead.

Hope Trautwein allowed a double in the top of the first, but nothing else until the bottom of the fifth inning. But by that time the Sooners had built a 15-0 lead after an eight-run inning put the game completely out of reach for the 12-time national champion-UCLA Bruins.

Jocelyn Alo was 4-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs, including a grand slam that closed the game.

Oklahoma will now move on to face the winner of Monday night’s matchup between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. Texas will need to win twice to advance while Oklahoma State can advance to the championship series with a single win over the Longhorns.

After falling to the UCLA Bruins 7-3 in the first game of the day, the Oklahoma Sooners responded to their first loss of the NCAA tournament in a resounding fashion. They beat the 12-time national champions 15-0 to advance to the Women’s College World Series championship and continue their quest to go back-to-back and win their sixth national championship.

As they’ve done in each of the last two seasons following a loss, the Oklahoma Sooners left no doubt in this one, jumping on UCLA from the get-go.

The top of the order came out hot as [autotag]Jayda Coleman[/autotag] opened the game with a lead-off walk. [autotag]Jocelyn Alo[/autotag] moved Coleman on a double to right-center and [autotag]Tiare Jennings[/autotag] crushed a three-run home run for her 27th of the season to left.

After the three-run shot from Jennings, Alo had a feeling about how game two was going to go against UCLA. And both the offense and the defense proved her right. The ESPN broadcast caught video of Alo telling her teammates that they’d only need five innings in the second game.

The Sooners added three more runs in the top of the second, this time off the bat of the NCAA all-time home run leader, who launched her own three-run home run of the season. Alo provided the action to go with her words. She ended the day going 4-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs to lead the Sooners in their 15-0 win. But she didn’t do it alone, [autotag]Hope Trautwein[/autotag] was fantastic as well.

Trautwein allowed just two hits, no walks, and struck out six Bruins to dominate the Bruins. She allowed a double in the bottom of the first and then would go on to retire 12 straight Bruins before allowing her second hit of the afternoon.

And if the Bruins were hoping they’d have a shot to extend the game to seven innings, the Oklahoma Sooners left no doubt that the game would end in five.

In the top of the fifth, the Oklahoma Sooners sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring eight runs on six hits, with a walk and a hit by pitch.

In fitting fashion, Alo worked the count to her favor and blasted her second homer of the day for a grand slam to make it 15-0 to put the game far out of reach of any type of comeback from the highly-ranked Bruins.

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up their 40th run-rule win of the season and Jocelyn Alo now has 32 home runs and 82 RBIs on the season.

After a letdown in the first game of the day, the Oklahoma Sooners left no doubt as to their status as the favorites to win it all. Now they await the winner of the other semifinal this evening between the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and the Texas Longhorns. Either way, the Sooners will face a team that has a win over them.

They avenged their April loss to Texas in the winner’s bracket of the Women’s College World Series. Prior to their loss to UCLA, the Cowgirls were the last team to beat the Sooners, picking up a win in the Big 12 championship game.
