The best Boston Celtics plays of the 2022-23 NBA season

Ball movement has made Boston’s 3-point attack elite, and these are some of the best plays of Boston’s 2022-23 season.

Perhaps more than anything — save an unstoppable barrage of 3-point shots — the ball movement that has made such assaults possible has defined the Boston Celtics‘ 2022-23 NBA season. And the club has put together quite a few flashy dimes; many of which have led to highlight reel-type plays of other kinds as well.

In order to keep busy while we wait for the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs to kick off on Saturday, April 15, fan videographer Tomasz Kordylewski has assembled what he believes to be the Celtics’ 10 best plays of the season for your viewing enjoyment.

Take a look at the clip embedded below to see the plays he believes define Boston’s play in 2022-23 courtesy of the video from his official YouTube channel.

Celtics rank third in merchandise sales for 2022-23; Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown third and 14th for jersey sales respectively

The Boston Celtics have been doing very well this season in terms of selling merchandise.

The Boston Celtics have been doing very well this season in terms of selling merchandise, which perhaps is to be expected when you are a contending ball club with an MVP candidate and perhaps two All-NBA stars on your roster. Per the league, the Celtics’ team merchandise came in with the third-best sales across the league, behind the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors and just ahead of the Phoenix Suns.

Individual jersey sales had a strong Boston presence as well. Superstar swingman Jayson Tatum clocked in with the third-best jersey sales in the league for 2022-23 trailing only LeBron James and Stephen Curry. He ranks just ahead of Giannis Atentokounmpo.

Star forward Jaylen Brown also had a solid showing in jersey sales this season, 14th-best in the league behind Joel Embiid and just ahead of Jordan Pool.

Full Boston Celtics – Atlanta Hawks first round series schedule released

The Boston Celtics first round series against the Atlanta Hawks in the 2023 NBA Playoffs is officially set, with a full slate of games scheduled with dates, times and locations having been released.

The Boston Celtics first round series against the Atlanta Hawks in the 2023 NBA Playoffs is officially set, with a full slate of games scheduled with dates, times and locations having been released by the league.

The Celtics finished the season in the Eastern Conference’s second-place spot with a 57-25 record that earned them the corresponding seed and won them the Atlantic Division as well. The 41-41 Hawks finished with the East’s seventh seed and then defeated the Miami Heat in the 7-8 play-in game to win the right to face Boston in the first round. The Celtics hold home court advantage in the series and are favored to win it as well.

Let’s dive into the schedule of games for the series.

Should players have to play 65 games to qualify for major NBA awards?

Will we see players checking into a game until the first foul is called? What else might change because of this new rule?

With load management becoming such a prominent part of how the NBA conducts business these days, a push to make season-long accolades require a minimum number of games played resulted in the standard getting put into the league’s new collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

The intent was to properly honor players who put in the effort to play as much of the season as they could. As with all tweaks to the CBA, however, unintended consequences — and not always for the better — can arise. Will we see players checking into a game until the first foul is called? What else might change because of this new rule? Most importantly, should it exist to begin with?

The host of the Athletic “Game Theory” podcast, Sam Vecenie, and his guest, Mike Vorkunov, talked it over on a recent episode. Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.

There have been a number of flushes that have stood out above the rest of them due to the gravity of the make, the intensity of the slam dunk, or simply due to the zeitgeist of that particular moment.

Over the course of the Boston Celtics 2022-23 NBA regular season, there has been no shortage of dunks from the players on Boston’s roster. Some serious posters have been laid on opposing teams’ star players from October through April.

The Boston Celtics are ready to take another swing at hanging a banner in the 2023 NBA playoffs, and they know who the first team standing in their way will be. The play-in game to determine the Eastern Conference’s 7 seed was won by the Atlanta Hawks over the Miami Heat. So Atlanta will face the Celtics in the first round of the East postseason.

Can an NBA player win the title the same season he wins the league’s Most Valuable Player award?

The focus and discipline to do both are considerable — and perhaps less aligned than one might think.

Can an NBA player win the title the same season he wins the league’s Kia Most Valuable Player (MVP) award?

The focus and discipline to do both are considerable — and perhaps less aligned than one might think.

For fans of the Boston Celtics, if the answer is no, they might feel better about star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum falling out of the running for the 2023 MVP award given Boston’s designs on Banner 18 this season.

On the other side of the coin, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has pushed hard for the award. While he may have it sewn up, will it come at a cost when his legs are needed to advance in the playoffs?

The hosts of the Ringer “The Answer” podcast, J. Kyle Mann and Seerat Sohi, recently talked it over.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to see whether they believe there is a connection here.

What NBA hardware have the Boston Celtics already won?

With season-long accolades arriving with the end of the 2022-23 season, we surveyed past honors won by current Celtics.

Now that the 2022-23 NBA regular season is over, fans of the Boston Celtics and other teams that have played well enough to have earned themselves a trip to the 2023 NBA Playoffs (or the play-in tournament that can get them there) turn their attention to the postseason.

And while that will remain the focus for as long as the team one follows remain in the mix to win it all, before we get down that particular sort of business, there are the season-long accolades to consider with several within the Celtics organization who could win some 2023 hardware.

For many of the players on the Celtics’ roster, it won’t be their first time earning league-wide recognition; let’s take a look at what players have been honored so in the past before they need some more room in their trophy cases (h/t HoopsHype for the research).

Is Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid the biggest threat to the Boston Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference Playoffs?

The consensus seems to position Giannis and the Bucks in that role, but Embiid and the Sixers have come on strong late in the 2022-23 regular season.

Is Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid the biggest threat to the Boston Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference playoffs? The consensus seems to have Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in that role, but Embiid and the Sixers have come on in the 2022-23 regular season.

While it is fair to note the Celtics did not play Philly the way they usually do the last time the two clubs met and had a number of key players out, it was the Sixers who came away with a win.

Could the Celtics be making a mistake if they don’t give Philly the same level of respect that they are expected to direct toward the Bucks?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast linked up with retired Boston beat writer Mark Murphy to talk it over on a recent episode; give the link embedded above a watch to hear what they had to say about Embiid et al.’s risk to Boston.

Will Jayson Tatum make All-NBA First Team for his play with the Boston Celtics this season?

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce recently made their picks for 2023 known; was JT among them?

Has star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum played well enough in the Celtics’ 2022-23 campaign to garner a nod for this season’s All-NBA first team? The St. Louis native started the season like a house on fire, determined to use his loss with the Celtics to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals as motivation to get back to the league’s biggest stage to win it all.

But as the season wore on and nicks and dings and fatigue slowed him, the Duke native went from the top candidate for the 2023 Kia MVP award to a fringe contender.

Two Hall of Famers from Boston teams past recently weighed in on what players ought to make the cut for this season’s All-NBA first team. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce gave their picks on a recent episode of the “KG Certified” podcast.

Watch the clip embedded above to see if Taco Jay made the cut for the Ticket and the Truth, as well as a look at how the postseason is shaping up out West.
