Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum’s top dunks from their Eastern Conference Championship run with the Boston Celtics last season

The NBA put together a highlight reel of the best dunks by Brown and Tatum in their run to the Eastern Conference Championship as part of their “Dunk Week” festivities.

Not all basketball analysis is equal, as was shown rather definitively by those analysts who thought it would be a better plan to break up Boston Celtics star forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum after a bit of a rocky start to the 2021-22 NBA season.

But by the end of that season, the pair were arguably the league’s most dangerous tandem on the hottest team in the Association. The NBA of course took note, and put together a highlight reel of the best dunks by Brown and Tatum in their run to the Eastern Conference Championship as part of their “Dunk Week” festivities.

To see the two Celtics star wings wreaking havoc from above the rim, rattling the backboards, and putting their opponents on some serious posters, check out the clip the NBA assembled of their best flushes of the pre-Finals postseason embedded below.

The Boston Celtics’ best moments in the 2022 NBA Playoffs

Don’t be sad that ended — be happy that it happened!

It might not have ended with the kind of result fans of the Boston Celtics were hoping for, but the 2022 NBA Playoffs run the Celtics put together after a season they started as one of the more underwhelming clubs in the league has plenty of moments worth looking back on.

For starters, it was effectively the revenge tour of a lifetime, with Boston dispatching each of the teams that have ended their seasons in recent years as the team worked its way back into contention status as they defeated first the Brooklyn Nets, then the Milwaukee Bucks, and finally the Miami Heat. Add in the satisfaction of sending arch-heel Kyrie Irving fishing with a sweep to kick things off, and it was something of a Celtics masterpiece.

Check out the clip embedded below for a collection of the very best moments from the Celtics’ 2022 postseason run in this highlight reel assembled by YouTuber Tomasz Kordylewski.

Celtics Lab 116: The Heat beaten, a look back on the path to the finals ahead of a Warriors showdown

This episode, we take stock of how Boston put themselves in a position to compete for Banner 18.

Even though it very much looked like it might not have happened in the waning seconds of the Boston Celtics‘ Game 7 win over the Miami Heat in the 2022 Eastern Conference semifinals as Jimmy Butler’s last-second 3-pointer followed its arc on the way to the front of the rim, the Celtics are in fact headed to the 2022 NBA Finals starting next Thursday.

Their first trip back there since 2010 and the first trip ever for every member of the current team’s roster, it felt right to take a last look back at the series with the Heat, Jayson Tatum‘s new (literally) hardware, and the season more generally before getting our minds ready for the fight for Banner 18 against the Golden State Warriors.

On this episode of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast, we take stock of the team’s path to the finals and even take a peek at the series ahead of a full preview later this week.

Boston’s Jayson Tatum opens up about winning the first Larry Bird East finals MVP award

The Celtics superstar shared his thoughts on the honor postgame Sunday.

While it very nearly could have gone the other way, it was fitting that the very first Larry Bird Eastern Conference finals Most Valuable Player award went to Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum and the team the Bob Cousy Eastern Conference Finals trophy after the Celtics defeated the Miami Heat in Game 7 on Sunday night.

The former award, named for the Celtics legend Tatum is stepping into the shoes of as the team’s small forward superstar, could have ended up in the hands of Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, who presumably would have gotten more than the single vote for the hardware had his late 3-pointer carried the Heat to an improbable victory.

Tatum shared his thoughts on the award postgame, calling it “an honor” to be the premier recipient of the award.

Al Horford, Boston Celtics celebrate Game 7 win, team’s first trip to the NBA Finals since 2010

Boston celebrated after beating Miami to punch their ticket to Horford and this current iteration of the Celtics’ first trip to the finals.

The Boston Celtics are headed to the 2022 NBA Finals where they will compete with the battle-tested veterans of the Golden State Warriors to compete for an NBA-record 18th banner should the Celtics manage to come away with the win.

But before they turned their attention to the task ahead, Boston allowed themselves a moment to bask in the considerable accomplishment of having defeated the Heat on their home floor in seven games. Celtics broadcaster and alumnus Cedric Maxwell presented team OG Al Horford with hardware in honor of what they’d done on the court that night, the first such trip to the Finals now earned for any current Boston player on the roster.

To see that historic moment, check out the clip embedded below by our friends at CLNS Media, who captured the postgame speeches from all involved.

Jayson Tatum wins inagural Larry Bird Trophy as the Eastern Conference finals MVP

Jayson Tatum is the winner of the 2022 Eastern Conference finals Larry Bird Most Valuable Player award, taking home the inaugural trophy.

