Check out some of the best photos from the Oklahoma Sooners appearance at Big 12 media days in Arlington.

Big 12 media day had a very different feel to it, from a new commissioner, though he doesn’t officially start until August 1 to Brent Venables taking the podium for the first time as a head coach.

Business certainly picked up when the Sooners took to the stage and though there might not have been a whole lot of new information shared by Venables, it means the 2022 college football season is right around the corner and thus, the first game of the Brent Venables era.

In addition to Brent Venables, Dillon Gabriel, Ethan Downs, Marvin Mims, and Woodi Washington took their turn with the media.

The Oklahoma Sooners were picked second in the Big 12 media preseason poll and had just one first-team All-Big 12 selection, punter Michael Turk. But the Sooners believe in what they’re doing and will head into the season confident in the work they’ve put in this spring and summer to prepare to get back to the pinnacle of the Big 12.

With media days wrapped up, attention now turns to fall practice, which will open on August 4 for the Oklahoma Sooners.

As we look back on Big 12 media days, take a look at some of the best photos from Oklahoma Sooners in Arlington.

What Brent Venables had to say during his first Big 12 media day press conference

The highlights of Brent Venables turn at the podium on day 2 of Big 12 media days.

The Oklahoma Sooners took their turn at Big 12 media day with Brent Venables taking to the podium and various players doing interviews as well. For Venables, it was his first time to take the stage at a conference media day session after 30 years of coaching. Before taking the Sooners’ head coaching gig, he sat in the background as the defensive coordinator, patiently waiting for his opportunity to take the right head coaching job.

And in December, when he was approached about taking over as head coach for the Oklahoma Sooners, it was the job that made sense for him to make a move.

During his media session, Venables shared a lot about the program’s vision and what he likes about this current group heading into the 2022 season.
