Should Grant Williams start for the Celtics after his series-clinching performance vs. the Milwaukee Bucks?

If nothing else, we know he can step up big time when his number is called.

With the fate of the Boston Celtics’ season hanging in the balance, Grant Williams was absolutely phenomenal in Game 7 for Boston. The Milwaukee Bucks were daring Williams to keep hoisting 3s, even with his first few attempts failing to go in. But with the encouragement of his teammates and coach, Williams heated up and led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-22 shooting, along with 7-of-18 3-pointers.

Williams set a playoff career-high in points and made treys, and tied a record for most 3s attempted in a Game 7 (also held by Golden State Warriors legendary point guard Steph Curry). Should the Tennessee product start for Boston moving forward?

Join the hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast as they take one more look back at Grant Williams and his lights-out performance to help topple the Bucks in Game 7 and whether it was enough to catapult the forward to starter status now or in the future.

If nothing else, it set up the Celtics with the next stop in their revenge tour playoffs with a date against 2020 Orlando bubble foes, the Miami Heat.

Woj: Marcus Smart underwent MRI on sprained foot; came back clean, may play Game 1 vs. Miami Heat

Boston may have dodged a bullet on the injury front.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski shared news that the Boston Celtics may have dodged a bullet on the injury front with veteran point guard Marcus Smart has returned a clean MRI after a hard fall in Game 7 sprained his right foot, first reported on by CLNS Media’s Josue Pavon.

Wojnarowski relates that there is hope that the Flower Mound native will be ready to play in Game 1 of the team’s 2022 Eastern Conference finals series with the Miami Heat, who are dealing with their own banged-up floor general in Kyle Lowry, who has been nursing a strained hamstring.

Speaking to the media after practice on Monday, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka said that Smart’s mid-foot sprain is “pretty tender and sore,” but that the point guard will get “round the clock treatment” while being officially listed as questionable for Game 1.

Jaylen Brown explains why the Miami Heat are such challenging opponents

Jaylen Brown shared his excitement for the upcoming Eastern Conference Finals match-up between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.

The Boston Celtics are headed back to the Eastern Conference Finals to take on the Miami Heat, a rematch of the 2020 matchup down in the NBA’s Orlando Bubble. This time around, both the Celtics and the Heat look even more formidable. With the additions of Kyle Lowry and a surprising Victor Oladipo, this Miami club is will give Boston everything they can handle.

The Heat won 53 games during the regular season, earning the top seed in the East. Miami finished the year with the fourth-best defensive rating and the sixth-best net rating in the league. Following Sunday’s Game 7 victory over the Bucks, Jaylen Brown was asked about the coming Conference Finals. He made it clear how much he and the Celtics respect Miami.

“Tough team. Team full of dogs. Guys is not gonna give up, guys is not gonna give you anything, not an inch. So we got to go out and play with poise, play with the same mindset, to fight, because I expect nothing less than a great battle.”

Later in his post-game press conference, Brown offered a little more about the upcoming match-up between the Celtics and Heat. Said Brown:

“I think that we are prepared, I think that we’re ready to take that next step. We just got to go out and take it. I know Miami is a team that’s waiting for us. They’re not going to back down and not gonna give up. And neither are we. I’m looking forward to it.”

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals begins Tuesday night in Miami.

Full Boston Celtics – Miami Heat 2022 NBA Eastern Conference finals schedule out

Boston will be without homecourt advantage for the first time in the NBA’s 2022 postseason.

The Boston Celtics have continued one of the most remarkable midseason turnarounds in NBA history as they roll through another opponent in the 2022 NBA Playoffs, dispatching the defending NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks in 7 games at TD Garden Sunday afternoon, setting up the storied franchise for a collision with the Miami Heat in the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals that will kick off this Tuesday night.

The Celtics are early favorites, but the health of Boston big man Robert Williams III and Miami point guard Kyle Lowry loom large in the series with both working their way back to the court after injuries to their lower extremities.

Let’s take a look at the schedule for the Celtics – Heat Eastern Conference finals (* denotes games to be played only if needed in the best of 7 series).

Jayson Tatum’s son Deuce shares his plans for Miami after his father, Celtics send the Milwaukee Bucks fishing

The younger Tatum is ready for South Beach.

You might think that the star of the Boston Celtics’ series’ clinching win against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks would be the unlikely hero who came out of nowhere to hit a career-high 27 points on 7 made 3-pointers in Grant Williams, or at least All-Star forward Jayson Tatum, who kept the team afloat through several tough patches with his 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists.

But the show at the podium after the big win was stolen by another Tatum entirely — the St. Louis native’s young son Deuce. Asked by the media if he was excited to go to Miami while sitting alongside his father after the game, the younger Tatum shared what it was he most looked forward to doing on arrival in the south Florida metropolis.

Check out the NBA TV clip embedded below snipped from the postgame media availability session to hear what that might be for yourself while you bask in the glow (or the sting) of the Celtics’ Game 7 victory.