The Boston Celtics are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time in twelve seasons. Led by a rookie head coach in Ime Udoka, this is a miraculous outcome for a team that was at one point 23-24. A huge part of Boston’s in-season turnaround was the impressive rise of Jayson Tatum. An All-Star turned bonafide MVP candidate, Tatum helped the Celtics roar their way through the East and on to the NBA championship series.

It was an especially grueling battle in the Conference finals against the Miami Heat. Two well-polished defenses made for physical, sometimes grueling play. At the same time, Jimmy Butler — who went for 47 points in Game 6 — did all he could to help his Heat team make its own return to the Finals.

At the end of the day, however, it was the Celtics who won the series and a trip to the Bay to face the Golden State Warriors. Buoyed by Tatum’s epic performance, Boston persevered. The former Duke Blue Devil won a bit of hardware as a result.

This season the NBA premiered two new Conference finals’ most valuable player awards. In the East, the best player in that round wins the Larry Bird Trophy. It couldn’t be more fitting that the inaugural award was handed to Tatum.

Congratulations to Tatum and the Celtics!

Celtics win 100-96, advance to the NBA Finals: Game 7 highlights

The Boston Celtics are headed to the NBA Finals. Check out the highlights from a wild Game 7 in Miami.

The Boston Celtics are headed to the NBA Finals following a nail-biting Game 7 against the Miami Heat. Boston ultimately pulled out a 100-96 victory Sunday night, their third road victory of the series. Now the Celts are headed to the Bay to take on the Golden State Warriors.

It was a Jekyll and Hyde first half. For every Celtics run, the Heat had an answer. For every brilliant play, there were dumb fouls or blown layups. Importantly, however, the Celts limited turnovers and won the rebounding battle. Jimmy Butler was once again miraculous, but Boston took a hard-fought but narrow lead into the half. Following a hotly contested third quarter, the Celtics led 82-75 at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Boston appeared to pull away in the fourth. Jayson Tatum hit a few massive shots. The defense was as solid as ever. Miami looked tired and without answers.

Out of seemingly nowhere, Miami roared back. With 11.4 seconds left, it was just a two-point Celtics lead. Boston came within a hair of blowing a double-digit lead with a trip to the Finals on the line. The horn sounded, however, and the Celtics maintained the lead. Boston is going back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

Check out the highlights from Game 7 of the 2022 Eastern Conference finals, brought to you by NBC Sports Boston.

NBA, Celtics Twitter react to Boston’s 100-96 Game 7 win over the Miami Heat

Boston will compete for an NBA-record 18 titles after the win.

In a decisive Game 7 of their 2022 NBA Eastern Conference finals series with the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics brought their A-Game, and it paid off with a trip to the 2022 NBA Finals to face the Golden State Warriors for a shot at the 2022 NBA title and a league-record 18 championships.

The Celtics weathered several attempts by the Heat to retake the lead, but the Heat simply did not have enough in the tank to defeat a young and rising Boston squad. The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum (26 points, 10 boards, 6 assists), Jaylen Brown (24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists), and Marcus Smart (24 points, 9 boards, 5 assists).

Let’s take a look at what the league’s unofficial social media outlet had to say about Boston’s big win.

Celtics at Heat: Boston outlasts Miami, advances to NBA Finals with 100-96 win

Some of the best moments captured in images in Game 7.

The Boston Celtics came out strong in Game 7 against the Miami Heat in their East finals series and put together perhaps the best game of the series against their worthy rivals with a wire-to-wire, 100-96 road win. With the victory, the Celtics will advance to the 2022 NBA Finals to face the Golden State Warriors for the NBA championship, putting Boston in the running to win an NBA-record 18 titles.

The game was won with huge contributions from All-NBA swingman Jayson Tatum (26 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists), star forward Jaylen Brown (24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists), and veteran point guard Marcus Smart (24 points, 6 boards, and as many assists), with reserve forward Grant Williams chipping in 11 points and 6 boards off of the bench.

Let’s take a look at some of the best moments captured in images in Game 7.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith says Game 7s come down to the stars — are Boston’s up to the challenge?

Is this Jaylen and Jayson’s moment — or Jimmy and Bam’s?

What do the Boston Celtics need to do to beat the Miami Heat in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference finals series to advance and face the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals? ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has a few ideas and shared them recently with Malika Andrews and Jalen Rose on “Sports Center”.

“How about not replicating your effort in Game 6?” he asked rhetorically. “How about Jaylen Brown scoring more than 2 points in the entire second half? How about Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combing for a grand total of 1 shot in the first 11 minutes of a fourth quarter?”

Smith believes such things would help immensely, and we are inclined to agree, though we would add preventing turnovers in particular to that laundry list of must-dos.

Game 7s come down to the stars according to Smith — will Boston’s show up Sunday night?
