JJ Redick reacts to the Boston Celtics sweeping the Brooklyn Nets

Now that it is on the books, there’s as much to say about Brookyn’s faults as there is about Boston’s successes.

If any team has made the case in recent NBA history that building a deep foundation of good habits, strong relationships, and a championship mentality can defeat pure talent alone, it has been the Boston Celtics.

And particularly so after they sent the preseason title favorite Brooklyn Nets into their offseason with a first-round sweep that saw connected team defense and a deep roster who moved the ball — and themselves off of it — overwhelm the nuclear offensive capabilities of superstar forward Kevin Durant and star point guard Kyrie Irving in a way that has to have the rest fo the league on alert.

Former NBAer and current podcaster JJ Redick joined the crew of ESPN’s “Get Up” to talk about the sweep, as well as how those Nets stars responded to such a surprising series result.

Boston star Jaylen Brown credits coach Ime Udoka for setting the tone of Celtics’ postseason success vs. Nets

The Celtics star believes his coach’s approach on the sidelines is a major reason why Boston has excelled in the playoffs so far.

After the Boston Celtics swept the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night with their 116 – 112 road win over their Atlantic Division rivals, plenty of praise was rightly focused on what the team had accomplished together and as individual players since starting the season 17 – 19 to many a Celtics fans’ consternation.

But after the unlikely sweep was on the books, star forward Jaylen Brown wanted to be sure that the architect behind Boston’s second-half success and early playoff excellence got his flowers as well when speaking to the media — namely first-year head coach Ime Udoka.

“Ime set the tone from the jump,” related Brown.

Boston Celtics’ remarkable turnaround this season continues with sweep of Brooklyn Nets

After such a dominant showing, are they now the title favorites?

If there has ever been anything like the Boston Celtics’ midseason pivot from an occupant of the dreaded treadmill of mediocrity to a bonafide NBA title contender, we certainly cannot think of an easy comparison in the history of the modern NBA.

There have of course been bigger momentum shifts from one season to the next (in fact, the Celtics were that team the summer they won their last title in 2008 compared to the campaign immediately prior to it), but what Boston has done in their 2021-22 season is truly historic, having dragged themselves up from the Eastern Conference’s 11th-place position to finish the regular season with the second-best record in the East, then sweeping the preseason favorites to win the title — the Brooklyn Nets — in four games.

The hosts of the NBC Sports Boston “Postgame Live” show Chris Forsberg and Amina Smith spent a fair amount of air time reveling in that turnaround and Boston sent Brooklyn fishing on Monday night.

Jayson Tatum highlights: Celtics star gets 29 points, 5 assists in Game 4 closeout win vs. Brooklyn Nets

No sweep ’til Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Nets have been officially removed from contention for the 2022 NBA title at the hands of the Boston Celtics after Boston’s 116 – 112 Game 4 win over Brooklyn on Monday night, and no hand played a greater role than Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum did as Boston’s leading scorer.

The St. Louis native fouled out late in the fourth quarter but managed to put up 29 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor, a sizzling 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe before picking up his sixth foul of the game.

Tatum’s elite two-way play was enough for his teammates to get across the finish line for the game and the series without him and earn the team a few days’ rest while the rest of the field catches up.

Check out the clip embedded above to see all of the Duke product’s best plays from the Celtics’ Game 4 win over the Nets while we wait for the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks – Chicago Bulls series to be sorted out.

How far can the Boston Celtics’ suffocating defense take them past the Brooklyn Nets?

While the team is right not to look past Brooklyn, the hosts of the Celtics Lab podcast couldn’t help themselves now that Boston has a commanding 3 – 0 series lead over the Nets.

The dominance of the Boston Celtics on defense has been so surprisingly effective on the Brooklyn Nets over the first three games of the team’s first-round series with their Atlantic Division rivals that it’s caused analysts to ask what is wrong with Kevin Durant.

But the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast have a different perspective, namely that it’s time to start praising what’s right with Boston’s defense, which has taken two of the best scorers in the history of the modern NBA completely out of their games after three straight contests in a row that shows it is no fluke what the Celtics are doing to the Nets.

Joined by NBA video breakdown podcaster Alex King of his”Alex Hoops” YouTube series, Alex Goldberg, Cameron Tabatabaie, and Justin Quinn give Boston their flowers for what they’ve accomplished in the first round — and explore just how much further they think this team can go.

