Highlights of Texas commit Maalik Murphy’s Week 2 win

Texas commit Maalik Murphy scores four touchdowns in Week 2 win.

After getting off to a slow start last week that saw him throw a couple interceptions in a loss to open the season, four-star quarterback Maalik Murphy led Junipero Serra to a bounce back win in Week 2.

The future Texas quarterback is playing in his first full varsity season, and is looking to make strides every week.

He and his team faced off with known southern California powerhouse Long Beach Poly, but unlike last week, Murphy’s offense seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. The game came down to the final seconds. After a Long Beach Poly touchdown that put them in position to tie the game, Poly celebrated a tad too much. Players from the sidelines stormed the field drawing an unsportsmanlike call that pushed the extra point attempt back, which was eventually missed.

Murphy accounted for all four of his teams touchdowns, and unlike the first game where he was forcing throws, Murphy was letting plays develop and making logical decisions. He had three passing touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown in the win.

Let’s take a look at some of Murphy’s highlights from the Week 2 win.

Texas has made another 2022 wide receiver in Tyler Morris. A four-star UT is getting into what seems to be a Big Ten recruiting battle.

Texas has made another offer to a 2022 wide receiver in Tyler Morris. A four-star prospect out of La Grange Park, Illinois, the Longhorns are getting into what seems to be a Big Ten recruiting battle.

As things stand, Michigan leads the way on the 247Sport crystal ball. Two predictions with a confidence level of seven have been inserted for the Wolverines.

Texas is not an unfamiliar foe to taking receivers away fro Michigan, with Tarik Black transferring to Austin this offseason. Now, he is expected to be the main outside receiver for Sam Ehlinger this season.

With top-rated quarterback Quinn Ewers locked into the 2022 class, Texas is going after the top receivers in the country. Four-star Phaizon Wilson has already committed. The Longhorns have offered 16 other blue-chip wide receivers, with Morris being the latest one.
