On this day in Boston Celtics history, former Celtics shooting guard Tony Harris was born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1967. Harris played for the University of New Orleans before going undrafted in the 1990 NBA draft, and briefly with the Philadelphia 76ers at the NBA level before landing with Boston as an unrestricted free agent in 1994.
He would play in the Philippines Basketball League (PBL) briefly in the 1992-93 season, scoring 105 points in a game to set a record in that league that still stands today. While Harris played for the Celtics for two seasons, he only appeared in eight games.
He averaged 7.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and an assist per game over that stretch, as brief as it was.

Celtics center luminary Dave Cowens led the team with 28 points and 14 rebounds, forward John Havlicek added 16 points and 9 boards, and 6 assists while point guard Jo Jo White chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Reserve forward contributed Paul Silas 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals for good measure. Dropping their usual man-to-man defense to double and triple Bucks star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar proved critical to the win.
Don’t be sad that ended — be happy that it happened!
It might not have ended with the kind of result fans of the Boston Celtics were hoping for, but the 2022 NBA Playoffs run the Celtics put together after a season they started as one of the more underwhelming clubs in the league has plenty of moments worth looking back on.
For starters, it was effectively the revenge tour of a lifetime, with Boston dispatching each of the teams that have ended their seasons in recent years as the team worked its way back into contention status as they defeated first the Brooklyn Nets, then the Milwaukee Bucks, and finally the Miami Heat. Add in the satisfaction of sending arch-heel Kyrie Irving fishing with a sweep to kick things off, and it was something of a Celtics masterpiece.