Broom time? Boston alum Eddie House breaks down the Celtics’ 3 – 0 start vs the Brooklyn Nets

The 2008 Celtics champ turned broadcaster likes what he sees from his former franchise.

2008 NBA champion and Boston Celtics alumnus Eddie House knows a contender when he sees one — particularly when the uniform they are wearing is green and white. The former Celtics shooting guard turned broadcaster has been impressed by Boston’s play against the Brooklyn Nets in their first-round playoff series and thinks that the Celtics have a solid shot at a sweep of their Atlantic Division rivals.

The Banner 18-hanging broadcaster recently teamed up with fellow NBC Sports analyst Chris Forsberg to come on the “Celtics Talk” podcast to talk all things Celtics – Nets on their most recent episode and the 109 – 103 Game 3 win has House ready to break out the broom.

Check out the clip embedded below to hear what the duo has to say about the possibility of a sweep and lots more postseason talk.

Celtics Lab 105: Looking at how Boston’s Game 3 win vs. Brooklyn sheds light on the Celtics’ postseason ceiling with Alex King

The signs began near the start of the new year, but by now it’s getting harder to think of the Celtics as anything less than a title contender.

The Boston Celtics are poised to sweep the team that was widely seen as likely to win the 2022 NBA title on the Brooklyn Nets’ home court this coming Monday, and questions about what could be going wrong with the Nets have shifted to how impressive the Celtics have been not only in their series with Brooklyn but well before the postseason even began.

What did Boston’s Game 3 win tell us about the Celtics’ title chances? How will the return of big man Robert Williams III inflect those odds? And what were the elements that came together in the latter half of the 2021-22 NBA season that set the table for this unprecedented success?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast Alex Goldberg, Justin Quinn, and Cameron Tabatabaie got together with the creator of the “Alex Hoops” YouTube NBA video breakdown series Alex King to try and get a handle on what it was that got Boston to this enviable position.

Will the Boston Celtics sweep the Brooklyn Nets on their own home floor?

With a 3 – 0 series lead, it’s a far less unlikely prospect than you might think.

The Boston Celtics will go into Game 4 of their first-round series of the 2022 NBA Playoffs against the Brooklyn Nets this coming Monday with a 3 – 0 series lead, meaning the Celtics will be in a realistic position to send the Nets fishing on their own home court without ever winning a game in the series.

A first-round sweep of a team seen by many as potential favorites to win the 2022 NBA Finals would be a tectonic shift in the current hierarchy of Eastern Conference teams. It would perhaps signal the arrival of a Boston rebuild focused on their twin star wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum which has been a long time coming in the eyes of many.

After the Celtics’ 109 – 103 win over the Nets, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast got together to talk about the possibility and ramifications of a sweep by Boston.

Check out the clip embedded above to hear their takes.

Up 3 – 0 on the Nets, Boston’s Jaylen Brown has no plans to relax in Game 4

The star Boston forward has respect for his opponents, particularly Kevin Durant.

You would be forgiven as a younger player if you started to look past your current postseason opponent with a 3 – 0 series lead, but for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, such a perspective is not in line with the kind of thinking he wants the Celtics to focus on.

Even with the ability to dispatch the Brooklyn Nets in four games on Monday, for Brown, keeping the team’s collective eyes is the task at hand. After Boston’s convincing Game 3 win, the Georgia native spoke with the media, answering inquiries regarding what Brooklyn superstar Kevin Durant might be thinking with his team’s back against the wall.

“I’m not worried about what KD is thinking,” said the Celtics forward. “I’m worried about what we’re thinking.”

Jayson Tatum highlights: Celtics star hangs 39 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, 6 steals on Nets in Game 3 win

The St. Louis native was a driving force in pushing Brooklyn to the brink.

We very well may be watching a superstar be born before our very eyes, with Boston Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum taking control of the series with the Brooklyn Nets in the 2022 NBA Playoffs with another dominant performance on both ends that has the Nets reeling and in the dreaded 0 – 3 postseason series deficit no team has yet recovered from.

The St. Louis native helped his teammates push Brooklyn into this situation with 39 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and an absurd 6 steals. It might not have been his most efficient night with Tatum shooting 13-of-29 from the floor and 4-of-13 from beyond the arc, but the Duke product made up for it at the charity stripe, where he went 9-for-10.

If you missed the game and want to see how Tatum did in it or just want to watch it again, check out the clip embedded below for all of Tatum’s best plays from the Celtics’ 109 – 103 Game 3 win over the Nets on Saturday night.
